Weekly Health Goals

Good Morning!

Are you all having wonderful Sunday mornings? I’m enjoying my sunny, yet ridiculously cold – another balmy -15 degree morning here in Minneapolis, morning with a cup of green tea. :)

I don’t have much of a recap for you of my weekend. Like I mentioned last night, I was a complete bum yesterday after a late night on Friday. Today I plan on getting things done around the house and running errands during the Super Bowl. Lame? Maybe, but I’m not into either team and I am thinking that Target and Whole Foods will be suuuuuper quiet after 5pm!

From February 1st-February 21st, I am participating in an Intuitive Eating “Challenge” being led by Jamie from Studio Eats. We are focusing on eating intuitively by really listening to what our bodies want and need and enjoying food. Head on over to her blog to learn more about the challenge if you’re interested!

Because of this challenge, my weekly health goal is to follow Jamie’s daily advice and encouragement each day this week. Today I am focused on making each eating experience pleasurable. For me that means I need to STOP multi-tasking while eating. Turn off the computer, put away the book, stop making lists and just enjoy my meal – the smell, the taste, the texture, my hunger level. It is harder than it sounds :)

I’m excitedly anticipating our goals and advice for the next week and throughout the entire challenge – Jamie is a great health coach!

Last week, I made chicken enchiladas and, since Kyle is out of town for work, I ate them ALL week for lunch and dinner. Blech. I was so sick of them by Thursday so I will not be making that mistake again. I’m going to be making smaller portioned meals so I can get some variety into my life!

Are you a fan of leftovers? Can you eat the same thing all week?

Comments

  1. I’m excited to hear about your intuitive eating experience! It really is harder than it seems… You’ve inspired me to attempt to eat all of my meals in the kitchen without my computer (rather than at my desk while writing papers or studying).

And I hope you enjoy the quinoa salad!!

    • YAY! It really doesn’t even need to take that long to actually focus on what you’re eating. Just a quick 15 minute break!

  2. I’m from Minneapolis, glad im not currently home in that cold! I am horrible about eating while distracted. In the car, doing school work, watching TV, reading blogs you name it and I probably do it. Love leftovers!

  3. Im making some quinoa this week too…Im going to attempt a quinoa pizza casserole :) I need to try that salad too

  4. I make that same mistake ALL the time and end up burning myself out over the meal I cooked by Wednesday or Thursday. It definitely helps to switch it up and portion out different meals throughout the week.

  5. thanks for the shout out Becky!! You’re doing such an awesome job already :)

  6. Mmmm that quinoa salad sounds so good! Looks like a great week!
