A Quick Weekend Update

Happy Sunday!

The weather has been absolutely PERFECT here in Minneapolis this weekend – 70’s, sunny and no humidity. A great way to end the month of June :)

Because of the amazing weather going on outside and the fact that I ran 10 miles this morning and have about zero percent energy at the moment, this post is going to be short and sweet. Capeesh?

pizza nea

Friday night Kyle and I hit up Pizza Nea to use an expired Groupon – I get so mad when I realize that I missed using a great discount! – and then stayed out much too late enjoying wine and beer. This is part of the reason why my long run was today rather than on Saturday… that and the headache that seemed to appear out of nowhere after this night… ;)

Regardless of my headache on Saturday morning, I made it to the farmer’s market to stock up on some healthy greens and veggies for the week. I love my little farmer’s market! On that note, I have a random question… Is it “farmers” or “farmer’s” or “farmers'” market??! I never know where to put the dang apostrophe!

Around noon, my friends Jen and Natalie came over for some fun in the sun at my pool. Some pool time was just what I needed that afternoon. After gettin’ my tan on, I headed down the street to yoga to sweat out the remainder of my hangover. Not gonna lie, it was painful at first but totally worth it in the end!

Kyle and I were looking for a calm Friday evening so we headed to Dinkytown – the University of Minnesota’s campustown – and grabbed a super cheap dinner of burgers and fries at Annie’s and then – since I realized that I hadn’t had froyo since January, oh the shame!! – enjoyed a HUGE bowl of froyo at Yogurt Lab. Talk about a sugar high. I had no problem sleeping with all of that deliciousness in my belly on Saturday night!

And in case you’re wondering, I ate every last bit of that chocolate-y, sugary goodness in the photo below. Froyo is something that cannot and should not be shared!

Healthy living blogger right here, folks! No morning run + Burgers + Fries + Beer + Froyo! It’s all about moderation – you can’t eat veggies or strive for perfection all of the time ;)

This morning, I woke up early and headed out on my 10-miler. Phew – it wasn’t easy so I’m glad that it is over. More details on Tuesday!

After my run, I was ready to eat ALL of the food at my local Trader Joe’s plus the entire cheese market at the Whole Foods down the road and then stop for a gallon of froyo on the way back home… (read: HANGRY) Kyle quickly with a frightened look in his eyes so kindly suggested that we head to Wilde Roast Cafe for brunch.

Best. Idea. EVER! I got the breakfast burro with avocado and it hit the spot.

The rest of today is going to be spent napping, blogging, studying, walking Mitchell and grocery shopping – My life is about as exciting as the Wall Street Journal. Wait… the WSJ might actually be more exciting. #truestory

{Easy} Breakfast Cookie in a Mug!

It’s Friday!!!

Do you know what we’re going to do to celebrate? We’re going to enjoy cookies for breakfast!

So get your tummy ready for some fluffy, chocolate-y, cookie-filled goodness this morning!

Mug Cookie 2

What’s that you say? You don’t have time to bake this morning? You have to get to your job or catch the bus to class or drive your kids to soccer practice?

Well my friends, just like this post, these cookies are quick and easy and they require only 6 ingredients! So put your worries away, sit back and enjoy a delicious {Easy} Breakfast Cookie in a Mug!

Mug Cookie

{Easy} Breakfast Cookie in a Mug

Makes 1 Mug Cookie

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/2 tsp stevia (or one packet)
  • 2 TBSP coconut flour
  • 1 TBSP baking soda
  • 1 TBSP almond milk (you can sub any type of milk)
  • 1 1/2 TBSP mini M&Ms, separated

Mix all ingredients, except 1/2 TBSP of the M&Ms, in a microwavable mug or small bowl. Sprinkle the top with remaining M&Ms and cook in microwave for 30 seconds. Enjoy!

Mug Cookie 3

Ready in less than 2 minutes – easy, just like I promised. Plus, these cookies come in below 200 calories and provide 8 grams of fiber. So, not only will they satisfy your inevitable morning sweet tooth, they’ll also keep you full until lunch but without that guilty, “I just ate an entire pan of brownies” feeling.

