Younique!

I am really excited to share that – after months (no joke!) of consideration, I’ve decided to sign up as a Younique Presenter! Younique came out with a new Presenter Kit at the beginning of this year and it sold me. A few of the items in the new kit have been on my to-try list and since I was going to spend almost $99 purchasing them, I figured I might as well get the discount too!

Younique Presenter Kit

I am what you call a “kitnapper” ;-) This means that I purchased the Presenter Kit for $99 (it includes almost $300 worth of makeup!!) and plan on using my presenter-status solely for the discount on makeup. That being said, I AM keeping an open mind and doing my best to take the time to learn about the business opportunity as well. I want to make sure I’m informed about EVERYTHING Younique in case I need to answer a question. And well, I signed up as a distributor with AdvoCare with the very same intentions and it grew into a nice little side hustle for me that is paying off my student loans. Yay!

Now, let’s be real, I am totally not a makeup guru and the thought of me doing a makeup “how-to” video is comical… So definitely don’t expect me to be posting videos with makeup tips and tricks anytime soon ;-) What I do know is that I love every item of Younique that I’ve ever tried and not only am I excited to finally have a discount on my favorite beauty goodies, I’m excited to share them with all of you!

My current top 3 favorites include:

  • Moodstruck Precision Liquid Eyeliner <– I was SO scared to try this that I waited almost 2 months after my initial order to test it out. Ummm… Love at first application! Not only is it incredibly easy to apply (I am no makeup artist, haha…), it doesn’t move from your eyelids AT ALL. No more eyeliner below my eye and no running down my face during a workout. YASSSSSS!
  • Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes+ – This mascara was very recently reformulated and the new formula was included in the presenter kit I received. I LOVED the old formula and this one is even better!! My lashes look longer and fuller and it even seems a bit easier/faster to apply. I have blonde eyelashes so even though they’re fairly long, you can’t seem ’em without mascara. SUPER annoying. I haven’t tested this out during a workout yet but I will let you ASAP if it holds up during a sweat session.
  • Lucrative Lip Gloss – I confess. I am a lip gloss junkie! I love trying any and all brands of lip gloss but I am not too brave when it comes to bright/bold colors ;-) I love that the Lucrative Lip Gloss is affordable so I can try multiple colors and that it isn’t sticky. At all! There is almost nothing I hate more than sticky lip gloss, LOL. #firstworldproblems

Now for Younique products that I am super excited to try!

  • Moodstruck Lip Exfoliator – I don’t know about you, but my lips are ALWAYS dry. Can’t wait to give this a try and have my gloss go on nice and smooth. (FYI – This is included in the presenter kit so I will be trying it within the next week!)
  • Lip Bonbons Tinted Lip Balm – Along the same dry lips line… The Bonbons are supposed to be super  nourishing and I can’t wait to try it out!
  • Touch Mineral Liquid Foundation – I’m not a huge foundation girl but EVERYONE raves about this product so it is most definitely on my list. Once baby comes I know my skin is going to be looking “blah” due to hormonal changes and I’m hoping this can help a mama out!
  • BB Flawless Complexion Enhancer – I’ve always been intrigued by BB creams so naturally I’m intrigued by this product too. Moisturizer and foundation in one means fewer steps while I’m trying to get ready with a toddler clinging to my leg, haha!
  • Moodstruck Minerals Concealer – I’m a mom. ‘Nuff said.
  • Royalty Moisture Boosting Gentle Cleanser – I’ve been searching for a new cleanser for a while now. Fingers crossed I love this one!
  • Royalty Detoxifying Mask – OMG AM I SO EXCITED TO TRY THIS!!!!! My friend always posts photos of herself on Facebook with this (charcoal-based) mask and it looks like a great product. I received a few samples in my presenter kit so be on the lookout for a scary charcoal-mask selfie, haha!

I have A LOT to learn and a lot of new beauty products to try. If you have any tips or tricks or any favorite Younique products, give me a shout out in the comments. I’m super excited to FINALLY get into makeup at the age of {almost} 32 :-)

The 5 Minute Face

Happy Friday, my friends! I have one of my fav bloggers here for you today, Mia from Make Me Up Mia. If y’all couldn’t tell by now, I am far from a beauty expert. Sure, I like to spend half of my income at Sephora like any other gal, but then it tends to just sit in my make-up bag, LOL. I’m so excited that Mia is sharing a beauty routine that everyone (including us new moms that need a face lift the most!) has time to add to their mornings.

