Friday Favs

Happy Friday, party people!! Can you tell party people is my new greeting thang? It’s Friday, we can be party animals today ;)

IMG_1296

Last night was actually my FriYAY since I took today off of work to celebrate my girlfriend, Tarin! It’s her bridal shower and bachelorette party weekend – woohooo!! I’ll be heading to The Keys later today for the evening and then coming back to Naples tomorrow afternoon to celebrate our 6th (!!!) wedding anniversary with Kyle on Saturday night. It’s bound to be a fun (and exhausting, LOL) weekend.

Thankfully my Spark order arrived yesterday so I have enough energy to push my 31-year-old body through the next 48 hours. I’m also thankful that I am used to no sleep (although Dean gave me a SEVEN hour stretch last night!) so I should be able to keep up with the gals ;)

Anyways, let’s chat this week’s favorites!

1. I am FINALLY feeling better. About dang time! While I never want to take Augmentin again, the shiz works. Two long weeks of an upper respiratory infection is finally coming to an end. WOOHOO.

2. Good neighbors – We had a case of a missing Amazon package earlier this week. It was only Cheddar Bunnies for Dean’s party and a new blender bottle for me (#priorities #momlife LOL) BUT I hateeeee when packages go missing. Our USPS leaves a lot to be desired here in Naples so I was fairly certain they delivered the package to the wrong house… AGAIN. Last night a friend in my neighborhood (whose house isn’t even on the same street as ours…) texted me to let me know she accidentally opened our package. SERIOUSLY USPS. But yay for bunnies and a new Spark bottle this morning!

3. Chipotle. Need I say more? Love. Of. My. Life. Next to Kyle, of course! I ordered to eat my salad in the restaurant and LOL’d (literally, out loud) when the cashier handed me a to-go bag “just in case”… I wanted to tell him that you have no clue how much Chipotle I can put down! Hits the spot. Every time.

IMG_1288 (1)

4. My new, white manicure!! I was nervous after a few of your comments when I mentioned getting white nails but I really like it. I don’t think it’s a color I will frequently get but it’s fun and fresh every once in a while. Although it kind of reminds me of painting my nails with White-Out in 7th grade…

IMG_1255

IMG_1260

5. Dill pickle cashews. GENIUS. I’m totally making these from scratch for our next par-tay. Cashews + a little big of olive oil + dill + a little bit o’ pickle juice. Easy peasy and healthy and delicious!

IMG_1248

And with that, I’m off!! Make sure y’all follow me on Instagram to stay current on my weekend shenanigans. Can’t wait!

Linking up with Katie and Heather for Friday Favorites.

Whatcha up to this weekend? Any favorites from the past week?

Workout Wednesday

It’s Workout Wednesday, party people!!!… er, workout people? Fitness people? Party people sounds a heck of a lot better if you ask me ;)

Can I tell you about my morning for a minute? Yes? (Not that you have a choice in the matter…)

Okay, so I meant to get this post up bright and early today but a few things happened. First, I subbed a few classes and taught back-to-back Spinning then BODYPUMP then Spinning again. HELLO legs. Holy majoly that was difficult. But that isn’t really part of my story…

As I was teaching my first Spinning class of the day – and nearing the end of class, thank goodness! – I see my gym’s CEO stroll into the fitness room across the hall. You guys. Our CEO DOES NOT casually stroll into our group ex room unless there is an emergency. I’m certain my face looked something like the gritted teeth emoji as I hurriedly finished class and then sprinted across the hall to figure out what the heck could be the issue with group ex that needed our CEO’s attention.

Turns out the sound system in one of our busiest rooms decided to stop working. And my IT guy is out for the remainder of the week. FUN. I managed to scrounge up a couple of makeshift speakers for the instructor and then sprinted my booty to BODYPUMP. I was flustered but taught a pretty darn good class (except for the lunge track – sorry guys!) if I do say so myself… even if my legs wanted to fall off. Then it was back to Spinning.

THEN I ATE ALL THE FOOD. Well, a PB sammie, Post Workout Recovery in chocolate (because it tastes like chocolate milk – yummooooo) and a Quest Bar. So, not all the food but I forgot my wallet at home and that’s what I had in my bag. I survived.

Oh, and have I mentioned that I’m currently on antibiotics for my never ending cold turned upper respiratory infection that are wrecking havoc on my stomach? Food is not agreeing with me right now (not convenient when you teach 3 classes in a day…) and each time I eat, I bloat up like I’m 6 months pregnant. SUPER fun. And painful. But my head and chest are feeling MUCH better and that is what counts, right? All I know is that Augmentin should be recategorized as a diet pill… Since it’s preventing me from eating without pain, I’ll probably be super skinny by the time I’m done with my treatment, LOL.