On that note, if you do feel like eating an entire pan of brownies for breakfast, please make two pans and call me ;)

What’s your favorite breakfast go-to when you’re pinched for time?

I have a dog and a husband, do they count?

This little ABC Survey has been floating around the blogosphere for a week or so now. I saw it on Amanda’s blog earlier this week and decided that it was my turn to fill it out – enjoy!

A. Attached or Single? You’ve seen me mention Kyle around these parts, right? Since he is my husband and all, I guess I have to claim him ;) Attached!

B. Best Friend? Mitchell. Yep, I’m calling my dog my BFF. It’s true – I don’t know what I would do without the little monster.

C. Cake or pie? Cake fo sho! I’m a huge frosting lover so pie just doesn’t cut it for me!

Cake 5

D. Day of choice? I love Thursdays. Strange? I think it is the anticipation of the weekend being with reach and the fact that Fridays aren’t a “real” work day, especially if I get to work from home!

E. Essential Item? Chapstick. I tend to panic if I forget to throw a tube in my purse.

F. Favorite color? Pink!! From shoes to dresses to skirts to tops to nail polish to pens, it will always be pink! When the time comes, I better have girl children because if I have boys, they’re going to have to wear pink, ruffle-y dresses ;) I kid, I kid… kind of…

G. Gummy bears or worms? Honestly, I don’t really care for either. You can’t chew them all of the way which creeps me out!

H. Home town? Just outside of Ames, Iowa – I’d tell you the exact town but it has a population of approximately 300 and I’m certain you’ve never heard of it. Another random fact is that my high school graduation class consisted of 43 students. 43!!!

I. Favorite Indulgence? Chocolate + Peanut Butter. Is this even a question??! Outside of food, it is shoes and purses and fitness apparel. Unfortunately, I only like the expensive variety – HELP!

Reese's 4

J. January or July? Well, my birthday is in January BUT I hate the winter in a bad way so I’m going with July. It’s hot, it’s humid but the summertime is totally my jam ;)

K. Kids? I have a dog and a husband. Once they start behaving I’ll consider children. Deal?

L. Life isn’t complete without? Happiness.

M. Marriage date? May 1, 2010 :)

N. Number of brothers/sisters? I have one younger sister who is moving to Colorado soon – I can’t wait to visit her and my brother-in-law!! On a side note, she has blonde hair and blue eyes, we couldn’t look more opposite!

O. Oranges or Apples? Apples. I dread peeling oranges. They leave that nasty white film all over your fingers and it is just too time consuming. Apparently I’m lazy…

P. Phobias? Spiders, needles, flying, fainting, heights (mainly falling from them…) – If I had to choose one of these, it would probably be a tie between fainting and flying. I’m always afraid I’m going to pass out if I get nervous and flying and I do not get along. Ugh… #firstworldproblems

Q. Quotes? I don’t think that I have a favorite quote but here are two of my current favs…

steve jobs

R. Reasons to smile? I have some pretty awesome teeth! Honestly I really do (thanks mom and dad for the 2 sets of braces!!) but that is not why I smile, I smile to get my way. Kidding… except when it comes to Kyle – flashing my pearly whites will typically get me what I am asking/whining/begging him about ;) For real though, I smile because life is good on so many different levels. We’re all very, VERY privileged and I try to remember this and be thankful every single day.

S. Season of choice? I truly love fall. The humidity has gone. The days are hot but the mornings and evenings are cool. There is excitement in the air with the start of a new school season. I just love it!

T. Tag 5 People. Tag… you’re it!

U. Unknown fact about me? I went to space camp in Huntsville, Alabama… twice. My dream career as a teenager was to be an astronaut. Thankfully I chose a different career route considering the lack of funding for astronauts NASA is currently allotted!

