#27 Treat Yourself Tuesday

So many treats, so little time… Have the past few weeks flown by for anyone else?

Whew – I feel like last Tuesday was just yesterday. Regardless of the days flying by, I still found some time in my days to treat myself and I hope y’all did too!

Treat Yourself Tuesday Badge

If you’re new to TYT, head over here to read about why I am a firm supporter and advocate for treating ourselves – even in the smallest of ways – everyday! I promise you will fall in love with the idea and once you do, please link up below :)

Jamberry Collage

First of all, Jamberry Nails! This was my first time (besides a quick accent finger over the holidays…) trying a full set of nails and I received SO many compliments. The St. Patrick’s Day design was perfect and although it took a bit of learning to get them applied – the process was quick, easy and Becky fool-proof ;) I also bought some fun, summery designs since they currently have a buy 3, get 1 deal!

Someone – ahem, Kyle! – brought home a multi-pack of my personal Easter crack. Does anyone else eat these eggs by the dozen? I may have treated myself to a few over the weekend…

photo 2 (70)

Iced tea – finally! Although it isn’t super warm yet, it is starting to feel a bit more like spring here in Chicago and spring calls for iced drinks from Starbucks. I got this one for free (Gold Card Rewards!) and a free refill as well. Budget win ;)

Shopping is my cardio… but not really. (Although if you read TYT frequently, you might think shopping could stand in for my daily gym session!) I saw Catherine post this top from Target on Instagram and knew I immediately needed it. Thank goodness for that thing they call the internets – I found it online and had it shipped right to my door ;)

stitch fix necklace

I received my Stitch Fix package a few weeks ago and am just now sharing with you what I kept. The sizing was a bit off on my last order – a few things were too large and a few were too small, so weird! This necklace fit just right and I still had a gift card from my sister for my birthday so it was fareeee which makes it even better.

photo 1 (72)

Cookies :) I was having a serious baking craving – it had been forever since my last baking extravaganza – so I whipped up a *healthy* batch of cookies. Recipe coming soon!

photo 3 (69)

Confession – I had never had a Shamrock Shake until yesterday. I know… I remember my friends talking about them in high school and me turning my nose up thinking they were some sort of spinach concoction. (If I only knew then what I like to eat now…) Anyways, I convinced a few of my coworkers to hit up one of the 6 McDonald’s in walking distance from our office – that statistic is accurate and disturbing at the same time – and we treated ourselves to a St. Patrick’s Day treat! It was delicious until my stomach starting hurting. I think the 80 or so grams of sugar (another accurate statistic for y’all!) might have contributed to that.

photo 2 (71)

Sephora <3 I have been lusting after this facial moisturizer for quite some time now but the price tag is a hefty one so I waited patiently for a gift card. Lo and behold, I received one last week! It covered most of my Sephora trip making it another affordable treat. Also, to my surprise and delight, this moisturizer is the consistency of a buttercream frosting AND it has a faint vanilla frosting scent. I have a feeling this might become an expensive habit ;)

My final treat of the week is relaxing with a good book. It is so nice to just sit back at the end of the day and read for a few minutes before going to bed. I started this new book that my mom gave me for Christmas recently and I can already tell it’s going to be a good one!

How did you treat yourself this week?

What’s your take on McDonald’s Shamrock Shake? Definitely too much sugar for my taste! I could have shared a small with 4 other people.

    • Blech – don’t worry, you’re not missing out on the sugar-induced stomach aches. And the nails are so fun, aren’t they?!

  4. I am excited for this cookie recipe :) And by the way, no shame in baking cookies for the dough. That’s my reason for it at least 1/2 the time!

I hope you get some cardio (read: shopping) in this week so I can see your finds next TYT :)

    • Haha – glad you’re supportive of my dough eating ;) The cookies are SOOO good – can’t wait to share them!

  5. My treats this week were lots of muffins and reading. Probably not a treat for my waist but definitely a treat for my soul. Maybe this week I will treat myself to some tough workouts to balance it all out ;)

  6. I am OBSESSED with jamberry nails. I wish I would have thought ahead and ordered some good ones for st. patrick’s day! your nails look fab!!!
Sarah @ Absolutely Ridiculous recently posted…Treat Yourself TuesdayMy Profile

  7. I treated myself to a box of Annie’s Bunny Grahms…sounds stupid but usually have no room in the budget for them LOL. Shamrock shakes ARE delicious but full of sugar….that’s why I make my owN!

  8. I have never had a shamrock shake either, I honestly don’t even know what flavor they are. are they minty?? love those nails, the gold nail is the best touch.