Anyways, I digress. Moral of the story? There is no moral, ha. I should just anticipate everything breaking when I am unable to help (AKA in the middle of class) and our IT department is out of the office. Murphy’s Law, right?

Back to the topic at hand, WORKOUT WEDNESDAY! (Party people ;) Ha!) I’ve been contemplating writing a little series on Wednesdays – probably not EVERY Wednesday considering my current posting habits, but possibly every other Wednesday – about fitness and workouts and all that jazz. Whatcha think? Yay? Nay? I think I’ll start by focusing on a specific exercise each week that I tend to see performed incorrectly with my clients and/or in the gym. I’ll explain proper form and (hopefully) provide photos to help y’all do the exercise safely and effectively! AND I’ll give y’all a little workout to finish out the post.

Let me know your thoughts and if there are any exercises you’d like me to focus on first!

Weekending

I’m having a total case of the Mondays today! Thankfully, I fit my workout in this morning (kicking and screaming…) and am feeling much better about the rest of the day ;)

Let’s chat the weekend though!

We had a chill night on Friday night – I hung Dean’s birthday sign (a few weeks early, LOL) and Kyle grilled turkey burgers. Dean enjoyed his dinner as well!

I’m glad Friday was a relaxing night because on Saturday, Dean decided he wanted to play starting at 5:45am! That called for lotsa Spark for mama, an early morning Target run, cleaning the entire house, the farmer’s market, lunch out on 5th Avenue, some fun in the pool, and trying on new shoes!

I also made some tasty (and healthy!) treats and we watched a gorgeous sunset on the beach. Best sunset we’ve seen here so far!

Sunday was another early morning – check out that bedhead.

I went on a nice run and then we enjoyed a walk on the beach, some time at the park (Dean’s first time swinging), and grilling.

Whew! We did A LOT the past 2 days. I’m looking forward to Friday – I took the day off of work and am heading to a friend’s bachelorette party in Florida. I CANNOT wait!!

How was your weekend? Was it productive? Fun? Did you do anything exciting?

Friday Favs

Is it Friday? Are we sure? I’ve had all of my days this week confused – I thought Monday was Tuesday and Wednesday was Tuesday… Phew. Thankfully, today IS Friday!

IMG_0994

We don’t have any major plans for the weekend and it will be nice to relax after being on the go last weekend. Kyle and I are both still feeling “blah” with colds and you know how it goes when the hubs is sick… ;) #endoftheworld HEHEHEHE.

Anyways, let’s chat some favs from the past week!

My pink nails – I haven’t gotten a gel manicure in FOREVER. And by forever I mean at least 2 years. I love how long they last… I may need to get another one this coming week for a bachelorette party I have next weekend. I’m thinking white nails this time… Yay? Nay?

IMG_0966

Target. Okay, this is alwayssss a favorite! But I have recently realized that I typically now only shop for Dean rather than spend my fun Target money on myself. Go figure. This week I found a couple of new beach hats (adorable!) and a birthday shirt. Totally unnecessary but totally cute.

IMG_1122 (1)

I’m FINALLY starting to feel better. UGH. I’ve had this cold/cough/congestion crap for over a week now and I finally feel like I’m on the mend. Kid germs are no joke!! I’m hoping Kyle’s version doesn’t last as long as mine did and that we will all be healthy for the next few weeks.

Chatting with my internet friends. Messaging and texting and emailing my blogging/internet friends always makes my day! I love chatting with fitness lovers and mamas – It is important to have a good group of friends even if you’ve never met in real life ;)

A HUGE goodie box from prAna last night! I participated in their #pranaspringstyle event with Fit Approach and as a thank you, they sent me everything from spring jackets to a swim suit to a new duffel bag to pants to shorts! I love it all – Thank you, prAna!

Linking up with Katie and Heather for Friday Favorites!

What are a few of your favorites from the past week? Are you doing anything fun this weekend?

Dean Axel – Eleven Month Update

We officially have less than one month until Dean reaches toddler status! Woohoo – He is ready for his par-tayyyy! But really, where have the past 11 months gone?!

Here’s what Dean’s been up to the past month.

