Still Pregnant…

Oh, hi!

Remember me? Becky, the blogger behind Olives ‘n Wine? Yes? No?

It’s been 5 whole months and boy do I have a lot of updates to share with y’all.

  • I’m due with Little Brother (LB) TODAY, June 5th. Personally, I think my due date is closer to the 9th… we shall see!
  • With LB joining Dean in our family, I began my SAHM journey today. Wish me luck!
  • Yep, that means I am no longer managing group exercise or personal training at my favorite YMCA. Thankfully, I will continue to teach my beloved BODYPUMP and Spinning classes there after my maternity leave.
  • Not much travel (or wine… wahhh) have gone down recently. Dean and I traveled to Iowa in January, we visited Disney World as a family for my birthday, and other than that we’ve been enjoying the lovely Florida winter here in Naples. Kyle and I are planning our first non-kid vacay in the far off future though… Ideas? Recommendations? We’re thinking wine country ;-)
  • And yes, I’m bringing this little blog OUT OF HIBERNATION! Wahooooo!

More details to come on the above points! This is just a quick check in to let y’all know I’m still alive and kickin’… and experiencing a lot of kicks inside tonight as well, haha.

Make sure you’re following me on social media for up-to-the-minute snapshots of my life:

What is new with YOU? What have I missed? Fill a girl in!

I am really excited to share that – after months (no joke!) of consideration, I’ve decided to sign up as a Younique Presenter! Younique came out with a new Presenter Kit at the beginning of this year and it sold me. A few of the items in the new kit have been on my to-try list and since I was going to spend almost $99 purchasing them, I figured I might as well get the discount too!

Younique Presenter Kit

I am what you call a “kitnapper” ;-) This means that I purchased the Presenter Kit for $99 (it includes almost $300 worth of makeup!!) and plan on using my presenter-status solely for the discount on makeup. That being said, I AM keeping an open mind and doing my best to take the time to learn about the business opportunity as well. I want to make sure I’m informed about EVERYTHING Younique in case I need to answer a question. And well, I signed up as a distributor with AdvoCare with the very same intentions and it grew into a nice little side hustle for me that is paying off my student loans. Yay!

Now, let’s be real, I am totally not a makeup guru and the thought of me doing a makeup “how-to” video is comical… So definitely don’t expect me to be posting videos with makeup tips and tricks anytime soon ;-) What I do know is that I love every item of Younique that I’ve ever tried and not only am I excited to finally have a discount on my favorite beauty goodies, I’m excited to share them with all of you!

My current top 3 favorites include:

  • Moodstruck Precision Liquid Eyeliner <– I was SO scared to try this that I waited almost 2 months after my initial order to test it out. Ummm… Love at first application! Not only is it incredibly easy to apply (I am no makeup artist, haha…), it doesn’t move from your eyelids AT ALL. No more eyeliner below my eye and no running down my face during a workout. YASSSSSS!
  • Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes+ – This mascara was very recently reformulated and the new formula was included in the presenter kit I received. I LOVED the old formula and this one is even better!! My lashes look longer and fuller and it even seems a bit easier/faster to apply. I have blonde eyelashes so even though they’re fairly long, you can’t seem ’em without mascara. SUPER annoying. I haven’t tested this out during a workout yet but I will let you ASAP if it holds up during a sweat session.
  • Lucrative Lip Gloss – I confess. I am a lip gloss junkie! I love trying any and all brands of lip gloss but I am not too brave when it comes to bright/bold colors ;-) I love that the Lucrative Lip Gloss is affordable so I can try multiple colors and that it isn’t sticky. At all! There is almost nothing I hate more than sticky lip gloss, LOL. #firstworldproblems

Now for Younique products that I am super excited to try!