  9. I loved Shamrock shakes in college, like, seriously loved. Then I tried one again a couple years ago for the first time in years and it was much less delicious than I remembered and way too much sugar (and I have a HUGE sweet tooth!). I’m also obsessed with those Jamberry nails! I’ve never heard of them but they look amazing. I hate doing my nails because I’m terrible at it and I’m so impatient that I always smudge it immediately.
Kim @ BusyBod recently posted…Zumba with me at Reebok Westchester! My Profile

    • I typically smudge my nails SO quickly which is why Jamberry works great for me. You’ll have to check them out!

  10. I used to wait all year for Shamrock shake season and cry when it was over. Now, they give me heartburn. But still tasty and worth it once a year
Kelly @ hidden fruits and veggies recently posted…Pearls Olives to Go GiveawayMy Profile

  11. This year was my first year trying the Shamrock Shake as well! I thought it was okay, but I would have rather wasted my sugar intake on a DQ Blizzard. =)
Reese’s eggs are also my Easter crack.
I have some Jamberry nails sitting in my closet that I want to use but still haven’t used them! If I don’t put them on before Chicago I might bring them with so I can try them out!
Melanie @ BeautifullyNutty recently posted…Corned Beef and Cabbage SoupMy Profile

    • Agree on the DQ part ;) Especially if we’re talking a Reese’s Blizzard! Yes, bring your nails to Chicago, we’ll have a manicure night.

  12. I love Shamrock shakes, but have to split one with Scott because of the sweetness! Actually its more like he drinks 3/4 of it and I drink 1/4…which is perfect!
Katie @ daily cup of kate recently posted…Vegas Recap Day 1 & 2My Profile

    • That does sound like the perfect ratio, Katie! Next time I’ll give Kyle the tummy-ache instead of myself ;)

  13. Love the necklace!!
I’ve never had a shamrock shake from McDs..what’s it taste like? Minty?
I treated myself to…AdvoCare ;) some tight pants that won’t be tight after the AdvoCare challenge (insert laugh here), and some new heels! :)

Reeses are my crack PERIOD. :-/ Doesn’t have to be Easter.

    • Yes, minty and ice cream-y but not overly minty… more creamy like? That was probably the worst description ever but they’re definitely worth the try.

  14. Those cookies look so good! I can’t wait for the recipe. I’ve never had a Shamrock Shake either, but I’m okay with that. I’ll have my calories for something tastier … and less green :)
Laura Dembowski recently posted…Lime Meltaways #SundaySupperMy Profile

  15. I don’t think the shamrock shake is worth the calories for the flavor. I’d much rather have a cupcake!
Jackie recently posted…{Tasty Tuesday} microwave apple muffinMy Profile

  16. I used to LOVE Shamrock Shakes as a kid! They were my favorite treat and reason to get McDonalds in March. Now, I would rather make a spinach smoothie with some mint which tastes SO much better! :)

  17. Oh man, super jealous of your shamrock shake. I am going to have to get me one of those this weekend. And I’ll be a nice wife and share with Scott. :)
    Katie @ running4cupcakes recently posted…TYT #8: Freezer MealsMy Profile

    • Hahaha… what a nice wifey you are, Katie :) I wish I would have shared mine now – my stomach STILL hurts.

  18. I have no skill when it comes to painting my own nails, so I will definitely be checking out those nail decals. That would make my life so much easier (and prettier!).
Taryn recently posted…The Good Luck of Right NowMy Profile

  19. I am so anti mint as a sweet so I have never had one. I think I would have been flying off the wall with all the sugar though! Love the necklace!

  20. I’ve never actually had a Shamrock Shake! I feel like I’m missing out…
Sam @ Better With Sprinkles recently posted…Honey Vanilla Peanut Butter. My Profile

    • No – don’t do itttttt! Seriously, my stomach still hurts/feels off. BLECH. Maybe I’ll figure out a way to make a version with a bajillion times less sugar ;)

  21. I definitely did a little too much shopping this week to treat myself… and I got my nails done (which I always do, because I get gel nails/I’m too lazy to do them myself).

I tried a shamrock shake once, many moons ago. I can barely do natural sugars in big amounts after 21DSD, let alone 5 different types of fake ones in a cup.

It’s so funny to think how younger us would think of how older us eats. I always ate pretty healthy because my family ate healthy, but spinach in a drink? green juice? never in my wildest dreams.

  24. Loving your necklace! I treated myself on Friday with sitting on the couch all day and just resting up after being sick. It did wonders on my body and it felt good to not being running in a million directions!

    • Resting is so important and such a great treat. Lately I have just been lounging for a few hours each weekend and it feels so good!

