Friday Favs!

Hey, hey – Happy FriYAY!

Whatcha up to this weekend? You know how I mentioned a weekend surprise the other day? Well, we changed our mind… We were planning on hitting up Disney for a quick trip over the weekend but it’s supposed to be super rainy and I wasn’t too keen on driving up to Orlando by myself with The Deanster (Kyle was there for a conference this week). That’s the nice thing about living so close to Disney, we can go whenever we want!

So, this weekend will be a lot of relaxing, a date night out on Saturday and that’s about it.

Let’s chat this week’s favorites!

Since it was still less than a week ago – Dean’s 1st birthday party is my favorite favorite <– LOL. It was so much fun and although I’m glad to be done planning, I am happy how it turned out!

Friends vacation in SW Florida! Dean and I visited a friend for pool time and dinner last night – One of the perks of living in paradise, people want to vacation where you live ;) They rented an amazing condo on the beach not too far from where we live… It was great to see them!

Toddler cuddles – Deany was having a whiny day earlier this week which meant lots of cuddles. I think another tooth is getting ready to pop through. Send wine and Spark and alllllll my mama juices!

My new Plum Paper planner arriving in the mail! Yayyyyy – I added in both a fitness and a meal planning section (I need some motivation lately!) and while my planner starts in June, I have already started jotting notes in it. LOVE IT!

Kicking off my Two Week Tone Up program in a few short days (the day AFTER Memorial Day, to be exact!) – I have a good group coming together for it. It’s so easy to commit to only 14 days. Can’t wait!

Two Week Tone Up!

And on that note, I’m also mailing out Spark to a few of my friends who need an energy boost – If that is you, give me a shout! I’d be more than happy to send one your way as well.

Last but definitely not least, a new running schedule! I am not training for anything specifically at the moment but I am making time to fit in a few runs during the week in addition to the weekends. It feels great to get out there before work and fit in a few miles.

What are a few of your favorites from the week?

Friday Favs

Is it Friday? Are we sure? I’ve had all of my days this week confused – I thought Monday was Tuesday and Wednesday was Tuesday… Phew. Thankfully, today IS Friday!

We don’t have any major plans for the weekend and it will be nice to relax after being on the go last weekend. Kyle and I are both still feeling “blah” with colds and you know how it goes when the hubs is sick… ;) #endoftheworld HEHEHEHE.

Anyways, let’s chat some favs from the past week!

My pink nails – I haven’t gotten a gel manicure in FOREVER. And by forever I mean at least 2 years. I love how long they last… I may need to get another one this coming week for a bachelorette party I have next weekend. I’m thinking white nails this time… Yay? Nay?

Target. Okay, this is alwayssss a favorite! But I have recently realized that I typically now only shop for Dean rather than spend my fun Target money on myself. Go figure. This week I found a couple of new beach hats (adorable!) and a birthday shirt. Totally unnecessary but totally cute.

I’m FINALLY starting to feel better. UGH. I’ve had this cold/cough/congestion crap for over a week now and I finally feel like I’m on the mend. Kid germs are no joke!! I’m hoping Kyle’s version doesn’t last as long as mine did and that we will all be healthy for the next few weeks.

Chatting with my internet friends. Messaging and texting and emailing my blogging/internet friends always makes my day! I love chatting with fitness lovers and mamas – It is important to have a good group of friends even if you’ve never met in real life ;)

A HUGE goodie box from prAna last night! I participated in their #pranaspringstyle event with Fit Approach and as a thank you, they sent me everything from spring jackets to a swim suit to a new duffel bag to pants to shorts! I love it all – Thank you, prAna!

What are a few of your favorites from the past week? Are you doing anything fun this weekend?

Friday Favs

Oh heyyyyyy, Friday! Don’t hate me for saying this, but the week FLEW by for me. That doesn’t mean I’m going to deny myself being excited for the weekend, however ;)

Kyle’s mom is visiting this weekend so I am looking forward to a date night, a spring training baseball game, BODYPUMP (obvs…), and some beach time. It should most definitely be a fun weekend!