Hey ONW readers! I’m happy to be filling in for Becky and sharing a few makeup tips with you all today. I should have called this the “5 Minute Face Challenge”, my husband didn’t have any faith that I could actually do my makeup in 5 minutes… I can’t really blame him, he really is always waiting on me. In my defense, I just really enjoy doing my makeup. I like to turn on some music and take my time. I’m such a beauty junkie. I never make us late though, he’s just a boy so it takes him 5 minutes to get ready no matter what, shower included. Men, hmpf. However, there are certainly times that the clock isn’t on our side but we want/need to look put together. I have some products & tips for you to keep in mind the next time you’ve overslept, the baby has gone through 3 unplanned outfit changes or it’s just that morning where every single thing is going wrong!

Ok, I really only have 1 major tip here… Use time saver products, ones that are multitasking. This is huge!

1. No time for priming, foundation & concealer? Covergirl 3in1 foundation is my holy grail, and not just when I’m in a hurry. It’s long lasting, a flawless finish and the perfect time saver. The 3-in-1 formula consists of foundation, concealer and primer. Plus, it’s SPF 20.

2. Cream shadows are awesome one step products too. You can swipe it on quickly using just your finger. I love Benefit’s Creaseless Cream Shadow in R.S.V.P. It’s a pretty champagne shade with just enough color to it to brighten your eyes up, making them pop.

3. I’m a sucker for a good highlight and blush is a must for me for an instant healthy glow. I bought this Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Rose last year and it quickly became a favorite for me.

4. I never paid much attention to my brows, but once I started to, I realized how much it can really transform your face. Shaped brows really frame out your face, making you look even more put together. Another holy grail product for me is Benefit’s Gimme Brow. It’s not dramatic but buildable, just enough color to lightly darken them and the gel formula keeps them in place all day. Love this stuff!

5. I like soft eye liners. They are so much easier to work with and easy to smudge them creating a quick smoked out liner. I always use the Urban Decay 24/7 pencils. They’re the softest and most pigmented liners I’ve ever used. I draw a thin line, then use a q-tip to smudge it out a little.

6. My mom was right about a lot of things, even though I didn’t always think so at the time. She used to tell me “a makeup look just isn’t done without lipstick.” She was always applying her lipstick, well she still is. It took me a while to get it, or maybe to admit she was right, but now I understand. A pretty lip color is truly the finishing touch. Bold or light, it really does complete your look. Today I used shade 101 from the Kate Moss for Rimmel line for a pale pink.

7. If I had time for one product and one product only, it’d be mascara. Hands down. How many of you agree with me on this? My go to is always L’Oreal Voluminous.

Alright ladies, there’s a few product ideas for the next time you find yourself in a pinch. For the record, I set my timer. It took me 5 minutes and 3 seconds… I say win, Dustin would probably say fail.

What is your daily must have beauty product?

#3 Treat Yourself Tuesday {TYT}

Well hello there and welcome to Treat Yourself Tuesday!

Again, a BIG thank you to everyone that participated in Treat Yourself Tuesday last week. I loved reading all of the ways you treated yourself and can’t wait to see what this week has to offer!

Treat Yourself Tuesday Badge

If you’re new to TYT, head over here to read about why I am a firm supporter and advocate for treating ourselves – even in the smallest of ways – everyday! I promise you will fall in love with the idea and once you do, please link up below :)

Before I get into my little treats of the week, I want to thank all of you AGAIN (I’m full of thankfulness today!!) for all of you sweet Tweets, Instagram notes, emails and texts about my first day of work! I couldn’t respond to them right away because I was in meetings all day but they made me smile and I loved feeling the love. You are all seriously the best and I love each of you <3

first day Collage

My alarm went off super early and I didn’t want to get up but I fit in a quick elliptical workout before getting glammed up for my first day! (Notice the sideways thumbs up??! I was too groggy to even get my thumb the right way, haha!)

