#52 Treat Yourself Tuesday

Hi!! How’s everything going?

Between prepping for the move, spending the entire weekend at Body Pump training, and wrapping things up at work, I feel like I’m so behind in all of your lives! You have to promise me to let me know what’s going on in your lives in the comments section today, mmkay??

If you’re new to TYT, head over here to read about why I am a supporter and advocate for treating ourselves – even in the smallest of ways – everyday! I promise you will fall in love with the idea and once you do, please link up below :)

Now, for the treats!

First of all, I found Kyle and I a place to live in Florida! Whoop! That was most definitely not an easy task, especially since I was doing it remotely and he was in Europe for work last week. Needless to say, I’m glad that’s over and now I can relax and focus on more important things… Like how many bikinis and pairs of flip flops I need to own as a Floridian <– Is that the write descriptor for a resident of Florida?!

Y’all already know this, but I completed my Body Pump training AND I passed! 3/3 :) I was certain I was only going to get a 2/3 and was really pushing myself for the last element… Even though a 2/3 is the same outcome, I’m so happy I pushed myself to get the score that I wanted! I’m giving myself until tomorrow to rest up my sore muscles and then it’s back at it. Kyle is going to be my BP guinea pig over the next few weeks as I practice on perfecting all of the tracks ;)

I splurged at Nordstrom Rack last week and treated myself to two pairs of new sandals! I mean, I am going to be living in Florida and all ;) Also, all summer items are on sale in Chicago now so I’m trying to snag the deals while they last.

Confession – I haven’t cut my hair since December… Until last night that is! I chopped off 6 inches and my new ‘do feels and looks so much better and healthier. The reason I went so long is because my darn hair is still falling out (or, I guess, shedding more than normal to phrase it correctly…) and my dermatologist thinks I’m a crazy person for continuing to bring it up, so I’m just dealing with it for now. I mean, I don’t look bald or anything but my hair should NOT be falling out excessively for over a year, #amiright?! Needless to say, I’m excited to treat myself to a new, nicer derm when we’re in Florida but for now, a new haircut will do the trick :)

Finally, I got new glasses last week! (Including my sunglasses above.) My prescription changed just slightly and my old frames were a few years old so I decided to switch it up :)

I must say, I think I had a pretty good week of treating myself! I hope you all did as well :)

  3. I am just catching up on all of my fav blogs and can’t believe you will be moving to Florida- what an exciting time!! Also- LOVE your glasses. I am looking for a new pair as well- what brand are they!?

    • Haha surprise! My glasses are Prada – I got them at a small optometrist office here in Chicago so I’m sure you can find them near you :)

  4. Congrats on the BobyPump cert!! I’ve got a hair appointment at the end of the month and I definitely need to find something that’s going to hold me over for a year… ;)

    • LOL, just a little trim. That should last for a year. Although I’m certain there will be places to get your hair cut along your route!

  5. Your hair looks awesome! You definitely need a few new pairs of sandals as a Floridian – yes, that’s proper terminology. But you do need a better dermatologist. Like ugh he/ she sounds like a total jerk. Good doctors are so important!
Laura Dembowski recently posted…Granny’s Zucchini Bread #SundaySupperMy Profile

    • Thanks Laura! It feels so much healthier now too! And yes, my derm is not the best. I’m on the lookout for a new one in FL!

  6. Love the new hair! I haven’t cut mine since April. I still haven’t found a person I like in Phoenix but now I’m starting to look like I have a mop on my head. Have you checked your iron and B levels? Mine fell out excessively when my B12 disappeared few yrs back.

    • I just went to a cheapy cheap place near my apartment. I’m not too particular about my cuts and nothing can beat a $15 price! My iron was the main issue but it’s been back to normal since April and still nada.

  7. Congratulations again on passing BP – I knew you would!! And I am loving your new glasses. Adorable. :)

  11. Love the new haircut! I treated myself to a dinner at Tilia last night :) Yum. Biggest news in my life; moving to a much nicer building. Wooho! (meaning no more exploding pipes, mice in the lobby or landlords who refuse to fix anything)

  15. Wait a second, when did this move to florida happen???? I know I took last week off from blogging, but I feel like I’ve missed so much!!! Love the haircut on you btw!! And our hair has three stages: Anagen, Catagen, and Telogen. Anagen is the growth cycle, usually lasting 3-5 years. Catagen is the transitional phase that lasts about 10 days. And then it goes to Telogen, which is when the hair/follicles are released, and it usually lasts about 3 months. Maybe the stress of everything is causing it to fall out longer?

    • Haha – I announced it last week :) We’ll be heading down there at the end of the month! And yeah, I know more about the hair growth cycles and iron and freakin’ everything about the scalp than I’d ever care to know ;) He keeps chalking it up to stress but for 14 months straight?! I think he could probably do a little more digging or at least offer a recommendation of what I should be doing to help it out.

  16. Love the new ‘do and the sunglasses!! You look fantastic! I seriously need a new haircut also, but I am not as brave as you…. 6 inches is a lot!

  17. Your hair looks fantastic! I love the cut! 6 inches is a lot…you are brave. I might have to chop mine off after the wedding! :)

    • It was sooooo long and stringy so it didn’t require too much bravery ;) My hair has never been great at growing out long and healthy looking!

  18. Way to ROCK that vert weekend!!! BP instructor is your new job title, eh??! ;)

    Cute glasses!

  20. I can’t believe how long your hair must’ve been bc it still looks super long after the cut!! Glad you’re accruing a nice sandal collection…I must say mine is pretty large as well after living in Santa Barbara for 4 years ;) Living in a beautiful beach climate is nawwwt the worst!

    • Uh, yeah. It was insanely long. The last time I had it cut was DECEMBER. Now that’s crazy talk, never again ;) I am super excited to get rid of my winter boots and now y’all won’t freeze when you come visit me :)

  26. Florida?!! That’s crazy but awesome too! You will find tons of summer items on sale if you move within the month since they still treat it like winter is coming down in the south. I remember moving to AZ in August and right around then EVERYTHING for summer went on sale. You can never have too many flip flops…. or maybe now that I’m about to experience Minnesota winter I’ll regret saying that.

Love the glasses- I need some myself but have been putting it off forever! Sunglasses are so important, my eye doctor scared me by saying if everyone wore sunglasses we’d no longer have glaucoma. Never ever again will I go without sunglasses. Plus they’re cute :) You’ll use them a lot in Florida!

    • Thanks Carley! I’ll keep my opinion of Minnesota to myself for now, especially on the winters, haha ;) I seriously wear sunglasses 24/7 so hopefully that means I have healthy eyes!

  27. I may have a derm recommendation for you in Florida… =)