But, let’s chat favorites from this week…

1. I finally downloaded BODYPUMP 97 – I’m still debating whether or not I like the music but I’m certain it’ll grow on me… I hope! When I’m sore and can’t move following our launch in a month, I’ll love it ;)

2. TRX fun – I was able to do SIX (!!!) L pull-ups yesterday in my TRX bootcamp. They may not have been perfect form, but it was my first ever attempt at them so I think 6 is pretty darn good. I’m crazy sore today which is always a great feeling (IMO) after a new workout.

3. Launching my core bootcamp on Monday! Okay, this is more of a future excitement item but I have a fun group ready to go. I also sent out the program yesterday and am even more excited to begin in a few days. Welcome to the 6-pack show ;)

4. Baby smiles – He loves his mama.

5. We have had absolutely GORGEOUS weather the past few weeks in Naples… low 60’s in the AM, high 70’s/low 80’s in the afternoon… and I have been taking full advantage of it. Dean, Mitchell and I have enjoyed some amazing afternoon walks. If it could only be like this year round!

6. Pizza night! Last night we went out for pizza at one of our favorite joints – Rosedale Brick Oven Pizza. So so SO good. As was the wine ;) Hehe…

What was the best part of your week? What are you looking forward to this weekend?

Friday Favs!

Well hello there, Fri-YAY.

To be honest, I have had no clue what day it has been this entire week. Our Iowa trip totally threw me off! I’ll never turn down a Friday though, so bring on the weekend.

What are your plans? Anything fun before turkey week?

We are going to lie low and hopefully get some rest (much needed after a lack of sleep last weekend!) while planning for Thanksgiving next week. Kyle has grand plans to cook up a tasty dinner on Thursday so I’m picking up a few basic items today and we will find the rest for his feast over the weekend :)

Other than that, I have BODYPUMP, running, a nap, and a big glass o’ wine (or three) on my schedule. Sounds like a plan if you ask me!

Since it’s Friday, and Fridays are for sharing our weekly favorites, here are a few of my favs from the week.

1. CHRISTMAS everything!! At least I waited until exactly one week before Thanksgiving… I accidentally (heh…) walked through Target’s Christmas section yesterday and it gave me some major holiday inspiration. I came home and got to work! At first I couldn’t find our tree so I thought I’d have to make another trip to Target (oh darn) but Kyle found it buried in our garage last night. Don’t worry, I’ll still find an excuse to hit up Target again today ;)

2. Dean’s 6-month photos! We are headed to our photographer’s studio this morning to grab a few of my 1/2 year old. I can’t wait to see what she has planned and to continue filling our hallway with his cute little mug shots.

3. MOPS “Drop ‘n Shop” in 2 weeks. Okay, okay… I know this is still two weeks away but I AM SO EXCITED! For $5, all members of my MOPS group can drop their kiddos off in the church’s daycare from 9am-12noon and DO WHATEVER WE WANT. WHATEVER. WE. WANT. For three whole hours! I have grand plans… a mani-pedi with a fellow mama, a leisurely trip to Target, and… I don’t know what else! I haven’t had three hours to myself in who knows how long so this time will be greatly appreciated.

4. Getting back to my workouts after a week-long break. Working out feels FAB but OMG am I ever sore. I’m sure my muscles appreciated the rest but man, oh man, is it difficult coming back.

5. The simple things in life have been making me happy this week as well… Afternoon walks with Mitchell and The Deanster, a long shower while Kyle watches Dean, painting my toenails (happening TODAY), putting up Christmas decorations, clean sheets and a freshly made bed, holiday candles… The simple things are the best!

6. Matt Bellassai is my spirit animal. Pants are pretty much the worst things ever and I’m all about this new campaign. #notopants!

Oh! And I want to quickly mention a fun challenge my Sparkheads team is kicking off on November 30th! 24 days to get closer to your fitness goals – I’m all about getting a head start before the New Years’ rush (although I’m excited for my gym classes to be packed come 2016!) and would love to help you reach your goals. Contact me and let’s do this together! I know I couldn’t make it through the holiday season without my Spark :)

I think that’s it for this week. Let me know what you’re up to this weekend in the comments – I need some ideas since our weekend is pretty much wide open. Happy Friday!

Friday Favs

Happy Friday! Was it just me or did this week FLY by?

Time flies when you’re having fun ;) How about we chat some of my current favorites on this lovely Friday?