  • Moodstruck Lip Exfoliator – I don’t know about you, but my lips are ALWAYS dry. Can’t wait to give this a try and have my gloss go on nice and smooth. (FYI – This is included in the presenter kit so I will be trying it within the next week!)
  • Lip Bonbons Tinted Lip Balm – Along the same dry lips line… The Bonbons are supposed to be super  nourishing and I can’t wait to try it out!
  • Touch Mineral Liquid Foundation – I’m not a huge foundation girl but EVERYONE raves about this product so it is most definitely on my list. Once baby comes I know my skin is going to be looking “blah” due to hormonal changes and I’m hoping this can help a mama out!
  • BB Flawless Complexion Enhancer – I’ve always been intrigued by BB creams so naturally I’m intrigued by this product too. Moisturizer and foundation in one means fewer steps while I’m trying to get ready with a toddler clinging to my leg, haha!
  • Moodstruck Minerals Concealer – I’m a mom. ‘Nuff said.
  • Royalty Moisture Boosting Gentle Cleanser – I’ve been searching for a new cleanser for a while now. Fingers crossed I love this one!
  • Royalty Detoxifying Mask – OMG AM I SO EXCITED TO TRY THIS!!!!! My friend always posts photos of herself on Facebook with this (charcoal-based) mask and it looks like a great product. I received a few samples in my presenter kit so be on the lookout for a scary charcoal-mask selfie, haha!

I have A LOT to learn and a lot of new beauty products to try. If you have any tips or tricks or any favorite Younique products, give me a shout out in the comments. I’m super excited to FINALLY get into makeup at the age of {almost} 32 :-)

2017 New Year’s Resolution… Number 2

This year I’ve decided to type up my New Year’s Resolutions in separate posts. I like to do a little bit of explaining when it comes to goals and this will help me elaborate each goal without writing a novel! ;)

Resolution #1

Resolution #2?

Stick with my new motto: Actions over goals.

Image result for 2017

I’m typing up New Year’s resolutions. It is OBVIOUS that I like setting goals for myself. Here is the thing about goals, they’re great at giving you an idea of where you want to go/be but just setting a goal won’t get you results. You must perform specific actions to achieve your desired results.

I wish we could set goals like…

Reduce my body fat percentage by 5 points.

Improve my half marathon PR by 7 minutes.

Grow my business by 15%.

Wake up each morning to a clean kitchen.

Set aside 10 minutes per day for relaxation.

… And they would JUST. HAPPEN.

Sadly, that isn’t the way things work!

So, with my 2017 resolution of actions over goals, I am not going to stop setting goals each week or month or annually, but I am going to put specific action steps behind each goal… Actions that require my attention weekly, if not more often. These action steps will help me get closer to my goals and – hopefully! – surpass my own personal expectations.

I’m curious – Do you often set SMART (specific-measurable-attainable-realistic-timely) goals? How often to think about the action needed to meet your goals?

Here’s to 2017 being an ACTION-FILLED year!

2017 New Year’s Resolution… Number 1

This year I’ve decided to type up my New Year’s Resolutions in separate posts. I like to do a little bit of explaining when it comes to goals and this will help me elaborate each goal without writing a novel! ;)

Resolution #1?

Reduce my/our (sorry, Kyle) unnecessary spending.

Image result for 2017

The driving force behind this resolution is that I have been able to pay off debt by limiting our spending and paying off debt is one of the best feelings EVER! I checked my car off of the list back in June and my $30 grand of student loans will be DONEZO come the end of January if everything goes as planned.

We thankfully don’t have other debt (besides our mortgage) after my student loans have been paid off, but why not save our “extra” money for big item, fun things… Like remodeling our kitchen or putting in a pool/larger lanai or a trip to Europe? I’d much rather put my money toward these larger things than spend it on spur-of-the-moment, unnecessary splurges.

So, what do I consider unnecessary?

It totally depends!

Sometimes lunch out is NEEDED for my sanity, but most of the time it is an unnecessary expense.

That “sale” at the outlet mall? Yep, I most likely need to skip it unless I’ve been eyeing something for a LONG time or Dean has no clothes that fit ;)

My super expensive facial care line that I LOVE but that costs me $200+ every few months? *sniff, sniff* I don’t need it.

A pricey bottle of wine at our local liquor store? Maybe needed for a special occasion, but for most days, box wine does the job JUST fine.

Family dinner at a restaurant? HAHAHAHA – We always think this is a good idea UNTIL we sit down and Dean wants to run around. It’s much more pleasant to let him run around, jabbering up a storm at home while we make our own dinner (for a lot less money too!) than to stress about noise at a restaurant ;)

I LOVE a good mani/pedi so it pains me to say these are unnecessary, LOL. They are needed before a vacation or a fun girls’ day out, but (sadly) they are not needed weekly.

Weekly golfing trips during season. Sorry Kyle, not worth the crazy expensive price!

