Daily Ramble #15

Hurricane supplies. Apparently they’re a necessity when you live in Florida.

On Friday I picked up a few items we would need in case Erika decided to come toward Naples.

A few cases of water.

Gallon jugs of water.

Snacks – Protein bars, pre-popped popcorn, cashews, and canned tuna.

I also asked Kyle to pick up some supplies on his way home.

I’ve realized that a household’s hurricane stash says a lot about their lifestyle.

Apparently we are canned pineapple, blue tortilla chip, popcorn, peanut butter sandwich, cashew, and wine lovin’ people who also drink A TON of water.

At least we’re prepared ;)

But if you ever find yourself thirsty in Naples, you know where you can find a bottle (or 507…) of water.

#sundayzenday

We are to the final day of the #7daystretch with prAna and Fit Approach!

This week flew by for me – Anyone else agree?

Today called for sharing our favorite ways to restore your mind, body, and soul. For me, that involves being active! I always feel mentally and physically recharged (after a long shower of course, haha) after a sweaty gym session whether it be BODYPUMP, yoga, SPINNING, or running. I love ’em all!

IMG_4822

Our bonus photo was to share our zen space. I think my new zen space will be my office – once it is finished, but I decided to share my gym’s BODYPUMP/yoga room. I always feel calm walking through the doors and love what the space has done for me.

#sunsalutesaturday

Today’s prAna and Fit Approach #7daystretch challenge could not be more appropriate – It’s a beautiful and sunny day here in Florida! (We shall see how long that continues with the storm heading our way…)

I took full advantage of the sun and hit up the sidewalk today for a hot run full of Vitamin D :)

We are sharing our favorite side stretch for Saturday Side Stretch – Mine is what you see below. I love how it stretches your body’s entire side, from your arm stretched overhead to your obliques to your IT band to your outer leg. It’s by far my favorite, especially after a long run!

IMG_4756

And my bonus, #sunsalutesaturday was my above mentioned run. It was hot and muggy and TWO whole minutes faster than the last time I ran the loop. Woohoo!

#freefriday #ForearmFriday

Hiya! How’s your weekend going so far? It’s been a fun one for us and I’ll share more details later because right now we’re chatting Friday’s #7daystretch!

Friday called for sharing what makes us feel most free. I love being outside and enjoying the beauty of nature. It is such a free feeling so I snapped a photo of one of Naples’ gorgeous beaches to share.

IMG_4680

The bonus photo was to celebrate forearm Friday! I was due for a good plank after my morning leg workout, so while Dean was doing his tummy time, I did mine as well ;) Good for your upper body and core – Forearm planks are a great full body exercise!

Friday Favs

You guys.

Hurricane (I guess she’s still a tropical storm…) Erika has me freaking out. I’m sure all you native Floridians are laughing at me right now, but OMG A HURRICANE. I hope it dissipates or heads back out into the Atlantic and stays far, far away from the west side of Florida. I guess that is one of the risks you take when you move to Florida.

Let’s forget about the storm for the moment and chat some of my favorites, shall we?

1. Rainy day cuddles. It’s been a bit rainier than normal the past few mornings and Dean loves snuggling during his morning nap. It’s also why I’ve gotten nothing done the past few days.

IMG_4663

2. This book. I have just started reading it (I need to work on making time to read rather than scrolling through Facebook/Instagram!) and am enjoying it so far. Lots of good information to soak up.

IMG_4677

3. My wonderful doctor friend. She’s incredibly patient and knows her stuff. I’m thankful she checks in to see how things are going after I send her a bajillion and two questions ;) Now I just need to convince her to visit me this winter…

4. Baby Einstein. The videos are seriously magic. I played one the other day and it was half Spanish/half English – Maybe Dean’s first word will be in Spanish, LOL.

IMG_4635

5. Getting our home office/den completed! And by completed, I mean starting to work on it ;) Right now I have the rug in the image below as well as a table. This weekend we are heading out to find a couple of chairs and a bench and I have my sites on a few office pieces for the walls.

IMG_4643

That about wraps it up for this week! We don’t have any major plans for this weekend – Dinner out tonight or tomorrow (or both, haha!), office decor shopping, BODYPUMP, cleaning our sidewalk (surprise, Kyle!), and relaxing since we head to Chicago on Friday.

I’m linking up with Katie and Heather this week to join in on the Friday fun!

What are you up to this weekend? What is a home office must-have for you?

#TBT

Wow, we are already to Thursday of the #7daystretch with prAna and Fit Approach! This week is flying.

Today’s Instagram challenge called for throwing it back (TBT = Throwback Thursday) to a time when you stretched outside of your comfort zone.

Hiking at a bajillion feet in Colorado last summer. ‘Nuff said. I was training for the Chicago Marathon at this point and I was still out of breath – Phew! The elevation there is no joke.

IMG_4668

The bonus photo was to show your favorite pair of stretchy pants. I believe I just received a new favorite today. These are prAna’s Ergo Leggings and my oh my are they ever comfortable! They feel like super soft sweatpants but are lightweight and perfect for my Florida climate. I think you’ll be seeing a lot of these in the future ;)

“Challenge” Results

I always love reading about other women’s health journeys so I thought I’d share part of my postpartum story today.

Before I jump in, you’re probably wondering why the word challenge is in quotations in the title. Here’s the thing, I’m still breastfeeding so my body’s numero uno job right now is to feed Baby Dean. Like a lot of women who have recently had babies, of course I want to go all out, balls to wall, get the baby weight and lumps gone, BUT I wanted to be realistic with myself. If you are feeding another human, you should not “challenge” your body, it is already being put through the ringer. You gotta love yourself where you are at and make small improvements. The small daily changes are what create long lasting improvements anyways.