V. Vegetable? Gosh I love vegetables! I love everything from frozen peas to carrots to roasted beets to spinach to squash to asparagus – Put a vegetable in front of me and I will gobble it down. Did I mention yet that I am strange?

W. Worst habit? Can I make a list? Wait, this is my blog, I can do whatever the heck I want! So here goes…

  1. I bite my nails and the skin around my nails unless I have a manicure. It’s gross, I know.
  2. I like to go to bed at 8pm – I blame my grandfather’s genetics. We would be perfect roommates.
  3. I’m a neat freak and hate any clutter around the condo. I have a feeling this causes more disagreements than necessary between Kyle and I.
  4. I clench my jaw. Bad for my teeth, bad for my facial muscles. *sigh*
  5. I’m addicted to social media. Instagram? Facebook? Twitter? Pinterest? I love them all in a bad, bad way.
  6. I hate talking on the phone. If I see someone is calling, most of the time I ignore it and then text them back to see what they want.
  7. I wear my emotions, thoughts, attitude on my face. You’ll always know what I’m thinking!
  8. I’m impulsive. Big decisions terrify me so I like to fly by the seat of my pants and just commit to something on the spot rather than think about it. I’ve never made a “pros vs. cons” list in my life and I don’t ever plan to!

X. Xray or Ultrasound? Xray. The goop they have to put on you for an ultrasound seems creepy and slimy <– neat freak tendency right here people!

Y. Your favorite food? I don’t know if I could choose just one! Peanut Butter, Chocolate, Bananas, Avocados, Watermelon, Bread… I love ALL the things!

Z. Zodiac sign? Aquarius. Think I fit the profile?

Your turn. Answer one of the questions!

Marathon Training – Week 3 Recap

Let me start with saying THANK YOU for all of your awesome tips and ideas for my running questions last week! I am going to do a recap post for all of my questions in a week or two so be on the lookout for some running tips and tricks!

Week 3 is complete!! Only 15 or so left to go ;)

I have two exciting accomplishments to share with you this week!

My first big accomplishment was my 3-mile run last Tuesday. I know what you’re thinking… what’s so big about a 3-miler when you’re going to have to run 26.2 miles in a few, short months??! Well, I ran these 3 miles at the fastest pace that I have EVER run!

Check out these splits – and ignore Mile 2, I accidentally dropped my phone so that timing is slightly off.

photo (1)

After finishing my 3 miles in 24:32, I have decided that I need to set a new goal for myself. Run a 5k with a sub 24 minute time! I am not sure if I’ll actually register for a 5k this summer but I will definitely get out and do one myself to try to meet my goal :)

My second proud accomplishment of the week was my long, 9-mile run on Saturday. In addition to it being the longest run I have been on since 2011, it was also hot and humid on Saturday morning so, needless to say, I was expecting a complete disaster of a run.

photo (2)

To my shock and awe, I completed my 9 miles at an average of a 9:10 pace for a total time of 82:30! This time even included jumping over downed trees from the Minnesota hurricane and walking for about about a minute to deal with a major Gatorade fail.

9 mile collage

About this fail… I thought I would try to use Gatorade as a fuel/hydrating solution during my long, training runs. Well, after running for about 3 miles I realized that this was not going to work. First of all, carrying the bottle was annoying. It was big and sloshy and heavy and made my hand hurt. Second, have you ever tasted warm Gatorade? Gag me with a spoon! (Do tweens still say this??!) I literally spit out the first warm sip that I took and bee-lined to the closest garbage can to dispose of my heavy, nappy-tasting beverage.

Thankfully, Honey Stinger sent me a big package of their products yesterday so I am going to give them a try on my long run this Saturday!

honey stinger

A few other fabulous highlights from my long run this week include NO side cramping, NO need to walk (except for the Gatorade issue…) and NO shoulder blade pain! I was also shocked when I saw my pace for my first few miles – I thought that I had been running slow at the beginning!