  25. Confession: I’ve never had a shamrock shake. I actually had no idea they were a thing before I started reading blogs and saw healthier versions popping up around this time of the year. Are they minty? Am I missing out? I’d rather have a few of those Reese’s eggs, buuuuuut I’ve never had one of those either. Pesky allergies

Treats over the past little while… hmm… new movies and new books. Now if only I could find the extra time to enjoy them!
Amanda @ .running with spoons. recently posted…. crazy for carbs .My Profile

    • They’re slightly minty and oh so tasty but NOT worth the tummy ache. Oooohhhh, my stomach still feels off, ha! I feel ya on actually finding the time for new movies and books – I think we need to learn to just make the time ;)

  26. The Reese’s eggs are the BEST! The holiday versions are always the tastiest because I swear they have 3 times as much PB in them, which is my favorite part!
    Hannah @ CleanEatingVeggieGirl recently posted…You Know You’re a Food Blogger When…My Profile

    • AGREED. Seriously, they need to have some version year round. It makes the normal Reese’s so much less superior ;)

  27. I am a shamrock shake virgin, and I think I’ll remain that way. ;->
All of your other treats look divine, including the nails. We don’t have any Easter crack around the house and baked goods are few and far between at this house, but I loved looking at your treats!

  30. I don’t think I’ve had a Shamrock Shake, either. I might have to try one…one day :)

I LOVE nail stickers and your St Paddy’s day ones were so cute!
Ange @ Cowgirl Runs recently posted…Treat Yourself Tuesday: 3/18My Profile

  31. I cannot do Shamrock Shakes. In high school I would get one every year, but I had the same issue as you — they always made me feel so sick, and even though I really like mint, I don’t particularly like the mint flavor in Shamrock Shakes. One year in college I went with a friend to McDonald’s while she got one, and though I really thought about it, I was like, “Why do I keep doing this to myself? These things are AWFUL!” So I didn’t get one and haven’t gotten one since (nor have I missed it!).
Bethany @ accidental Intentions recently posted…RelaxationMy Profile

    • Blech – yes, this one will be my first and my last shake! It was tasty but definitely not worth the pain that my stomach is still in…

  32. Love love love the necklace! I treated myself with 3 new pairs of running shoes this weekend. What can I say….doctors orders?!? Explanation is going up on the blog later this week. I also treated myself to a lunch out in the sun last weekend. I baked green tea pistachio muffins this weekend. They were dangerously good that I had bring the rest to work.

    • Ooooh those muffins sound amazing! And I love the doctor’s orders excuse for new shoes… I’m going to use that next time ;)

  33. I think Jamberry nails are just too fun! Love your St. Paddy’s Day nails!

Heck yes to the Reese’s Eggs. I’m embarrassed to admit how many I’ve had so far this year… And we still have a MONTH until Easter! I bet the stores are loving people like us. :)
Ashley @ My Food N Fitness Diaries recently posted…Now What?My Profile

    • Haha – yes, early seasonal sales are always welcome in the retail world! I work in retail and in candy actually so I’m appreciating us Reese’s lovers, haha ;)

  34. Erm.. I’m pretty dangerous around Reeses ;)
Lovin’ the nail color! Those Shamrock shakes are good.
Natalie @ lovenataliemarie recently posted…Enjoy NowMy Profile

  35. I COMPLETELY agree about the shamrock shake!! I love them but I had one after my 24 DC and ugh my tummy did not feel great! So many bad things in that shake, but it is so good! 1 was enough for me this year.
Better finish those chocolates before your challenge starts! I don’t know about you but if there is any chocolate in the house during my challenge I have a hard time staying away from it :)

Love that sweatshirt!! It is so you! and LOVE target :)

    • Oh man… my stomach is STILL not feeling right! I learned my lesson, McD’s is BADDDDD. I have to get rid of the more snacky (albeit healthy) items like big bags of nuts and dried fruit because I’ll eat those like it’s my job.

  36. looove reading, love the necklace, and the cookies, and seasonal Reese’s!

  38. Um yes. Time is flying by WAYYY too fast!! Like this past weekend that I was in Nebraska…where the heck did it go??

I’ve been wanting to try Jamberry nails! Do they last longer than regular nail polish? That would be the selling point for me! ;)

    • Once you get the hang of it, yes! And they’re better because they don’t cause chemicals to soak into your nail bed like nail polish :)

  39. Ok now I see the moisturizer you’re talking about! Ugh addicting I’m sure. I used to buy La Mer products and although I loved them not sure I could justify it anymore…then again TYT may change that for me lol. I’ve never tried one of those shakes either and now you’ve confirmed why lol. But those nail decals I’m going for!! Love all your treats!