I would say that we already do a fairly good job of keeping our spending in check. I have a monthly budget Excel document that I update bi-weekly so we know where our money is going and can pull back if anything looks out of control. We also (normally) check in with each other prior to larger purchases.

I am excited to continue with this goal into 2017 and see what fun things we can do for our family with our savings!

What is one of your 2017 New Year’s Resolutions?

Small Business Saturday

On this Small Business Saturday, I want to extend a big THANK YOU to everyone who has supported me in my business endeavors! From this blog to AdvoCare to my online personal training business, I appreciate each and every one of you.

Y’all rock my socks!

In celebration of entrepreneurship and shopping small businesses, I’m offering a few specials today through next Saturday, December 3rd.

Below are four AdvoCare bundles to get us all through the holiday season! I’m all about enjoying my favorite foods, holiday parties, WINE (obviously…), and Christmas treats this time of year. These bundles – like my personal training packages, will help you to feel happy, healthy, and minimize your stress from now through the end of 2016. Then come 2017, we will go ALL-IN together with a 24-Day Challenge! I cannot wait!

If you’re interested in any of the below bundles, please contact me or comment below for more information, including pricing, flavors, and discount options!

Energy! Does anyone else struggle with keeping your eyes open this time of year? Between the holiday parties and the work potlucks and the kids’ concerts and plays, it feels like there aren’t enough hours in the day to get all of the holiday stuff done. Do not fear, my friends! MNS (a daily vitamin pack that will not only boost your energy but will also have you feeling like a million bucks!) plus Spark will do the trick. This bundle is an important part of my daily routine, holiday season or not.

Can we all say stuffing and mashed potatoes and green bean casserole?! YUMMY!! I’m not one to make healthy versions of recipes over the holidays… traditional recipes are the best! These products help me feel great while indulging in my favorite holiday foods. They are not miracle workers (those don’t exist!) but they – along with BODYPUMP and eating an 80/20 diet – keep my pants fitting come January ;)

You don’t have to tell me twice that holiday stress is running high! Clear Mood + Oasis help you effectively manage stress throughout the crazy holiday weeks. Don’t less stress rule your holidays!

This is my FAVORITE bundle! FRESH START! Great products that will make you feel fantastic each and every day. Fiber + Probiotic Restore to keep your digestion game strong throughout the holiday party and yummy food season. Spark to provide lasting energy. Again, thank you from the bottom ofmy mama  heart! I love helping people live healthier and happier lives and I can’t do it without ALL of you!

Happy Small Business Saturday!

The day after.

Dear Hillary,

I hope it’s okay that we are on a first name basis. I prayed with all of my might that I would be able to type “Madame President” today, but, as my parents taught me from a young age, we can’t always have everything we want in life. So, Hillary it is.

Here we are, the day after election day. November 9, 2016. I am having some trouble sorting through my thoughts and my emotions. Writing always seems to help me in these times and who better to pen a letter to than the woman I was (and still am) rooting for over the past few months?

I confess. I knew in the pit of my stomach that it was over – that he had won, as soon as the Florida race became nail-biting close. By the way, I got a manicure on Saturday. In retrospect, that was a poor decision.

I went to bed at 10:30pm last night. CNN was causing me too much anxiety to continue watching the election coverage and the results rolling in. You are a brave, brave woman for enduring the entire evening. I once thought I wanted to be a politician, maybe even POTUS, as a young girl. Now I realize I do not have the resolve nor the strength to do such a thing. You amaze me. But I digress.

I awoke at 1am, (unfortunately) checked the news and lay frozen in bed, praying with all of my might that you – that WE – would somehow pull off an election night miracle. Was this really happening? 3am rolled around and I cried. I cried out of disappointment. I cried for my grandmothers who would have been so proud to have a woman running for the highest office in the land. I cried for all of the young girls who wore pant suits yesterday and for the glass ceiling that was left unshattered and because I was damn tired of this election cycle. But mostly I cried because my worst fear had become real – Hate, HATE had won the election of United States of America.

I awoke this morning with a grief I have (thankfully) only experienced a few times in my life. It’s the type of grief that comes when a loved one passes. I didn’t expect to feel this way. Honestly, I didn’t expect the election results to turn out how they did but even then, I have never once felt this emotion outside of a death-related situation. I feel gut punched. I am in disbelief. I am scared. The more I think about it, the more I believe that I am grieving a false ideology I had about the citizens of our great country. I never once thought there was so much hatred. So much racism. So much misogyny. So much prejudice. So much ignorance.

