Live music, 22k steps, Patio season & Other weekend fun!

Happy Sunday!

How has your weekend been so far? It has been a great – dare I say, summery weekend here in Chicago!

On Friday, I enjoyed lunch in Millenium Park and these little guys thought they wanted some of my Chipotle ;)

Kyle and I enjoyed dinner and live music with his parents on Friday night.

The obligatory Friday night bathroom selfie ;)

I somehow navigated an Italian restaurant during my challenge – Broiled lemon salmon and clams atop sauteed spinach for the delicious win!

Saturday called for an early morning family walk…

… followed by body pump in my new Team Paws tank! Next up was brunch because girlfrand was starvingggggg! Kyle and I set out without a location in mind and walked and walked and walked some more (22k steps to be exact!) until we came upon Beatrix. It most definitely exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend it if you happen to be in Chicago!

Green power juice for her and a chocolate chai latte for him :)

Brunch was Mexican-themed – Shredded chicken, salsa, sunny eggs, and avocado. Yum times a million and two!

Naptime (needed after walking and brunch!) was followed by rooftop deck time in summer apparel – finally.

Little Goat has a rooftop bar that opened this weekend. It has a great view of the city and it felt so good to soak up the sun! We stopped by a new-to-us wine shop, Perman Wine Selections, on our way home. The owner is young and has an incredible amount of wine knowledge – I can’t wait to stop back in for their wine tasting events and to stock up on wine, obviously ;)

After a fun-filled day, Kyle left for the airport – he’s traveling to Brazil for work this week – and I hit up the nail salon and the grocery store for a super fun Saturday night, hehe…

Sunday morning came bright and early – it’s what happens when you let your dog sleep in your room with you!

I fit in a walk and a 4-miler followed by a HUGE unsweetened iced tea. #treatyoself

Mitchell Cone Man needed a bath in a bad way and I’m confident I got just as soaked as he did during the process…

After a very relaxing facial this afternoon, I arrived home to realize that I had locked myself out. Super convenient, especially since Kyle’s gone! Thankfully, the maintenance man saved the day.

In a few minutes, I’m heading to my inlaws for Passover. And yes, in case you were wondering, I will be having some matzo ball soup regardless of my 24DC ;)

Tell me what you did this weekend!

Have you ever locked yourself out of your apartment/house?

Comments

  1. I locked myself out of our house on the very day that we closed. People were here to deliver our fridge. They came in to check out the space, then we all walked out to their truck for them to actually bring the fridge in, and I realized I had locked us all out. By some miracle, I had my car keys so I could drive to my parents house nearby and figure out what to do. My husband wasn’t around and my cell phone/wallet/everything were in the house. It was quite a debacle!

  2. I have indeed locked myself out. Maintenance man was off duty and not on the premises. I had to wait for hours for my husband to come home. Luckily, the mall is just across the street, complete with Target.

It’s patio weather here too, so I fit in a 3K outdoors.

  5. Sounds like a fun weekend with the in-laws! It wasn’t quite as summery here (what’s new) but it was still warm enough for me to get outside a couple of times and I’m loving the ability to run outdoors sans freezing my butt off!!

Seriously, Mitchell looks so sad and adorable at the same time..when does he get his cone off??

  7. I’ve never locked myself out, but in my first apartment in Chicago the locks were huge, old deadbolts that used to swell in the summer and a few times I had to have my landlord come and pry the door open!

Every time I walk by Beatrix I want to try it- I must soon!

  11. It was almost 90 here. A little warm for this time of year but I will take it after freezing in WI the last two weekends! I got some serious steps in this weekend too walking outside and it felt great!

  12. Every time you eat another seafood spiked meal, the more awesome you are.

….why do you have ducks randomly strutting abouts? I thought you lived in the big city, bright lights. Fail.

    Weekend = not long enough.

  13. I have a key pad that opens my garage door because I lock myself out so often! In the last apartment I was in, I heard a noise outside, went out to investigate and locked myself out. In my pajamas (at like 2 pm…), no phone. My neighbor (never met him before!) saw me basically crying in our shared driveway and invited me in for a beer while I found someone to unlock me.

  14. Isn’t that the way it always happens – you can go months without locking yourself out or losing your keys, and as SOON as there is no one there to back you up, it happens! But it was definitely a beautiful weekend all around! Probably one of the first we’ve had all year!

  15. I locked myself out of my old house the day I moved in. I had to call the locksmith and had no proof that I lived there. It was the second time I had done that on the day I have moved into a house!

  17. I’ve never locked myself out of my apartment….. but thats only because I have to physically lock my door with a key but I have locked my keys in my car a couple times! It always sucks!! So glad to see you enjoyed the warm weather last weekend! It was so nice here….. and now it’s blah again! Hopefully it warms up again for the weekend!
