Happy Hour Chipper!

Happy Friday!!!!!!!!! (Notice the extra exclamation marks today??)

I’m ridiculously excited for this weekend :) Last weekend was a bummer because I was sick so I am planning to take FULL advantage of the next two days. I am kicking the weekend off this afternoon at a friend’s promotion happy hour followed by dinner out with Kyle. On Saturday we are headed to Icehouse, a bar/restaurant for happy hour, dinner and a local band. We have only been to Icehouse for drinks before so I am excited to try a few things on their menu and experience their music venue. It should be fun!

Other than that, my plans include baking (I have an exciting treat for you on Monday!), getting a mani/pedi, enjoying wine and a mimosa or two and napping :) What are your plans for the weekend?

Did you notice that I have at least two happy hours this weekend? I said at least because there might be another one added to the agenda on Sunday :) I <3 happy hours – friends, drink and food specials, relaxation, funny (yet borderline embarrassing) stories to reminisce with your coworkers about the next morning… the list could go on! The one thing I do not like about happy hours, however, is that they add a lot of calories to your diet.

While doing a chipper workout at CrossFit earlier this week (that I am STILL sore from I might add…), I realized that it was a great way to burn a lot of calories! And, one thing that I like to do the morning of a happy hour is to get a good, calorie-burning, metabolism-boosting workout in!

My “Chipper Away That Happy Hour” workout will do just that! You’ll be sweating and burning some major calories in no time. It is an awesome way to lose some of that happy hour calorie guilt :) Plus, my chipper can be done without any gym equipment making it perfect for an intense, at-home workout!

For those of you not familiar with chippers, a chipper is a workout that typically incorporates 5-10 movements into a series of intense exercises. A chipper is considered to be one of the hardest and most intense workouts in CrossFit. Check out this article for more information about chippers!

What is the hardest workout you’ve completed recently? Do you like to push yourself a little harder in your daily workout prior to a night out with friends?

  1. Your weekend sounds fab!! :) and I like the workout… I would have to do girlie push-ups but still..

  2. Cool! Thanks for the Chipper lesson… I had never heard of that. :) Have fun at all of your happy hours this weekend! Can’t wait for the new recipe on Monday!

  3. Hardest workouts recently have been the Insanity cardio workouts, phew those are killer! I’ve been avoiding the gym and the New Year’s crowds. If I know I have a night out in the works, I definitely try to get a good workout in the morning before or after. Enjoy your mani/pedi! I’ve booked a massage for tomorrow, I am in dire need of some R&R!

  4. I have been working on my pushups lately! I want to be able to do real pushups. Today I did 4 sets of 5! I couldn’t go allll the way down but hopefully doing them will get me to the point where I can go all the way down in the pushup

  5. I haven’t tried crossfit (yet!), but this workout does look intense and awesome! Have fun at happy hour(s) this weekend! Don’t worry about the extra cals…..you will laugh them away anyway, right? haha!