You can find his previous updates here:

Physical Stats:

  • Weight: 19 pounds 6 ounces (at his last check-up)
  • Length: Somewhere around 30 inches
  • Head Circumference: No clue… #momoftheyear

Likes:

  • Chattering! I don’t think he’s said any “real” words yet but he is definitely talking.
  • Opening cupboards and drawers. This is a new one and I just ordered safety closures!
  • Crawling like he’s in a race.
  • Water – Bathtime, the pool, the beach… He LOVES water!
  • Turning book pages. Future bookworm!
  • Peek-a-boo.
  • Tickle fights.
  • When Dad comes home! Best time of the day.
  • Yogurt, Cheerios, Cheddar Bunnies/Goldfish crackers, broccoli
  • Smiling/flirting with everyone in public.
  • Toy balls – He loves tossing them, bouncing them, chasing after them!
  • TV Remotes
  • Stroller rides.

Dislikes:

  • Diaper changes – Giving him a toy to distract him helps A LOT.
  • Not having the full attention of Mom/Dad when he wants it.
  • Having his nails trimmed.

Places I’ve been:

  • Sanibel Island
  • Captiva Island
  • Naples Zoo

Visitors:

  • Alllll of Dad’s side of the family for the wedding in Captiva.
  • Aunt Laura

Nicknames:

  • Deany Beany
  • Deany Bopper

At eleven months, Dean officially has THREE teeth. He’s been slow to get those babies in so each one is a celebration ;) He now has his two bottom front teeth and his top right front tooth. The last one seemed to hurt more than the previous ones so I can’t wait for the molars to make their appearance in a few months. #sarcasm

Dean is still Mr. Social. He is super laid back around new people and lovesssss smiling, talking to, and making friends with family and friends and everyone at Publix. He typically doesn’t get upset being passed from person to person as long as mom and dad are somewhere nearby and he did really well this past weekend meeting new family for the first time. He also loves the other babies in his daycare room. He’ll play (or take toys from them… we’re working on it!) with them and crawl right up to them and “talk” – It is really cute!

He is slowly but surely getting better at eating real food. Some days he loves it, some days he hates it. He tends to eat better at home than at daycare and he loves yogurt, Cheerios,  cheesy crackers, broccoli, rice, bananas, spinach… Pretty much any carb!

Dean has just started to stand without help from us/furniture. He is still wobbly but can stand up for a few seconds at a time. I’m a-okay with him taking his sweet time to walk, his crawling is fast enough for me right now!

He still doesn’t really love his crib so I’m toying with the idea of converting it to a toddler bed once he turns one. I figure it can’t hurt! We have the model of crib that “easily” changes to a bed so it may be something we try here shortly.

Fingers crossed he keeps his laid back personality into the teen years ;) A mom can hope!

At my next update, I’ll have a TODDLER! Here’s to the last few weeks of being a little baby.

Weekending – Islandin’, Wedding, and Cruisin’

Hey there, it’s been a while!

I had a fun and busy weekend AND started getting sick (allergies or some sort of horrible cold) on Wednesday so I took an internet break to allow myself as much rest as possible last week. I’m still super congested but hopefully I’ll be back to 100% soon.

Anyways, enough about germs and sickness – Let’s chat the weekend! Kyle’s cousin was married in Captiva (an island just north of Naples, Florida) over the weekend so we enjoyed family time and island life the past few days. It was a lot of fun!

Kyle’s parents and my sister flew in on Thursday. The wedding was “kid-free” so my sister stayed with us and watched Dean while we had fun at the party ;) We ordered in Thai food and sushi on Thursday evening and Kyle graciously (was forced, LOL) picked up my sister at the airport at 11pm.

(Dean wasn’t into photos with his aunt LOL)

On Friday morning I taught a quick spinning class and then Laura (my sister) and I drove up to Captiva. It was a cloudy day but we relaxed on the beach with Kyle’s family.

Since the wedding was a destination event for almost everyone – besides us, haha – all guests were invited to the rehearsal dinner AKA sunset boat cruise. It was nice to relax and catch up with family on Friday night.

And I got to wear my new Lilly!

Saturday started out rainy but turned into a gorgeous day. We spent a few hours on the beach and then hit up The Mucky Duck for a late lunch before the wedding festivities began.

The wedding began at 5pm and was held on the beach. It was GORGEOUS and they couldn’t have asked for better weather.

After the ceremony all of the guests loaded up into a shuttle bus and made our way to the cocktail hour and reception. The views were incredible and it was a lovely evening full of delicious food, wine, and dancing.

On Sunday we relaxed until we decided to make our way home. We stopped at The Island Cow for lunch on the way home – I have wanted to check out this restaurant in Sanibel since before moving to Naples but the wait is always crazy long. We lucked out on Sunday and only had to wait 20 minutes before being seated. Lunch was most definitely not healthy but still pretty tasty ;)

And now it’s Monday! We should have stayed an extra night or two to recharge after the weekend… Next time!

