Baby Boy #2 Wishlist

We are excited to welcome Little Brother into our family in June!

I was (not-so) secretly hoping for a second boy – I had images of bunk beds and a baseball-themed room and brothers in my head, PLUS boy meant we didn’t need any new baby items. Although, let’s be real, if it were a baby sister on the way, she’d end up wearing lots of blue ;-)

Thankfully, a second boy it is – Deany gets a brother and mama gets her bunk beds!

We’ve had family and friends offer to show throw us a baby shower for the little guy, but because we need NOTHING, we’ve kindly turned down offers.

That being said, we do have a bit of a “wishlist” as our family grows. Most of these are all wants rather than needs (besides diapers!), but it is still fun to look!

So, here is our wishlist for Baby Boy #2.

1. Diapers. Obviously. We used Pampers brand with Dean until he was a size 4 then we switched to Target Up & Up brand which has worked well for us. We are hoping they work just as well this time around.

2. Pacifiers. Again, I’m stating the obvious here. Glow in the dark is KEY if you ask me ;-)

3. Instant Pot. Okay, you can laugh. But seriously, this thing can make shredded chicken in about 15 minutes. SOLD. Quick meals are lifesavers with toddlers and babies… Yup, totally on the wishlist.

4. PacaPod Madison Leather Baby Bag. DROOL. How gorgeous is this diaper bag?! I know, I know… the price tag is hefty but when you will be carrying something every. single. day. for at least two years, it is worth it! I also love that this can be adjusted to be a shoulder bag or a backpack. I’ve been eyeing baby bag backpacks lately and would love to carry this beauty around daily.

Summer Infant Baby Touch Pan/Scan/Zoom Video Baby Monitor, 3.5"

5. Summer Infant Baby Monitor. This is more of a need on our list. Our current Motorola baby monitor is AWFUL. It never keeps signal and beeps LOUDLY when it loses connection with the camera… which is typically right when I’m falling asleep so it not only wakes me but also Dean. Lovely. I can’t wait to throw it away and hopefully replace it with this monitor that comes with glowing reviews!

Baby Jogger 2016 City Select Double Stroller with 2nd Seat, Onyx

6. City Select Double Stroller. I do NOT like wide strollers. You know, the ones with two seats side by side. They don’t fit on sidewalks, you can’t walk past them, and they’re just HUGE. I wasn’t sure a “double decker” stroller existed but some mama’s in my mom group pointed me to the City Select. The price tag is hefty, but again, this is something that we will be using for years. I like the multiple configurations for this one and considering we can go on walks outside 365 days/year in Florida, it is worth it!

7. City Select Double Stroller Carseat Adapter. We gotta be able to connect the infant car seat to the stroller… A little add on to #6 :-)

That’s what is on our list currently… I am looking for recommendations for a RUNNING stroller for 2 kiddos. We won’t need it until around December 2017 as I like to wait 6-ish months before running with little ones. If you have any recommendations, I’m all ears!

Second time mama’s, what was/is on your baby wish list?

#77 Treat Yourself Tuesday

Holy moly the past few days flew by! Traveling while pregnant is exhausting and it is definitely nice to be home. It was a really awesome weekend full of family and friends and I can’t wait to share it with y’all today for Treat Yourself Tuesday… even though it was more of everyone else treating MJ :)

Over the weekend there were A LOT of food treats and I sadly didn’t take photos of half of it…

The Cafe 3 times (afternoon hot chocolate/dessert, pre-shower lunch, and Sunday pastries, hehe!)… Olde Main Brewery for dinner on Friday night… Hickory Park for Saturday night dinner… and a lot of home cookin’ <– Yes, I’m STILL full. Oof!

My sister and I treated ourselves to manicures on Friday afternoon.

And then Kyle and I stalked out all of the new (or at least new-to-us) Cy statues across Ames.

Saturday was shower day! We spent the afternoon with so many of our family and friends – MBA friends, sorority friends, Kyle’s family from Chicago and Des Moines, my family from Iowa City and Nebraska and Ames… It was so nice that everyone took the time to come celebrate the little man and we definitely felt loved!

My cousin who is due a few weeks before me made the drive from Omaha. It is always fun to spend time with fellow preggos and countdown our days until our next glass of wine ;)

My sister set up a beautiful snack table including cute Iowa State decor as well as a fun entry table with baby photos of Kyle and I.

And then the gifts – oh the gifts! Our friends and family were incredibly generous and we are so thankful! Little Dean received many quilts and blankets, enough clothes to be the most fashionable baby in Naples (and that says a lot, haha!), lots of books to make him super smart, a Motorola baby monitor, and some fun toys for his car seat and for home. Mitchell already has his eye on Sophie the Giraffe – We’ll see who’s uses her as a teether first ;) A few other gifts we received that I didn’t snap photos of include a boppy, a Baby Bjorn carrier, a stroller, a crib, a Baby Bullet for baby food, money (we’re putting it toward a washer/dryer for the new house – a baby needs that, right!?), and Target and Babies ‘R’ Us gift cards.

I think what y’all should be most impressed with, however, are my packing skills. I managed to fit it ALL in a suitcase to bring back down to Florida.

The cold weather was NOT a treat. We woke up to -9 pre-windchill on Saturday morning. Blech! My skin was definitely not used to the dry air… I think I went through an entire tube of Chapstick over the weekend.

Kyle and I can’t say THANK YOU enough to everyone that made the weekend so special. It’s frightening to think that the next time we see our families, we will be parents and have a small, screaming baby.

And with that… excuse me while I go wash multiple loads of baby clothes in preparation!

How did you treat yourself over the past week? When was the last baby shower you attended? Favorite baby item you mamas received at your shower?

What mama’s really want at their baby shower

While Kyle and I will greatly appreciate all of the gifts given to MJ at our baby shower in a few weeks, I’m going to let y’all in on a little secret this morning.

Let me tell you what parents-to-be really want at their baby shower…

1. Updated technology, for example an iPhone 6. Let’s be real, this isn’t for the future parents-to-be, it’s for all of the friends and family that want quality videos and pictures of the new babe sent their way. I mean, a mama needs to document her little one and what better way to do it with the most up-to-date technology?! Especially when her phone is on the outs…

2. This diaper bag. Yes, I know I just purchased the diaper bag that we will be using once MJ arrives (even though Kyle thinks we should just strap a saddle to Mitchell instead… boys!) but I would never in a million years turn away this gorgeous piece of material.

Burberry Diaper Bag

3. Spark. ALL the Spark. We’re going to need it by the ton.

4. Wine. Whoever gifts us our favorite grape concoction at the shower will hold a special place in my heart forever. Wine + Spark should get me through the first few months of motherhood. It is a shame that I can’t add wine to our Target baby registry…

5. Botox. Yes, I understand this sounds vain, and no, I do not care.  Babies give you wrinkles and I know plenty of mamas that give themselves a little boost with the b to the ox. Thankfully, there are plastic surgeons abound in SW Florida andI’m sure they would be more than willing to shoot a few units of toxin into my forehead a few times per year ;)

Bring us one (or all) of these items and we’ll be good to go. Because all you really need for a baby are diapers and love (and all of the above), right? ;)