I am going to contribute these wins to a new technique I tried… I’m calling it lion breathing. If you are a yogi, you’ll likely be familiar with this breathing method. Every 1.5 miles or so, I would take in a deep breath and then strongly exhale (loudly like a lion or a hiss) all of the air from my lungs through my mouth. I’d do this about 5 times per set. Yes, I got some odd looks but I think this really helped to get oxygen into my lungs and muscles and get the carbon dioxide out!

Seriously y’all, this breathing technique felt awesome and I did not care in the least that those I ran by thought that I was strange.

My goal this week is to find Yurbuds and get fitted for new running shoes by the time my long run comes around on Saturday. I’ll be up to 10 miles this week and am still excited to continue to build my mileage!

If you’re new to ONW, check out my previous marathon training recaps!

How do you breath during your long runs? Warm Gatorade, have you tried it?

Reese’s Cheesecake Brownies

By this point, you are all well aware of my obsession love for the combination of peanut butter and chocolate.

In my mind, there is nothing better than the taste  of salty peanut butter and rich, gooey chocolate together in one big bite.

Reese's 4

The dessert I’m sharing with you today combines my favorite flavors plus the decadent, creamy, mouth-watering perfection of cheesecake.

Okay, I know what you’re thinking… Becky, gimme a break, it’s bikini season. Why are you tempting me with all of this chocolate-y goodness??!

Trust me, I am well aware of the temptation and would like to let you know via this public service announcement that if you enjoy these booty-enhancing goodies standing up, the calories don’t count. At least that is what my grandma used to say ;)

Okay, so now that we’ve come to the conclusion that these babies are calorie-free, I am going to make them even more appealing. These brownies are easy to make.

Reese's 2

Yes, easy. And by easy, I mean I cheated and used boxed brownie mix for the bottom layer. I know, I know… but it is summer and I don’t like wasting spending precious sun and pool time in the kitchen! And making brownies from scratch when the pool is calling my name? Ain’t nobody got time for that!

So let’s get down to business.

Reese's 1

A layer of fudgy, chocolate-y brownie, a layer of Reese’s Pieces cheesecake, a layer of melted chocolate all topped with a layer of mini Reese’s.

For the love of all things holy, make these.

Reese's 5

Reese’s Cheesecake Brownies (Adapted from Pip & Ebby)

Makes 24 brownies

  • 1 box fudgy brownie mix – I used Market Pantry brand
  • 8 oz cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 4 oz, “movie-sized” box Reese’s Pieces
  • 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 bag mini Reese’s Cups, chopped

Preheat oven to 350 degrees and spray a 9×13 pan with nonstick spray. Prepare brownie mix per the instructions on the box and spread into pan. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese with milk and peanut butter until blended and creamy. Stir in Reese’s Pieces by hand then spoon cream cheese mixture over brownie batter and smooth with a spatula. Bake for 40 minutes or until brownies are completely cooked. Remove from oven and allow to cool to room temperature. (I let mine cool overnight in the fridge.) Once cooled, melt chocolate chips per package instructions and spread over brownies. Top with chopped Reese’s Cups while the “frosting” is still warm. Store in refrigerator. Enjoy!

reese's 3

And what about that thing we like to call bikini season? I hear boot-ays are in this year plus there’s a little rumor going around that men like a little extra junk in the trunk ;)

Peanut + Chocolate – Yay or nay? What other dessert combinations do I need to add to my repertoire?

The Minnesota Hurricane + A Birthday!

Happy Sunday!

I hope y’all are having a great weekend!

Friday started with a glass of wine and some studying before heading out to dinner. I was planning on making meatball subs but realized the turkey in our fridge was waayyy past its prime and I don’t like to take risks when it comes to food safety, especially with meat. So, it being Kyle’s birthday weekend, I let him pick the restaurant and he chose Loring Pasta Bar!

Loring Pasta Bar is in Dinkytown (the University of Minnesota’s campus area) and has super affordable pasta and wine along with live jazz music on Friday nights. They also have a funky atmosphere that has a cool vibe to it.