How was your weekend? Any weddings? Good eats?

Treat Yourself Tuesday – I’m back!

Oh heyyyyy, how about resurrecting Treat Yourself Tuesday today?

Don’t you worry, I haven’t stopped treating myself since my last post, I just fell off the consistent posting bandwagon and didn’t want to leave y’all hanging with an anticipated weekly post :)

BUT I did a heck of a lot of treating this past week so TYT is back today!

First things first, I took a little blogging break for a few days. It was 100% unintentional… I have become an extraordinary procrastinator and needed every second of my free time to memorize BODYPUMP 97. LOL – whoops! Thankfully, it’s now ingrained in my head and I have time to blog again. I will say that taking a break from the internet is always a good treat and much needed every once in a while.

My second treat was a girls’ night out! I met a friend for dinner and drinks at Real Seafood Company (that I totally didn’t know was a chain per y’all’s comments on social media). It was DELICIOUS and I will be going back ASAP.

On Saturday I did a lot of shopping treatin’ ;) Kyle gave me a gift card to C.Orrico for Christmas and I had yet to spend it. I suggested we visit 3rd Street South (the old downtown area of Naples) for lunch so I could FINALLY use my gift card. I have been patiently waiting on my first piece of Lilly Pulitzer attire since moving to Florida and I can now proudly say that I have two Lilly dresses. I purchased one at C. Orrico – The Seaview Maxi Dress – and one online at Nordstrom’s – the Grayes Printed Shift Dress in Multi So A Peeling. I tried on the second dress at the store but unfortunately, they didn’t have my size so I quickly found it online and ordered it in the print I wanted. Kyle and I have a wedding and sunset boat cruise this coming weekend and I can’t wait to wear my new dresses. (Photos of the actual dresses to come!)

img_0883

And because I bought new dresses, I obviously NEEDED new shoes ;) Haha! I ordered a pair from Zappo’s (mainly because they sent me a $30 coupon unexpectedly) – They are white wedges and are going to look fab with both dresses, I can’t wait!

I mentioned I was a procrastinator previously in this post, right? Well, it was due time to decorate our office/den space… It’s only been a year since we purchased the house!! Dean and I picked out a few pieces from Hobby Lobby morning and now the room looks SO much better. I was able to find everything for under $200 which is incredible. Now to find something for above the glass sliding doors in our living area…….. one big decision at a time, LOL ;)

img_0862

Oh! And one more treat… I finally purchased a Qalo ring. I don’t wear my wedding rings to the gym because I’m fearful of chipping/harming them so now I have this pink gem to share my marital status!

Other than that, it has been the same ol’ treats around these parts… Lotsa Spark, lotsa fun workouts, pool time, beach time, and fun in the sun! Later this week I am getting my nails done and my sister is coming into town on Thursday for a visit! She is going to watch Dean while we attend a wedding so it will be nice to spend some time with her as well.

How have you treated yourself recently? Any fun treats coming up?I still have a spa gift card AND a Lulu gift card burning a hole in my pocket so those treats will be coming sooner rather than later :)

Weekending – Lilly, Running, and Fun in the sun!

Hey, happy Monday! How was your weekend? We were blessed with gorgeous spring weather in Naples this weekend and took full advantage.

Dean and I kicked off the weekend by purchasing a new car seat – Crazy times y’all, crazy times ;) He’s almost too big for his infant seat and Target was having a great sale!

Once Kyle got home we enjoyed a little happy hour action… Those dang Cheddar Bunnies – too good!

We stayed in and relaxed the rest of Friday evening.

On Saturday we were up bright and early and like I mentioned above, the morning temp was perfect so I took full advantage with a run. It felt great!

After cleaning up, Dean and I went to Hobby Lobby because I was determined to finish decorating our office/den this weekend.

Success!

Since it was stil before noon (I told you we were up early LOL), we decided to drive down to 3rt Street South for lunch and shopping.

I got a couple of dresses and shoes for a wedding we have this weekend – I’ll show you everything tomorrow! I haven’t been clothes shopping in quite some time so it was fun to let the boys walk around and to treat myself ;)

I kicked off Sunday with some cycling…

… then naptime. Those lips!

And then beach time!

And because National Sibling Day was yesterday, here’s an oldie of my sister and I.

How was your weekend?? Did you do anything fun?

My Current Top 5 FAVORITE workouts!

