Hi Friends! Happy Sunday :)
Are you all having fabulous weekends? I sure am! Yesterday I slept in until 10. Yep, you read that right! Typically, sleeping in for me is 7:30am – crazy! I actually woke up around 8:30, made myself some peanut butter toast and decided to go back to bed for a few more hours. I was planning on going to CrossFit but since I slept in past my class and it was in the 30′s (at least in the morning…), I changed my fitness plans for the day and headed outside for a run.
After my run, I walked downtown to treat myself to an early birthday present of a much-needed mani/pedi. My no-chip gel manicure and pedicure were only $52 – What a steal! The employees at the nail salon did a great job so I will definitely be back there again :) On my walk home I stopped to get an Americano from Dunn Bros, a local coffee shop, and the barista gave it to me for free! Apparently he felt like offering up a nice gesture!
Outdoor Run in January + Pretty nails + Free coffee = An awesome start to my Saturday :)
Later in the afternoon Kyle and I headed to New Bohemia: Wurst + BierHaus – A new(ish) German bar in Minneapolis. We each ordered a beer (I had a Warsteiner) and perused their bratwurst menu… They have a huge variety of unique brats including a rattlesnake-rabbit brat and a chicken habanero-tequila brat! We had a good laugh about their “Sausage Flights” when we saw it on their menu ;)
For dinner, we went to Icehouse. It was good, but nothing too special in my opinion. I think the fact that we had to wait outside in the -10 degree windchill while we valeted our car might have had something to do with my perspective…
This week is going to be chaotic – to say the least - for my health goals. I have a few restaurant lunches planned with clients at work and then Kyle and I are going on a mini-trip this weekend for my birthday on Saturday! Because I know that I will be facing a lot of “healthy” challenges this week, my health goals are to focus on eating nutritious breakfasts, getting in frequent, booty-kicking workouts and cooking healthy dinners on the nights I am home. Other than that, it’s my birthday week and I’m going to enjoy it, cake and all! :)

In other news, the high in Minneapolis tomorrow is -5 degrees – negative five, negative five, NEGATIVE FIVE!!! The wind chills are supposed to be in the -40′s – Have I ever mentioned that I hate living in a cold climate? I do and weather like this makes me want to open a tiki bar/yoga studio on a beach in Mexico.
Is it cold where you live? If so, how do you motivate yourself to workout in this weather?

Happy birthday, love! Sounds like you have a week planned with fun celebrations! And stay warm!!- I do not miss that crazy cold weather when I lived in MN last year! :)
I love laid-back Saturdays! And two thumbs up for birthdays! I love all of the free stuff I get around birthday time :).
I know! That’s the best part ;)
Yayyyy Happy Birthday!!!
I am so jealous of your commitment to fitness. I am just so…not…committed…*sigh*
I don’t always stick to my plan but it helps me to better organize my week!
It’s in the 20s where I live and I hate it. I am more than ready for shorts and tank tops. It’s so hard for me to get in runs when it’s cold especially if its super windy
Its going to be in the teen’s here this weekend! brrr!
Happy early birthday! Sounds like you have a fun week ahead! It has been in the teens in Salt Lake, but a high of -5 is something else – BRR! Stay warm!!
yes, freezing today! The dogs were very quick to do everything this AM!
I have a lot of workout DVDs to choose from so today I’ll get a great at-home workout.
My b-day is Sunday…so happy early b-day!
*Almost* birthday twins!! :)
Happy Birthday, Becky! I hope it’s amazing and filled with all the yummy treats you share here on your blog. :)
