Weekend of Fun and How I’m Staying Healthy This Week!

**Calling all Minnesota bloggers! Katie from Running4Cupcakes and I are planning a fun Minnesota blogger gathering for April in Minneapolis! Contact either Katie or myself and follow us on Twitter for updates! Melanie, Diana, Azia  and Taylor have already decided to join in on the fun!**

Good Morning!

It is gloriously sunny in Minneapolis this morning. Sunny mornings always make me smile even if it feels like -1 outside :) It is suppose to get into the mid-30′s today so I am planning on running OUTSIDE for the first time in weeks this afternoon. I have a St. Patrick’s Day race that is quickly approaching and I NEED to get some running in before then!

Now, for a super quick recap of this weekend!

Friday night, Kyle and I headed to Broder’s Pasta Bar for a late dinner. Broder’s is one of the best pasta restaurants in Minneapolis and we love going there in the winter. They don’t take reservations so the wait time is typically an hour and a half for a table for two! We sipped on some wine and enjoyed some good people watching while we waited for our table :) If you ever go to Broder’s, make sure to get their roasted garlic appetizer - It is the best!

Yesterday, I woke up and thought it was Sunday. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it was only Saturday! It was like I had a whole extra day added to my weekend, ha!

In the morning, I headed to CrossFit for a ring dip/kettle ball swing/wall ball WOD that my shoulders are definitely feeling today. After CrossFit, Kyle and I headed over to The Shops at West End so I could make a trip to Lululemon. I had some pants that needed to be shortened and, let’s be honest, I’ll go there any chance I can get!

We then hit up Coastal Seafoods – a fresh fish Market in Minneapolis – to pick up some grouper for dinner and made a quick stop at Harriet Brewing since it was in the same neighborhood. It isn’t my favorite brewery in Minneapolis but I’m glad we had the chance to check it out.

The lighting was interesting in their tasting area which explains why Kyle is such an odd color ;)

This afternoon, after my run, we are heading out to meet some friends for a happy hour and then hopefully enjoying a relaxing night at home.

I am on Day Seventeen of Jamie’s 21 Day Intuitive Eating Challenge! I’m going to miss her morning emails when the challenge is over! This week, like the others, I am going to focus on eating what I am craving and what satisfies me when I am hungry and stopping when I am full. It is harder than it seems :) This morning I had a banana and a bagel with cream cheese which totally hit the spot! I’m a carb lover, what can I say?

My meal plan for this week is somewhat tentative. I tend to get my recipe inspiration at the grocery store and I haven’t actually gone grocery shopping yet this weekend!

As for fitness this week, I’m excited to say that I took advantage of an awesome Groupon deal for a yoga studio within walking distance from my condo! I love CorePower Yoga but the packages are ridiculously expensive so I’m always on the lookout for a deal :) I have a month of unlimited classes so you’ll be seeing a lot of yoga in my fitness plans in the coming weeks. It is so nice to “sweat it out” some days!

Comments

  1. Sounds like a fun weekend! I had a much needed relaxing weekend. I LOVE corepower yoga! I agree – it feels so good to sweat it out :)

  2. It looks like you had a fabulous weekend! And I have to say, very few things are better than a good bagel with cream cheese. So simple yet so tasty!

  3. Your fitness and meal plans sound great! I haven’t had sushi in a while, but after reading it in your plans, I might have to have some soon :)

  4. I want to be more like you, lol.

  5. You definitely know that a restaurant is good when you have to wait that long for a table!

I cannot wait to hear how the creamy butternut squash risotto turns out. Please share! :)

  6. Here in Scottsdale, AZ we don’t really have a “winter.” It gets chilly at night, down to about 40 degrees, but during the day it is still 60. Since it is molten lava hot at 120 degrees the rest of the year, my favorite winter workout is hiking through the gorgeous mountains here!

  7. A St. Patty’s day race sounds like fun! I should see if there are any around here

    • Yea! I’ve never done one before but I’m getting a green zippy hoodie for participating plus there is an “after-party” at one of the Irish bars downtown following the race. It should be fun!

  8. Hey Becky! I think we must be yoga-ing on the same wavelength lately because when I saw on FB that you attended your first yoga class in a long time, I had just gotten out of mine. Loving the ohm right now. :)

  9. What a fun weekend! In the winter I like to stay active inside :) I’m a big baby when it comes to the cold and would much rather get my sweat on inside.

    • I try to stay active inside too but sometimes I just get soooo bored! Treadmills and ellipticals can bore me to death :/ Do you have any fun fitness DVDs that you use?

  10. I’m loving Jamie’s challenge too!!!

  11. I’m SO excited your making the soup! let me know how it turns out!!

  12. I’m impressed with your organization for the week!
I like to take advantage of sunny winter days and head out with the dogs. Yesterday I had to get them out early and it was only 1 degree outside, but we got in a good long walk, the sun was out, and everyone felt great!

    • Your dogs are tough! I can’t get mine to stay outside when it is so cold – He starts limping so I actually had to buy him boots. Ha!

  13. I just started working on an elliptical and am loving it. After being diagnosed with runner’s knee, which seriously needs to just go away, I am trying to cross train.

  14. i so hear you about the sun shining…i haven’t been running nearly as much as i would like but i made sure to get out this weekend and enjoy the sun…even though it is so cold it makes such a difference to have the sun shining.