I’m quite thankful that I work in a fantastic gym and have the opportunity to try out new fitness classes and workouts all day everyday. Okay, maybe not ALL day, but you know what I mean ;)

It’s fun to stay on top of the fitness trends and chat with professionals in the industry about the up and coming fitness trends. While fitness fads can be fun and it is important to continually change up your workout routine to progress your fitness goals, I find it interesting that almost everyone has a favorite workout they go back to time and time again.

In the spirit of those favorite workouts, I am going to share my current five favorites today. These are the workouts I’m currently LOVING and going back to time and time again.

Hard Core. Nope, this isn’t just a core class! It is a circuit-style class with weight and cardio HIIT intervals. We typically have 12-15 weight training stations and move through them at 45-second intervals. After completing one round we head to the gym for quick blasts of cardio (think sprinting suicides, wall runs, etc.) and then head back for another round of the weight stations. We finish out with yet another round of cardio fun and then spend 5 minutes on our core. PHEW. I always feel like I’m working as hard as I can and pushing myself to the limits in Hard Core. LOVE. IT.

BODYPUMP. Y’all know how much I love my BODYPUMP. It’s an awesome workout. You know what you’re getting each and every time. It gives you results! I’ll never find another weight training class that I love more than this. End of story. If you haven’t been, find one in your area and get there STAT.

img_0176

TRX. I’m still new to TRX so my form leaves something to be desired but TRX has my muscles SCREAMING the next day. Screaming in a good way, that is ;) Body weight and straps… Who would have thought?! I typically take TRX circuit-style classes that have us going through multiple moves and muscles groups quickly and (relatively) painlessly. I’ve only been a few times and it has already crept up to a favorite of mine!

img_9934

Running. Hands down my favorite form of cardio. I think I love it because of its ease. All that is required is that you lace up your favorite pair of sneakers and head out the door. I love zoning out and feeling the breeze blow past me as I take in the scenery. So relaxing and (almost) always a killer cardio workout.

IMG_9524

Tabata. If you want a great workout but can only think of a few exercises, try a tabata! One exercise for four minutes straight – 20 seconds on, 10 seconds rest. I guarantee you’ll be feeling it by that 4 minute mark. It’s a great way to get that heart rate up while doing both cardio and strength exercises.

I would LOVE to give Les Mills GRIT and BODYCOMBAT a try… Those are next on my list!

What is your current favorite way to work up a sweat?

Weekending – Crust, the Zoo, and Cuban food!

Weekending, weekending – It was another fun weekend in Naples. Today started out super cloudy but it cleared off and turned out to be the most perfect day!

How about a weekend recap?

First of all, check out Dean’s Friday face. The kid cracks me up!

IMG_0666

After teaching BODYPUMP on Friday afternoon, I grabbed a late lunch at Chipotle with The Deanster. #chipotlequeen

IMG_0673

On Friday night, Kyle and I hit up the new Crust location with some friends. Dean was actually really good and entertained himself with a large table of kids behind us. I was surprised since we were out way past his bedtime.

Saturday morning was the launch of BODYPUMP97 at the Y. Launch day is always so much fun!

Late morning, we decided to take Dean to the Naples Zoo for the first time. Once per month the zoo admits Collier County residents for free (tickets are normally almost $20/person so it’s a deal!) so we took full advantage. It was HOTTTT but Dean had fun animal (and people, LOL) watching.

IMG_0721

IMG_0743

Kyle had been wanting to try Rumba Cuban Cafe FOREVER (apparently it is rated #1 on Trip Advisor in Naples) so we made a quick stop after the zoo for some lunch. It was SOOOO good! I wish we lived closer because I’d be there more often than I like to admit ;) The best places to eat in Naples tend to be in random strip malls and Rumba is no exception to that rule. YUM.

The rest of Saturday we hung out at home. Kyle grilled chicken for dinner and we called it an early night.

And Dean snacked in the nude ;)

IMG_0754

On Sunday morning I went out for a quick run – I didn’t have a time or distance goal in mind. It felt great!

IMG_0771

Even though it was cloudy, we hit up the beach for a little family walk. Walking in the sand with a 20 pounder is no joke…

IMG_0774

Kyle made lunch and had to do a little work so Dean and I made a Target run… Cheddar Bunnies for Deany, new pillow for mommy ;) That is how I like to shop!

IMG_0781

And now I’m all prepped for the week – Clean sheets on the bed (and Dean’s crib), lunches packed, floors vacuumed… ahh feels so good. Andddd I’m also currently shopping for a lazy susan, any recommendations? There are SO many options, I’m overwhelmed!

How was your weekend? Any fun happenings to report?