Everyone on my team was really nice – I was treated to a bagel from Dunkin’ Donuts for breakfast and a lunch out at Freshii and a Starbucks tea in the afternoon. I don’t have any photos because I was not about to be the new girl who oddly takes photos of everything she eats ;)

mel card Collage

I arrived home a little after 5pm to an adorable card from Melanie! She’s the sweetest and this card is just what I needed after my first day. Plus it cracked me up ;)

Okay, now onto how I treated myself this week! Can you guess what I did?

#3 tyt

Yep, a bit more shopping ;) Hehe…

On Friday I found out that my office wears jeans 3x/week and I own one pair – yikes! I went out on an emergency shopping trip for jeans and found a pair of Citizens of Humanity at Nordstrom’s. I also picked up a gorgeous necklace from J.Crew and some beauty essentials from Sephora.

The necklace was only $30 (woohoo!) I decided to take a risk and try the new Sugar Lip Treatment – LOVE IT! It leaves my lips so soft and isn’t very sticky like most lip glosses. If you haven’t tried it, Lash Perfekt mascara gel is seriously the best thing ever. It conditions your lashes, making them more healthy and it looks so natural when applied.

Next week (or I guess this week…) – no shopping, I promise! I have to wait until I get my first paycheck before I hit up anymore stores… Stay tuned for a creative TYT next Thursday :)

Now I’m curious, what did YOU do to treat yourself this week?

Gust-O Blow Dry Bar

On Thursday evening, my friend Jen and I headed to Gust-O Blow Dry Bar for a fun girls’ night full of happy hour-ing and hair blow outs!

We started out our afternoon at Urban Eatery located in Uptown – a fun, hip part of Minneapolis next to Lake Calhoun.

To be honest, we were both somewhat hesitant to head to Gust-O. We’re picky about our hair and don’t like people messing with it. Jen has long gorgeous hair and prefers styling it her way and I’m always afraid that over-styling my hair will make it fall out. Plus, I had an awful experience with a blow out at my sister’s bachelorette party last summer – greasy bangs and too much product! So, after a couple glasses of liquid courage (aka: the house pinot grigio on happy hour!), we headed down the street to get pretty.

We were excitedly greeted and offered beverages by our stylists – my stylist was Heather – and taken back to get our hair washed. While I was getting a wonderful head massage, Heather asked me how I wanted my hair to be styled. I had briefly looked at Gust-O’s website earlier in the day and knew that I wanted the “Natural – long soft waves” look for the evening.

My hair isn’t very long at the moment – just slightly past my shoulders – so I told Heather to do the best she could with what she had to work with :)

Another lovely aspect of my hair is that it doesn’t hold any styling whatever. None, zip, zilch. Wanna put curl it in it? HAH! Or keep it straight on a humid day? Good luck to ya. It just doesn’t happen. Poor Heather had it in for her!

Luckily for Heather, Gust-O uses Living Proof hair products which are co-owned by Jennifer Aniston. This was my first experience with Living Proof and the hair line is seriously amazing. Not only did it make my hair curl, it didn’t feel like there was any product in my hair whatsoever! It was slightly breezy in Minneapolis on Thursday and my curls held up, even during a windy post-blow out happy hour on Amore Victoria’s rooftop with Jen.

And in case you’re wondering, yes, Jen and I like our happy hours – two in one day ;)

My finished hair style was much different than anything I would normally do and I loved it! The soft curls, mega volume and flirty bounce made me feel like I should have a night out on the town!

It also made me realize that I need to get more creative and fun with my hair. My daily straight iron or ponytail aren’t going to cut it anymore!

Overall, I was REALLY impressed by Gust-O! I’ve had other blow outs before that have left my hair feeling crunchy and greasy. My blow out on Thursday still looked awesome on Friday morning and I debated skipping my morning run so I could show off my curls to my BLEND girls :)

I highly recommend checking out Gust-O if you are in the Minneapolis area! They also have a location in Boston for all of my Boston friends (De and Charlotte, that’s you!) :)

A big thanks to Heather who not only made my hair look amazing but also convinced me that I am definitely not going bald ;)

Have you had a blow out before? How do you typically style your hair? Any tips on how to convince my hair to hold curl?