1. Dean is 3 months old TODAY! He’s also treated us with a full night of sleep all week. I’ll admit that I used to hate it when moms shouted from the rooftops that their babes slept for at least 8 hours… but I think I’ve put in my fair share of sleepless nights (THIRTEEN WEEKS, y’all) to say that I deserve a few nights of uninterrupted rest ;) Last night he went 10.5 hours between feedings – woohoo! I’ll share his and my 3-month update next week.

2. Kyle decided to take the day off of work so we can have a family day. His work schedule has been crazy the past 6 weeks so he’s enjoying the free time while it lasts. We’re not sure what our plans hold for today – Maybe we’ll head to the dog beach or up to Sanibel Island. Whatever it is, we are ready for some fun in the sun!

3. Block Island Organics Sunscreen. I’ve briefly mentioned this sunscreen before, but wanted to share a little more with you today. It’s hot in Florida and the sun is really dangerous here this time of year <– not to be dramatic, just stating the truth for us with a tendency to burn, ha! Sunscreen is a must if you’re out in the sun for longer than 5 minutes at a time, unless you like wrinkles and risking skin cancer, that is ;) Block Island kindly sent me their sunscreen to try out and in Florida, I’ll take all the help I can get to keep my skin looking young and healthy. Their sunscreen doesn’t have that sunscreen smell (you know what I’m talking about, right?), its scent is more refreshing, almost exactly like Aveda rosemary-mint products which is one of my favorite body care scents. I love that it also doesn’t feel sticky or drip into my eyes since sweating is not optional in SW Florida heat.

Thanks to Block Island Organics, I have a little offer for you today! Today through August 20th, 2015, you can save 15% on anything from the Block Island Organics website! Just use the code “becky” at checkout. It can be combined with site sales and as luck would have it, everything is also 10% off this weekend. I know I’ll be stocking up on sunscreen, especially if it smells just like my beloved shampoo :)

4. Good mail days – Always a favorite here in Naples!

5. My first post-baby race! I’ll be running a 5k with a couple of my girlfriends over Labor Day weekend while in Chicago. I have only run a handful of times (maybe 3, LOL?!) since December so fingers crossed I don’t die. I figure I can push myself through a 5k… although Erica and Amy may have to drag me across the finish line ;)

I’m linking up with Katie, Heather, and Clare today to share some of my favorites from the week.

Whatcha up to this weekend?

For us… Relaxing, teaching BODYPUMP, hanging with Dean, heading up to Sanibel Island, you know, Florida stuff!

Friday Favs

Did this week seem like a long one or was it just me? My days were thrown off for some reason (maybe because of the holiday weekend?) but I know it is Fri-yay today – Wahoo!

Even though I had no clue whether it was Tuesday or Thursday, I still had some favorites from the past few days.

1. I received a surprise gift from Blue Diamond! I was obsessed with the Sriracha almonds they sent me a few weeks ago and was so happy to receive a goodie box in the mail full of everything Sriracha! Love it – Thank you, Blue Diamond!

2. I’m lovin’ all of the surveys currently floating around the blogosphere. I’ve shared two with y’all and plan on doing one more next week. Who doesn’t love a good survey?

Here are the two I posted over the past week:

3. Dean had his first “real” (aka – non-family) babysitter last night! I was subbing a 5:30pm BODYPUMP class and Kyle is rarely home by 5pm so a friend of mine took over for a few hours :) Of course I was super nervous, but my friend also teaches at both gyms I teach, is a nurse, AND she has twin, one-year old girls with two more on the way (she will have FOUR kiddos under the age of two in the spring – holy moly!). So, duh, she was wayyyy overqualified for the job, haha! Dean loved it and left with two girlfriends ;) #ladiesman

4. We finally received Dean’s canvas prints in the mail and I LOVE them! They’re great quality and the fact that I got both of them for $49.99 is a steal. Now to figure out where to hang them…

5. Target’s current baby sale! I mentioned this on Insta yesterday afternoon, but I stocked up on some baby essentials and received $80 worth of gift cards. Wahoo! We should be set on diapers for at least a month now ;)

6. Finally, I’m participating in a fun, Insta photo-a-day challenge for the month of July. It’s all about fitness, setting goals and having fun with it. I’ve been using my fitness Insta account and am lovin’ everyone’s #julyfitphotos hashtag! My three July goals are – 1) Workout 5x/week, 2) Eat less processed foods, 3) Increase my BODYPUMP weights. #3 has been easy peasy and I’m still working on the first two ;)

Thanks to Katie, Heather, and Clare for the Friday link-up fun!

