#111 Treat Yourself Tuesday

Tuesday, Tuesday… You want to know why I started TYT? Well, it’s because Tuesday has always been my most dreaded day of the week. We expect Monday to be lousy. Wednesday means we are halfway to the weekend. Thursday is Friday Eve. And well, Friday calls for some TGIF. But Tuesday? Tuesday is just kinda hanging around taunting us with its Tuesday-ness.

But now we can reminisce about all our treats from the past week and remember to take a few moments to treat ourselves on our least favorite day of the week.

Make sure you do something nice for yourself today! Deal? :) And if you’re new to TYT, head on over here to read about it!

Now, onto my treats!

EVERYONE better be listing my first treat… Halloween candyyyyy! I have a love affair with Snickers and I only ever have them on Halloween, Christmas, and Easter. OMG are they good. I think I had 5 before our Trick or Treaters started swinging by ;) Thankfully, Kyle took our remaining candy to work yesterday so it wasn’t sitting there calling my name. #sugarhigh

Next up… sticking with the consumables train… vino. Oyster Bay may be my new fave Sauvignon Blanc. It’s very affordable and it goes down quite easily. I always pick up a bottle (or three…) when we do our monthly wine stock up.

Dressing up Dean. Parent perks ;) Superman and Sock Monkey = Too much fun!

Christmas music!! It is still hot here in Florida but I want to get into the Christmas spirit for Dean’s first holiday so, Christmas tunes it is. Thank goodness for Spotify – They have some great holiday stations!

I won a giveaway from Valerie last week and with my giftcard, chose a new bracelet from Green Grass Boutique! Sharon has some super cute pieces and her shipping was really fast. I thought this bracelet was more than appropriate since we live near the beach in Naples.

I have also decided to stop worrying about our family photo outfits as a treat to myself, haha. I sent this photo to our photographer yesterday and she told me my color selection was perfect. I’m not sold on my top yet (I think I need one slightly more fitted since my pants are more of a boyfriend-style crop) so I may change things up for myself AND I ordered a pair of super cute pants for Dean today but I at least have a majority of the outfit selection done. Next year I’m hiring a personal stylist for our family pics ;)

Are you listening to Christmas music yet? What color(s) do you tend to wear frequently?

  1. Oyster Bay is my mom’s current go-to wine – I’m going to have to check it out! And between Snickers and Christmas music, you’ve covered two of my favorite things :)

    • Your mom and I should hang out and talk wine, haha. I like the way she drinks! Throw in Snickers and it sounds perfect :)

  2. Thanks for the shoutout! And I love that bracelet- you’re right, perfect for FL! And your color scheme for your photos looks great…that is SO tough to get it right!

    • Fingers crossed the photos come together well and Dean cooperates ;) It’s hard to do sunset photos during the witching hour, haha.

  3. What? Christmas music already? My treat is shutting my office door when people play Frosty the Snowman before we even have snow ;-) Annnnd all of the Halloween candy I’ve eaten over the last week lol

    • Bahahah – I know… I am one of those people ;) Typically I like to hold off until Thanksgiving BUT it’s still hot here so I need to get in the holiday spirit somehow!

  4. My mom loves Christmas music, but I think it’s depressing. In general, it is a fun time of year but also sad. I’ll be your stylist for future family pics :). And, I treated myself to Carrie Underwood tickets yesterday!!!! Something to look forward to through winter.

  5. I’ve always disliked Tuesday more than Monday, haha
Dean as a sock monkey is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen!
This is my first Autumn in Miami and I’m certainly missing the cool temps from back home in St Louis.
I bought myself some new sneaks for my birthday and they arrived yesterday, woohoo!
Can’t wait to see your family photos!

    • I miss the fall weather too. Thankfully, once fall hits, it is that temp for 5 months straight. Perfection! And STL – I went to SLU my first year of undergraduate :) I still have friends in your city.

  6. We need to take our Christmas picture (probably going to be done with a tripod in the front yard) but I’m stressing over outfits. Dressing 4 people to look nice without being too matchy -matchy is a job!

I agree, when I worked full time we had a LOT of events on Tuesdays. It was always such a LOOOONG day and you still had so many other days of the week left at work lol.

We can make it through Tuesday! :)

    • And Tuesday is almost over – wahoo! I think department stores would score big if they had a family photo section – Gave options of different pieces for the entire family that would look great together :)

  7. I just took a lot of my sweaters and other winters clothes out of storage and realized they’re all mostly beige, grey or black. I like to buy things in basic so I can accessorize with color!

  8. I think your outfit selection is perfect. I decided last minute that I would put half of my closet in a bag only to go shopping an hour before photos and buy the three of us new tops. Talk about indecisiveness!

    • Oh my gosh, hahaha – I love it. Why is it so difficult to decide on outfits?! Geesh. First world problems (I know) but still!

  9. Heck yes to Halloween candy this weekend. And double yes to getting rid of the leftovers on Monday. :) Thank goodness for BODYPUMP and spark #amiright :)

  10. Noooo Christmas music yet haha Though I totally understand being excited about. This time last year I pulled out all of my Christmas stuff but I think I’m going to try to hold off until Thanksgiving this year. The weeks are flying by either way though!

