Confession: I forgot how exhausting the working world is. Actually having to look presentable in the mornings followed by a commute followed by talking with people all day really tires a gal out… I know I will adjust and find more energy in a week or two but man, once 7pm hits, I am ready for bed!
Confession: Taking the Metra to work makes for a LOONG morning. A 15-minute walk followed by a 45-minute train ride followed by a 15-minute bus ride to get to the office in the ‘burbs equals over an hour commute. Gross. Thank goodness I only have to do this 2x/week (once I get the hang of things around the office) and can be downtown the other 3 days… If I had to do this commute each day, I would have already quit. I’m not a commuter and never will be which is why I live downtown :)
Confession: I actually do like
one two things about the Metra commute. One of those being that you can drink adult beverages on the train. While my manager probably wouldn’t appreciate a morning mimosa on the way to work, you better bet that I’ll be cracking open some wine one night a week! (Note to self: Invest in 100′s of mini, single-serve wine bottles for evening commutes home.)
The second thing I actually like about the commute is that I walk through this cute little French bistro market in the evenings when I leave the train station. They have bread and cheese and olives and an assortment of salads and it is my kind of paradise. Katie and I are going to be meeting there for a happy hour in a few weeks and I’m pumped!
Confession: I’m really enjoying my daily dose of orange juice that I’m taking with iron supplements. Thanks to Katie’s doctorly advice, I know I should take my pills with some Vitamin C in order for my body to better absorb the iron. P.S. Do NOT start taking iron supplements without the counsel of your doctor! I have a post coming on Friday alllll about iron but most people don’t need it.
Confession: I’m happy to report that my after-work ritual is still the same. Walk in the door. Kiss Mitchell’s nose. Take off pants. Take off bra. Put on gym clothes. Wash face. Each post-work ritual feels better than the last ;)
Confession: I’m going to be in Nashville this weekend for my cousin’s wedding and need some ideas of what to do during the day on Saturday! I already have some thoughts in mind thanks to Jackie but I’d love to know the main attractions that I NEED to visit within my 4-hour window :) The BEST place to eat, the BEST touristy place and the BEST music place are all things I’d love to experience!
What are your confessions? How long is your commute to work?