Whatcha up to this weekend? Any fun plans to share? So far, our schedule is wide open! After a few weekends in a row with visitors, I’m looking forward to just relaxing with my boys.

Friday Favs!

Oh hey there! Happy Friday!

I don’t know about you, but I was a day ahead of myself alllll week long. That means I thought yesterday was Friday. Cruel joke, right?

The good news is that TODAY is actually Friday and I’m here to share some of my favs from the week with y’all.

Thanks to Katie, Heather, and Clare for the Friday link-up fun!

1. Dean’s first Trader Joe’s haul! We hit up one of our favorite food stores yesterday and picked up some essentials – Chocolate + Wine ;) Oh, and some healthy stuff to round out the trip because apparently one cannot subsist on dark chocolate alone… although I’d like to prove them wrong.

2. Visitors! Kyle’s parents are in town this weekend to meet Dean and to spend time with us. But really, they are here to see the baby, let’s be real – haha! And then my dad is coming next weekend to spend the 4th with us (and again, by us, I mean Dean) – Lots of grandparent time for the little dude and I’m sure he will love it!

3. Sriracha!! I seriously cannot get enough of this Sriracha Deviled Egg recipe. I’ve already made 2 batches and I may need to run out for some more Sriracha to make a third…

4. My new shorts! I mentioned them on Tuesday, and am happy to report that a medium fits perfectly (similar to a size 4/6 at Lulu if anyone is thinking of purchasing this brand) – How fun are they going to be for the 4th?!

5. I was cleared for ALL activities – that means YOU running! – at my 6-week postpartum appointment yesterday. Wahoo! I have yet to go on a run (maybe I fit one in earlier this morning since I am typing this Thursday evening) but once I find the time, you better bet I’m going to get out there and have my boot-ay handed to me ;) My last run was on Christmas Day, and I know that my first run back is going to be ugly. As long as I don’t have a heart attack, pee myself, or puke, I’ll call it a success. Setting my standards high, LOL.

6. Last, but DEFINITELY not least, I’m lovin’ the new Spark canisters and packets. Smaller canisters. Easier-to-pour packets (no more spilling precious Spark when mixing it up in a water bottle!). Only 4 tast-a-licious carbs. I was on fumes (a dusting? haha) of my final Spark canister yesterday morning so thank goodness my shipment arrived in the afternoon. A mom without Spark would be disastrous.

And that’s all she wrote, folks. Have a fab final weekend of June 2015 <– What the whaaa?!

What is your favorite from the week? …Food? …Purchase? …Drink? …Event?

Friday Favs

Heyyyy! It’s been a hot minute since I participated in Friday Favs and I have a lot of favorites this week so let’s get to it!

1. This isn’t really a favorite, but Kyle went back to work yesterday after taking 2 weeks off. Boooooo. The good news is that Dean and I both survived! We managed to eat, nap, take a few walks, do a few loads of laundry, and practice BODYPUMP. I call that a successful first solo-baby day :)

2. My “Scenes from the day” posts on Instagram. I am trying to stay off of my phone more often than not these days but I still take a lot of photos that I want to share! Plus, a few of my fellow mamas mentioned that I’m going to love looking back at the moments from each of the first few weeks with Dean.

3. Mommy juice… aka – Spark. Oh my goshhhhhh. It has never tasted so good in my life, haha! I have it in the morning before breakfast and then again an hour or two before Kyle gets home from work. It saves my life, I tell ya.

4. My mom and sister are visiting next week! We haven’t had any visitors yet (minus a few friends/neighbors) so Kyle and I are excited to begin introducing Dean to our families :)

5. I WILL be going on a Starbs run today! I have been saying this ever since Tuesday but haven’t had the chance to get there yet. Going out solo with the babe will be an adventure but an iced coffee and a few seconds of adult interaction (<– the more important part, haha) will be worth it.