How naive must I be!

Let me tell you a little about my day, Hillary.

I wanted to curl up in a hole, stay deep under the covers and pray that this was all a dream. But, as you can relate, I am a mama and there are no sick days in motherhood. My husband wanted to talk about the election before he left for work, but I told him I couldn’t handle it at the moment. I had a lump in my throat. As I fed my son breakfast, I messaged a few friends and was shocked to find I wasn’t the only one with this sickening feeling in the pit of my stomach. I scrolled through that secret Facebook group you mentioned in your speech. If anything, that provided relief that I wasn’t alone in this mess.

I am a fitness director at a local gym and on Wednesday mornings at 8am I teach a killer spin class. (If you’re ever in Naples, please join me!) The LAST thing I thought I could do this morning was perform in front a fitness class. But I am a woman and we somehow always manage to pull our shit together and get done what needs to be done. I dropped my son off at daycare, allowed myself to lose it in the bathroom for 15 seconds, and then walked into class and I OWNED it. It was probably one of the best classes I have taught in a long time and my voice only cracked once. It was for you.

I somehow managed to make it through a meeting and the rest of my day without breaking down in public. After work I called my dad. I had texted him in the morning and told him I was struggling with the election and needed some words of encouragement. I think I managed to sputter, “I just don’t understand why I am feeling this way…” before totally losing it on the drive home. Thank goodness my son was asleep in his car seat. Our conversation reassured me that I was not alone. That the world is not ending. That our country has made faulty decisions in the past and yet we are still the greatest nation in the world. That we need to be vigilant and be the change we want to see.

For the first time in my life, I woke up thankful to be white this morning. How disgusting is that thought? I am repulsed just typing it in this letter. I have never been fearful due to the color of my skin. My son will have privileges afforded to him because he is white and he is male. My job of teaching him the importance of kindness, acceptance, inclusiveness, and love is even more important now. He needs to grow up understanding that diversity is what makes this country great and that he has a great responsibility to show respect for all kinds of people, not just people that happen to look and act like him.

Your concession speech this morning brought tears to my already tearful eyes. You apologized to us. But Hillary, that is what we do as women when something goes wrong – even if it isn’t our fault, we apologize. I know you feel as if you let us down. You most definitely did not. While you weren’t the perfect candidate (no offense – I never fully agree with any political candidate and we are all only human after all), you inspired young girls, professional women, mothers, grandmothers. You inspired and gave hope to my gay friends, to college men and women, to anyone who has ever aspired to do something and were told no.

I am not upset with the Trump supporters. I firmly believe everyone has a right to their own opinion and while I vehemently disagree with their beliefs and do not believe they accurately represent our country, I respect their decision. I am, however, extremely disappointed that so many people support hate. And I do not believe that hate, disrespect, ignorance or fear will ever rule this great nation.

Tomorrow will be a new day. I pray that as the grief subsides, we will stay united as a nation. That we will provide hope for our future.

I want to challenge you, Hillary. I want to challenge you and my fellow nasty women to take a step back and look at the broader picture. What can we do to make our world a better place TODAY? How can we show that love does indeed rule our land? And as 2020 approaches (and I pray it arrives sooner rather than later), I hope that we have a game plan in place to defeat hate. To defeat racism. To move forward, not backwards. To show our young girls and boys that kindness truly matters.

Thank you for listening and thank you for all you have done for this great country of ours.

Our weekend at Disney

Last weekend, Kyle, Dean and I spent a few days in Orlando. It was Dean’s (and mine too!) first time visiting a Disney Park so, of course, I need to recap it on the blog. His reaction to all of the characters and the shows was adorable and we cannot wait to go back!

Early Friday morning, we packed up Kyle’s new car and make the 3-hour trek up to Orlando. The drive is actually pretty easy and Dean was a good little guy the entire way.

(Gross gas station restroom break along the way… Too much Spark on the drive, haha!

On a side note, next time I think it’ll be totally worth it to stay at a Disney resort… Between parking + the trolley + the tram, just getting to the ticket office is a bit crazy. The resorts drop you off at the entrance and that is worth every extra penny ;)

Our first Disney stop was Magic Kingdom! Ahhh… I was so excited, I have wanted to visit a Disney Park for probably 25 years and it was finally happening!

