Hi! Are you all having great weekends?
My weekend starting getting a WHOLE lot better Saturday afternoon after my antibiotics started taking full effect. I was able to get into my doctor Friday afternoon and was told that I had a sinus infection. She prescribed me Antibiotics + Claritin D + Mucinex D + Mega-Doses of Ibuprofen. WOAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH – I was pretty much in a drug-induced haze so Kyle had to take a cab home from the airport! He’s so lucky to come home from Puerto Rico to a drugged wife and a snowy-freezing cold climate ;)
Anyways, yesterday was pretty chill. I ran some errands in the morning, including a visit to Trader Joe’s. I haven’t been to Trader Joe’s in MONTHS and I forgot how affordable their organic produce is. I was able to purchase most of our weekly ingredients for less than $50. At Whole Foods this would have easily been over $100… TJ’s, you have a fan and I’ll be back every week!
I was tempted to purchase the “Cookie Butter” that I’ve seen a lot of blogger’s mention but the ingredient list freaked me out. I didn’t like that it included at least 3 different types of sugar and ingredients that I didn’t think should be in a form of peanut butter. I’m sure it tastes fantastic but I’m happy to have saved myself the $4 :)
I also started my February Foodie Pen Pal shopping! I have one more thing to get and then the wonderful package is going in the mail :)
The rest of the day, we basically bummed around the condo – napped, walked Mitchell, watched the Iowa State game and did a little cleaning. For dinner, I FINALLY got to use my new Le Creuset cocettes that Kyle got me for my birthday! I made individual servings of French Onion Soup. It cheesy and gooey and delicious. We also ate our weight in bread - bread (and cheese) is what makes this soup so fantastic.
Last night, I had a sip of Kyle’s wine (I am not suppose to have any alcohol with my antibiotics…) and we watched The Five-Year Engagement (hilarious!) followed by Couple’s Retreat (also hilarious!).
Okay, so now onto health goals. Workouts are going to be a little slow this week. I want to recover 100% before I push myself super hard. As for my meal plan, I didn’t end up making a lot of what I planned to last week so you’ll see a lot of repeats below.
I am on Day 10 of Jamie’s Intuitive Eating Challenge and starting today we are focusing on eating whatever we want and/or are craving but only eating when we are hungry. This one will be tough for me since I tend to graze and eat what is put in front of me. I am really going to pay attention to my hunger cues and drink TONS of water so I am not eating due to dehydration.

What are you making for dinner this week? Do you have any good recipes that you’d like to share?

I went to Trader Joe’s yesterday too :) I absolutely love that store. I could definitely benefit from eating what I want but only when I am hungry. Thanks for sharing the details of the challenge!
I am hoping that I can really focus on my hunger this week. It will be a challenge!
I love TJs too – but unfortunately, we can only go there when we are up in the cities and buying is limited because it has to sit in the car for at least 90 minutes back to Mankato. . . boo! Excited to hear where you guys are going for V-day dinner! I have sweet pork tacos cooking in the crock pot right now for dinner. yum (hopefully! new recipe!)
Ooooh that recipe sounds delicious :) Crock pots are my favorite!
I need to make a trip to it’s soon I love that place! Can’t wait for the push up workouts! I’m finishing up my foodie penal shopping today too!
Isn’t shopping for Foodie Pen Pals so much fun?!?
Everyone keeps mentioning that Cookie Butter! I feel like I should try it- you are brave for staying away, haha!
I love The Five Year Engagement– such a cute movie!
We are making turkey / veggie burgers tonight with avocado, cheddar cheese, caramelized onions & sweet potato fries on the side. Yum.
Ooooh your burgers sound delicious! And I love sweet potato fries :)
I cannot buy Cookie Butter anymore- the jar usually lasts less than a week in my apartment. I somehow find a way to slather it on everything! I’m always astounded at how cheap some of the Trader Joe’s products are! Other than Greek yogurt and a few brand-name products, I buy all of my groceries at TJ’s!
I’m glad I didn’t buy it then, Carly! I have a bad problem of eating peanut butter and Nutella by the spoonful. I’m sure I would do the same with Cookie Butter!
I just made a pot of turkey/mushroom sloppy joes. I have to post the recipe!
YUM! I’ll have to check it out when you post it :)
HOW! Seriously HOW do you not go to Trader Joe’s every week! Tell me because I would love to cut back! Haha.
I want to see 5-year engagement now that you said you loved it! I hope you are feeling better by now. Being sick is awful :(
glad you are feeling better! your meal plan for the week sounds so good….yeah the TJ cookie butter. I have 2 jars in my cupboard…dangerous…like eat with spoon dangerous.