Just as we were seated for dinner, a HUGE storm hit the Minneapolis metro area. I’m talking 50+ MPH winds and torrential rain. It honestly felt like we were in the middle of a hurricane! Thankfully we were safe and sound indoors but multiple neighborhoods received a lot of damage, like downed and/or completely uprooted trees, and are without power until tomorrow – that’s Friday-Monday with no AC, no fridge, no light, no hot water – yikes!

Anyways, for dinner we started with an olive and cheese plate and a bottle of cheap-ish ($30) Montepucliano d’Abruzzo Italian wine. I only had about 1.5 glasses of the wine because of my long run scheduled for Saturday morning! I was hoping to see spaghetti and meatballs on the menu since that is ALL I have been craving before and after my long marathon training runs but alas, there were no meatballs on the menu. I went for the next best thing which was a vegetarian spaghetti bowl and it was AMAZING! Good choice, Becky :)

I went to bed right after dinner since I knew I was going to be up early the next morning for my scheduled 9-mile run!

I woke up on Saturday starving, per the usual – does anyone else have this problem??! – so I made myself banana and peanut butter sandwiches for some pre-run fuel. I got the idea from Michelle on Friday! It is seriously the perfect snack to enjoy before a long run.

After my run (which went REALLY well BTW – more details on Tuesday!), Kyle mentioned that he wanted to go to Canterbury Park to watch a few horse races. Since it was his birthday, I obliged – Canterbury is not one of my favorite places so we don’t go that frequently. Kyle also requested that we stop at Glam Doll Donuts for lunch on the way down to the races and again, it being his birthday and all, I couldn’t not let him have a donut for his birthday lunch ;)

donut case

Holy moly y’all, Glam Doll Donuts has the best donuts! If you’re coming into town for HLS, put Glam Doll on your must-see destination list! (As a side note, once the event gets closer, I’m going to do a Minneapolis Must-Sees post for all you out-of-towners!) I got the Cosmopolitan Girl which is a cake donut topped with peanut butter and chocolate frosting. O to the M to the G. Get this.

pb donut

After we were sugared up, we headed down to CanterburyPark – aka: Kyle’s Heaven. Seriously, the man loves horse racing like a fat kid loves Doritos and cake and Pepsi!

Once we arrived, I was excited to find out that it was food truck day at the track! There were 20 food trucks around the park that day so Kyle and I walked around to see what there was to offer. Since we just had donuts, we weren’t hungry but decided to share a small basket of sweet potato fries to balance out the donuts ;) Apparently there is now a cupcake food truck AND a donut burger food truck… the things people will eat!

We stayed for a few races and then headed home to get ready for Kyle’s birthday dinner at The Oceanaire. Since the Blackhawks game was on an hour before our dinner reservations, we stopped at the Six15 Room in The Grand Hotel for a pre-dinner drink so Kyle could watch the first period of the game. Kyle ordered a negroni while I opted for a skinny margarita – fresh lime juice + agave make for the best margaritas in my opinion!

The hotel is super swanky and feels like it is out of a scene of The Great Gatsby. I had to do an awkward selfie in the bathroom after a few women complimented my dress ;)

Once we finished our cocktails, we headed a few blocks down the street to The Oceanaire – one of the best seafood places in Minneapolis. I was beyond excited when I realized they were offering a promotion for a bottle of Kim Crawford + 12 oysters for $39!! The restaurant typically sells oysters for $3.50 each and a bottle of Kim Crawford for $57 so there was no hesitation on my part in ordering this pairing!

Kyle’s also a huge fan of mussels so after our oyster course (of which Kyle ate the majority, I can only stomach a few raw oysters!), we enjoyed steamed mussels in a healthy, calorie-free butter and wine sauce ;)

For dinner, I ordered crab-stuffed shrimp with linguine – I pretty much eat nothing but pasta these days! – while Kyle decided on the salmon duet. Both were amazingly fresh and the perfect portion sizes.

Even though we were SO full from dinner, it was Kyle’s birthday so I served him up a piece of homemade ice cream cake that I made on Friday – recipe to come!