With that being said, for the past 24 days I continued with my favorite AdvoCare products (I’ll share my exact schedule below.), kept up with my normal fitness routine, and cleaned up my diet to make sure I was consuming whole, good for mama and baby foods.

I’ll start by sharing my results since that is the most exciting part and then I’ll jump into my supplementation schedule below!

IMG_4661

IMG_4662

Results <– I think the photos speak for themselves, yes?

Number Results:

  • I’m down 8 pounds.
  • I lost 6.5 inches, 3 of which came off of my stomach.

And because we all know, numbers only tell a small fraction of the story, here are my other “results” that I am loving these days:

  • My skinny jeans fit again!!! Actually all of my clothes, even my Skinny Minnie dresses fit (and look good on me <– self brag, it’s good to be confident in yourself and it is something I’m working on) again. Wahoo!
  • I feel great – My mood is wonderful, I’m happy, I am more outgoing when I’m in public… I just have an overall, “I feel fab” mindset these days.
  • Dean is sleeping through the night – I’m not sure whether this is age-related (It started a few days before he hit the 3 month mark) or related to eliminating sugar and crap from my diet, I guess we will see the next time I indulge in a big ol’ cookie ;) Either way, 9-10 hours/night has been much welcomed.
  • I have a crazy energy boost – I’m sure everyone can agree, extra energy is always welcome :)
  • My workouts have stepped up a notch – I no longer feel like I’m out of breath while teaching (or taking) BODYPUMP and I no longer need a nap after spending an hour in the gym. Yay!

While I obviously want to continue to see results – mainly in my fitness performance and core strength, I am happy with where I am at 3 months postpartum. There are (unfortunately, haha) no quick fixes, but hard work will take you far!

Now, let’s chat my supplement schedule. Here is what I took:

  • Upon waking: Probiotic Restore, 2 Catalyst, and Spark + Rehydrate
  • 30-60 minutes later: Peaches ‘n Cream Fiber Drink followed with 24 ounces of water (I took the fiber each day during days 1-10 and then every 3-4 days during days 11-24)
  • 15-20 minutes later: 2 OmegaPlex with breakfast
  • With lunch or dinner: CorePlex (serves as a prenatal) and 2 OmegaPlex
  • I also had MRS on hand for when my sweet tooth struck. I’m obsessed with making mug cakes with them now!

My workout supplementation:

Going forward, I plan on sticking to everything I listed out above and an 80/20 schedule. Eat well most of the time (it is good for Baby Dean and it makes me feel great), and throw in some treats along the way. Life isn’t worth living without chocolate and wine and pizza and the good stuff, am I right? Balance is the key to happiness and I know I will continue to get closer to my goals each and every day.

My team is kicking off a group, “back to school” challenge beginning right after Labor Day – September 8th! If you want in shoot me an email (becky@olivesnwine.com). It’ll be tons of fun – Lotsa new friends, tons of support and motivation, healthy recipes, tasty Spark, and more!

As always, thanks to everyone who has supported Kyle and I since Baby Dean made his appearance! It’s been a journey and I appreciate all of our friends and family who have helped along the way. He is a lucky little guy to have so much love in his life :)

Workout Wednesday

How are y’all doing with the #7daystretch so far?

It’s Wednesday and today we are sharing the thing(s) that are getting us through hump day!

IMG_4647

For me, it is Baby Einstein (Dean’s first time watching), Spark (alwayssssss Spark), the Fall 2015 Tory Burch collection (so pretty!), and waiting on some new office furniture (the delivery men just left). And so far, I’ve made it through today unscathed ;)

And the bonus photo for today calls for sharing your workout for #workoutwednesday.

IMG_4639

I completed an Arms & Abs Kayla Itsines workout and it kicked my core!

Get bendy.

Let’s get BENDY!

Day 2 of the #7daystretch calls for backbends – any and all of ’em. Did you get one in yet? If not, don’t worry, you still have plenty of time! Just make sure to tag myself (@beckyklap and/or @fitgirlbeckyklap), @prana, and @fitapproach as well as use the hashtags #7daystretch, #liveinprAna, and #sweatpink :)

I attempted my hand at the iPhone camera timer this morning and I think it was pretty successful in capturing my backbend. I definitely still have some work to do but it’s all about progress, not perfection!

IMG_4589

Also, check out my bonus #transformationtuesday photo. 7 months pregnant vs. 3 months postpartum. I think my bends are a bit better now ;)

#jumpjoymonday

Day 1 of the #7daystretch started yesterday with #jumpjoymonday!

IMG_4566

Monday, August 24: It’s Monday, make sure you get up and stretch ‘dem legs! Show us your favorite quad and / or hamstring stretch(es)! #7daystretch #liveinprana #sweatpink @FitApproach @prAna

Bonus: We want to see you JUMP it out. Give us your BEST #jumpjoymonday! #7daystretch #liveinprana #sweatpink @FitApproach @prAna

I hit up my gym for a little treadmill action and was thankful that the day called for a quad stretch. This is my favorite leg stretch – It always feels great after a long run, lotsa lunges, or some heavy squats.

IMG_4529

Yesterday’s bonus image involved some JUMPING action. Apparently taking a selfie while jumping is next to impossible, LOL. At least I tried ;)