I’m linking up with Katie, Heather, and Clare today to share some of my favorites from the week.

What’s your favorite… workout, meal, drink, purchase… from the week? What are you up to this weekend?

Friday Favs

Good morning from Iowa! I woke up to a bit of a different view than what I’m use to seeing…

photo (4)

That -8 degrees was, errr…., “refreshing” as I stepped off of the plane late last night. Phew! While checking in at the Southwest counter yesterday, the attendant asked Kyle and I if we had a nice visit in SW Florida. We laughed and told him that we lived here. He gave us the craziest look, questioning our decision to go back to Iowa in February and said: “Well, sometimes you just gotta go there, I guess.” LOL.

But don’t worry, I dressed for the weather ;)

photo 1 (5)

Anyways, how about some favs from the week?

1. The conversation on yesterday’s post – I LOVED it!! I will never understand why talking finances (while leaving your personal numbers private) is so taboo. I love hearing how other couples manage their money. If you’re looking for some ideas, head on over and read through the comments – I loved seeing the different perspectives!

2. A few links…

3. I PASSED!!! My gestational diabetes test, that is :) WAHOO! Thank goodness too… I have some nasty bruises from where they drew blood. I don’t know how I could get a bruise on the inside of my elbow, outside of my elbow, and halfway down my forearm from a single needle stick. Ouch! Oh, and because people always ask, I had the lemon flavor. It tasted like a syrupy Sprite – Not too bad actually but it made me feel like junk about 40 minutes after chugging it.

4. BODYPUMP93. LOVE IT! The music is much better than 92 and I just think it is really fun. Although watch out for the triceps, lunge, and shoulder tracks… Those are going to be burners!

photo 2 (5)

5. Visiting family and friends in Iowa. Yes, it may be freezing, but Kyle and I were trying to recall the last time we were here and we couldn’t remember… Last Christmas maybe? On the agenda… Manicure with my sister, visiting ISU for a onesie and to talk with my college advisor, baby shower, eating at The Cafe (If you’ve been to Ames, you know what I’m talking about!)… and more that I’m sure I am forgetting!

I hope y’all have a wonderful weekend and STAY WARM if you’re anywhere near me ;)

I’m linking up with Katie, Heather, and Clare today to share some of my favorites from the week.

Friday Favs

Friday, Friday, Friday! Who’s ready for the weekend? And whatcha up to?

No big plans for Kyle and I… We have our birthing class all day on Saturday (super romantic Valentine’s Day, LOL) and have dinner plans on Saturday night. Other than that, we will probably do a little house hunting and take it easy.

How about some favs from this week?

1. Some of my fav posts from ONW:

Spark packs

2. I *think* Kyle and I have found the house for us. We love the neighborhood and the home is perfectly updated. Fingers crossed that we can talk them down in price and make it ours soon! Once we have an accepted offer on a home – whether it is this one or a different option, I’ll share photos ASAP! I know y’all love home photos and tours :)

3. We were able to get a few more “baby” items crossed off our to-do list this week…

  • I am meeting with a potential pediatrician today – In Florida, you are required to have a pediatrician by the time you go to the hospital for labor and they are legally required to visit you within 24 hours of birth. My first question is going to be that she requires all kiddos entering her office to be vaccinated. The last thing I need to worry about is MJ catching nasty germs at his well-baby exams.
  • The diaper bag… Done and done!
  • Our “natural” birthday class tomorrow from 9-5. I can’t remember the exact name of the class but it is for parents that want to have a more natural birth, of course if safety allows for it.

diaper bag

4. A huge favorite of mine is that I’m able to still kick some booty in the gym! I’m so happy that I can still fit in my cardio and BODYPUMP without any issues (minus the running…), let’s hope it continues into the 3rd trimester which begins this weekend BTW… Say what?!

5. Thug Kitchen – This cookbook is the bomb dot com. Kyle actually ordered it and we have been making one recipe out of it weekly. It focuses on teaching people how to cook clean and healthy meals using real ingredients. The introduction and their writing is absolutely hilarious. If I did book reviews (which I don’t because I think they would be awfully boring to read), I would totally write one up about this cookbook. But, since I don’t, I’m just going to tell you to get it. Did I mention that it is 100% vegan as well?