We don’t have any big plans for the day – I deep-cleaned the fridge this morning and plan to do the same to my closet this afternoon – I lead an exciting life, what can I say? :)

As for food this week, Kyle and I are currently working on project “eat everything in the freezer and cupboards” so this week’s meal plan incorporates a lot of the ingredients we already have on hand!

My post is all about how to train and prepare for your first marathon (or any race!) – Make sure you head on over and check it out!

Wine That’s Fun!

Another day, another bottle of wine – er… another glass of wine. Yes, another glass of wine… that’s what I mean to say…

Anyways, that’s been my motto lately ;) You see, summer means warm weather and warm weather calls for patios and patios call for parties and – you’ve probably already guessed it but – parties call for great wine!

And today, I have a great wine to share with you. Perfect timing, right?

ONW readers I’m pleased to introduce you to Wine That’s Fun. Yep, you read that right, FUN wine also known as: WTF!

Wine Thats Fun

Steve, a high school classmate of mine, and his wife Heather are the owners of WTF and have created some seriously amazing, down-to-earth, delicious, easy-to-drink wine!

After learning more about their wine, I decided to become a member of their “WTF Official Wino” club – Sounds perfect for me, right? As an Official Wino, I receive a shipment of WTF to my doorstep every quarter which is crazy convenient – no going to the wine shop, no spending hours trying to pick out a bottle to purchase, I just have to walk home after work and BAM! wine at my door. Plus, who doesn’t love receiving mail, especially mail containing wine??!

I signed up for their Lil’ WINO membership which means I get 1 bottle of each of their varieties (Chardonnay, Moscato and Zinfandel) in each shipment.

official vino

I received my first shipment last week and since I wanted to review all three of the wines for you, I decided that it was my responsibility over the last few days to try each bottle. #drinkALLthewine

Seriously y’all, reviewing wines for the blog is hard work ;)

Anyways! The first bottle that I opened was the WTF 2011 California Chardonnay. Like I mentioned before, I am NOT a Chardonnay fan. It is typically too sweet for me and I just can’t stomach it. But the WTF Chardonnay is different, waayyy different than the lackluster bottles I’ve tried before and I loved it!

wtf chard

It was the perfect start to a Friday evening on the patio. Kyle and I enjoyed it with brie, smoked cheddar and crackers and it paired nicely with each – This wine would be a great option to bring to a backyard party, to give as a hostess gift or to serve at a bridal shower.

Not quite as “tart” as a Sauvignon Blanc and much less sweet than a traditional Chardonnay, the WTF Chardonnay is a win in my book!

The second bottle I opened was the WTF 2011 California Moscato. Similar to Chardonnays, I’m not a Moscato fan… apparently I’m particular with my wines!! But just like I was pleasantly surprised by the WTF Chardonnay, I was equally – if not MORE – surprised by how much I enjoyed WTF Moscato.

wtf moscato

Yes, it is still sweet and it will still please all of you Moscato lovers out there but it also won’t scare away you Moscato haters either ;)

Since it is sweeter than the wines that I typically drink, I think I’ll plan on using my future bottles for sangria. More sweet wine in a sangria recipe equals less sugar consumption equals happy Becky!

And last but definitely not least, I opened the WTF 2011 California Zinfandel. Remember Kyle’s 3-year rule? Yeah, I ignored that this time around too ;)

I honestly don’t have that much experience with Zinfandel so I didn’t know what to expect with this bottle! Similar to the Chardonnay and the Moscato, WTF Zinfandel is refreshing and easy-to-drink – a great summer red wine!

And although Steve and Heather branded their wine for those of us who aren’t wine snobs, I offered a glass of each of the WTF wines to my wine snob (aka: Kyle) and he approved! He also proceeded to drink the remainder of my bottles which just means I’ll need to order a larger case next time ;)

If you’re interested in becoming an Official Wino, head over to WTF’s website – Steve and Heather will be able to answer all of your questions!