Of course we had the obligatory castle photo upon arrival. It was hot, hot, HOT the day we visited Magic Kingdom so we decided to take the photos before we were all drenched in sweat ;)

After our photos, our first stop was a snack break… Per Kyle’s request we treated Dean to his first ever taste of Nutella. He LOVED IT and ate his Nutella waffle with pure joy.

Next up, we decided to cool down (yeah, we were already HOT) with a short, 3D film. Dean seemed to like it but without wearing the glasses, I’m not sure he knew what was going on, LOL.

We had our Fast Passes for the Winnie the Pooh ride next – It was our first official “ride” at Disney. Dean seemed to enjoy all of the characters and he, obviously, loved playing the play area for kiddos after the ride.

The MOST important ride was next… The Little Mermaid ;) I like how they incorporated the music from the movie into this ride. Dean’s facial expressions were so funny with the fish and bird characters. It was most definitely his favorite.

We had a little break between our Fast Passes then so we walked and walked and walked some more! We tried to stay in the shade but man, it was still a super warm day.

Kyle took Dean on the carousal for a break in the shade… I avoided it so I wouldn’t get nauseated, haha.

After meeting a few princesses (Dean was confused) and Ariel, Dean picked out his very own Mickey Mouse and we called it a day. We were all super hot and tired and had seen our fair share of the park.

Friday was the only day we actually hit up a Disney Park while we were in Orlando. Kyle and I had a leadership event with AdvoCare on Saturday and on Sunday, Kyle’s parents were in town (they watched Dean on Saturday) so we decided to spend time with them rather than boil at another park. We still have 3 days left in our 4-day passes and are excited to enjoy another long weekend in Orlando when the weather cools.

Oh! Before I forget, we hit up an AMAZING restaurant on Saturday night for dinner called Cafe Tu Tu Tango. It is a tapas-style restaurant with a super fun atmosphere. I love sharing small plates and all of the art in the restaurant is designed by local artists. They had live music and a live artist while we were there – fun, right? It was loud (aka – kid friendly, haha) and I can see it as a good place to get together with friends.

prAna Fall Style – Fashion Review + Discount Code

As part of the #pranafallstyle campaign, I was given the opportunity to review two of prAna’s fall pieces!

Yes, yes… I know… I live in Florida, I still have a good 2-3 months until fall weather hits. Please don’t remind me! Fall is my favorite season and I love getting in the cool weather mood early. I don’t know about you but my cool weather mood involves cute and comfy fall fashion along with everything pumpkin and candles.

Thanks to prAna, I was able to try out two of their pieces – the London Jean in Dark Indigo and the Stacia Sweater in charcoal. I only have one photo and it is inside because it was 95 degrees the day I decided to take photos ;) #notsweaterweather

I look casual chic, yes?! ;)

Both pieces are not only the perfect fall fashion pieces, they are also super comfortable and will be great for a day of football watching with friends. The jeans and the sweater are both made with organic cotton and the Stacia Sweater is also fair trade certified! The dark hue of the London Jeans is very flattering – I also love that these jeans are not super low cut… No worries about your undies showing when you sit on the ground or move around.

I already know that I am going to LIVE in the Stacia Sweater during this Florida winter! I love the loose fit and it would be easy to layer if you choose to do so. I’m a huge fan of the color gray and the slight pattern of the stitching adds a unique touch to this lightweight piece. I also own a pair of prAna’s Meme Pant in Cargo Green and this sweater is going to look FAB when I wear them together.

We have a family trip next month to the mountains and you better bet that I’ll be wearing both of my new prAna pieces to stay warm! Cute, comfy, fashionable, and easy to wear – What more could you want for fall fashion?

Now, it’s time to get yourself some fall fashion! It is your lucky day as well… prAna has offered my readers a 15% discount on all prAna gear until 10/31/16! Use the following code at checkout to save yourself some serious cash… and look cute while doing it ;)

For 15% off prAna gear, use the following code:

Now, until fall hits, you’ll find me with the AC cranked way down chillin’ inside in my new jeans and sweater.

What is your favorite thing about fall? What piece of fashion do you always find yourself wearing once the weather cools?