    • Oh man, I don’t want to think about decorating yet. That sounds super intimidating with a baby, haha. But yes, Thanksgiving will be here before we know it – crazy!

  11. Oh yay, another brand of Sauv Blanc to try—woot! I’m in-ha:)
That is awesome will power to stay clear of snickers outside of 3 holidays–wow….
    Love that bracelet too!

  12. That is the perfect way to explain Tuesday! I may have listened to Christmas music this past weekend before anyone else was up 🙂. Have fun with family pictures!

  13. No Halloween candy for me! I’ve learned my lesson and sugar just kills me so I have yet to have any! But YES to oyster bay sauv blanc. Love it.

Not ready for Christmas at all, I probably won’t turn on the Christmas tunes until late November.

  14. I love the idea of TYT, I’m going to have to start linking up! Today my nanny comes and wrangles the kids in the afternoon while I work as much as possible. I’m currently working and munching on a piece of dark chocolate (okay three pieces).
Kelli recently posted…Why I Do What I DoMy Profile

    • Oooh having a nanny come while you work sounds amazing! That and the dark chocolate :) I hope you had a great Tuesday!

  15. Becky — Fun Fact about Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc — it’s from New Zealand, and when I worked at the Les Mills West Coast office after first moving to San Francisco, that was the wine that we kept stocked at all times! :)
Ashley @ A Lady Goes West recently posted…Les Mills BODYPUMP release 95 group fitnesss reviewMy Profile

    • Okay, I love that your office kept wine stocked! That’s my kinda work space ;) And yes to NZ Sauvignon Blanc – I actually only buy that type of wine if it’s from the Marlborough Region of NZ… I promise I’m not a wine snob, it’s just the best when it is grown there :)

  16. Oh no …no Christmas music for me until December 1st! I know that seems like a long ways away and as much as I adore Christmas time, winter and snow come far too early for us here ..so I like to enjoy my seasons one by one!

Treats this week FOR SURE include halloween candy, seeing my best friend try on her wedding dress, having a lazy Sunday (post Halloween candy hangover) and getting to BodyPump and Spin class !

I love Oyster Bay too!!! I had it for the first time in Boston with my girlfriends and need to get another bottle…(oh man must get to the store…)…I’m having a girls night on Friday so it might have to be my co-pilot ;)

    • I have a girls night tomorrow night – wine and games – so I need to get out tomorrow to get some vino! It must have been so much fun to see your BFF try on her dress. Weddings are so much fun :)

  17. I just love Treat Yourself Tuesday! We didn’t have any halloween candy {can you believe our entire family was sick on Halloween? We were such party poopers} but I have been treating myself to lots of rest and Netflix!! Ha!

  18. Tuesdays after Weight Watchers we enjoy a pepperoni pizza from Little Caesar’s. I eat my 3 slices and an apple or two.

  19. The fact that you do a “monthly wine stock up” is amazing. Why don’t I do this? I am doing this now. :)

Totally love Christmas music but haven’t started listening just yet. I’m trying to hold off because it drives my hubby crazy.

  20. Okay, so first of all, I LOVE your website name. Olives and wine are two of my favorite things. My family still teases me for my love of olives from an extremely young age. Second, this is a great idea! My treats have been visiting family to celebrate Halloween and these sneaky Chili Nachos I devoured last night :)

  21. Great idea for Treat Yourself Tuesday:)
We had far less trick or treaters this year (I blame the stupid trunk or treats) which left me with far too much candy which I have been eating and treating myself to more than just one a day. I really should throw it out, but I probably won’t, LOL
Your son is adorable, such a cute costume, gotta love when they are babies and you can dress them the way you want:)
Runaway Bridal Planner recently posted…Travel and Adventure AwaitsMy Profile

    • There are SO many trunk or treats now – I like the old fashioned way of trick or treating :) The firehouses here in Naples take donations of candy and for each pound donated, they give $10 to a local charity. I LOVE that idea and I am joining in next year. I can’t control myself around the excess sugar, haha.

  22. Choosing family picture outfits is my LEAST favorite thing to do ever ever!! We just had ours & lets just say having a toddler participate is SO tough! haha. Luckily we got a few cute ones. Can’t wait to see yours!

I like almond snickers, but swiss chocolate & ice cream will always have my heart <3

    • Oh man, I cannot imagine photos with a toddler. I will need to practice my deep breathing for next year’s photos ;)

  23. eee can’t wait for family photos! That bracelet you won is super cute, too!

    and yay Halloween!

  24. I love the idea of treat yourself Tuesday! I just finished reading a book called Simply Tuesday, where she talks about how Tuesday is just kind of bland. But it’s on Tuesdays that we can celebrate our smallness and notice the little things.
Wendy @ Wholistic Woman recently posted…Seeing Beyond TuesdayMy Profile

  25. I love this idea! I don’t want my Tuesdays to haunt me with their Tuesdayness anymore! Soo…. I am totally stealing it, even if I don’t blog about it – haha! And while I love wine and candy, I ALSO love that your treats aren’t all food. That’s the first thing I think of, but it’s definitely not the only way we can treat ourselves! ;)