What’s your favorite type of wine? Have you tried WTF yet?

Currently Lovin’

I’m lovin’ quite a few things in life right now as well as things I’ve found via the interweb (do people still use this term??!) recently so I thought I’d share them with y’all today!

You know, to put a little smile on your face this Thursday :)

I have made it my personal vendetta to make the below ecard a reality. I’m scheduling some time with Triple G (my nickname for the bossman/Target CEO) tomorrow to share my strategy. It is going to be a huge profit driver for the company. Think about it, us women already have issues with spending too much money at Target, add in a little mimosa action and think of how much we would throw into our carts!

I’m also going to request a corner office with a mini-bar after I quadruple Target’s annual sales with this new strategy ;) Think Triple G will be down?

Eat ALL the energy bars! Seriously you guys, Katie’s Chia Peanut Butter Power Bars are pretty much the best thing I’ve tasted in years. AND, we’re going to call them healthy because they involve oats and chia seeds and peanut butter.

I’m currently taking applications for someone to drive/bike/run next to me during my marathon and pop a bite of one of these babies into my mouth every few miles. I promise I’ll share… Who’s in?

My new Eat More Rabbit Food tank top! Catherine from Rabbit Food For My Bunny Teeth is one of my favorite bloggers – she shares easy, healthy recipes, has an amazing weight loss story and her blog name is super cute too! She is selling new tanks and I just ordered one this morning – I can’t wait to sport this one on hot summer days :)

The vision of a HUGE plate of spaghetti and meatballs keeps me motivated on my long marathon training runs. I cannot wait to carbo load the night before my race… I know I still have a few months to go but man, the promise of spaghetti is keeping me going!

My view. I cannot get enough. I’m going to soak up all of the early morning sunrises over the next couple of months. Waking up to this view every morning makes me the happiest person in the world :)

The Beautiful Mess App! If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably noticed I’ve been adding in words and doodles and a whole lotta fun to my photos recently. Thanks to De, I was introduced to this amazing app and am now obsessed :)

Chobani! The lovely Chobani team sent me two cases of yogurt earlier this week and I’ve been trying out new flavors every morning since! This morning it was banana which I LOVED!! Nom nom nom…

And finally, Notes from the Universe daily emails. I wake up every morning and find inspiration for my day with these emails! Another great find by De – seriously, this girl finds and shares the most uplifting and encouraging things!

What are YOUR favorite things at the moment?

You just got chicked!

**Before I get into my marathon update, I have a BIG announcement! Remember my Muesli Fusion Banana-Chocolate Truffles? They’ve been chosen as a finalist in a recipe contest! I’d love for your support and for your vote for my truffles on Facebook :) Thanks a bunch!**

I have an exciting, new-to-me brand to tell you about today – Chicked!

Chicked donates a portion of their proceeds to the Women’s Funding Network <– Check out their website, they do some really great things for women around the world.

Plus, did you check out their definitions of “Chick” and “Chicked” above? I would SO love to be the chick that chicked a bunch of men in my upcoming marathon ;)

Jennifer was kind enough to give me one of her Original “You Just Got Chicked” t-shirts last week for my marathon training! I sadly don’t have a full photo of me in the shirt (check out Chicked’s image below for the super cute design on the back!) – I have been so excited to get outside on my runs that I forgot to snap a full picture beforehand and, well, no one wants to see a sweaty photo of me after I’ve completed a run ;)

Besides lovin’ the super cute stick figure muscles on the front and back of the shirt, I LOVE how comfortable and easy-to-wear Chicked apparel is! It is truly designed for women by women which – as a female athlete – I greatly appreciate :)

I would also really like to add the Chicked Running Tank Top and the Chicked Capris to my marathon training wardrobe as well – I gotta let all of the men I pass know that they just got Chicked!

I could not be more excited about Chicked – the fact that they are a Minneapolis company, their support of women everywhere and their stylish yet functional apparel line!

Have you ever chicked someone? Are you a chick? ;)
