Treat Yourself Tuesday

Happy Tuesday! I know, I know… everyone hates Tuesday’s. Thankfully, we are talking treats today and that makes any day – even Tuesday – better.

Last week, one of my friends from grad school was visiting so I had the chance to meet up with her and her family for dinner and pool time! It’s always a treat to see friends… and I must say that it is super nice that people want to come visit where we live ;)

After a work meeting on Friday night (not a treat!), I had a super busy and fun Saturday.

It started out with a run and running without a stroller is most definitely a treat.

IMG_1852

After cleaning up, Dean and I hit up Target and found him some cute outfits. LOVE the shark tank ;)

IMG_1903

IMG_1951

Beach day = treat day – Dean is obsessed with the water!

IMG_1871

On Saturday night, Kyle and I took advantage of the Y’s Parent’s Night Out and had a date night at Cooper’s Hawk Winery. The wine and the bruschetta were both delicious.

IMG_1897

Earlier in the week, we picked up a bike helmet for Dean… He obviously isn’t a huge fan of it being on his head, haha.

IMG_1913

Now we can go on family bike rides though which will be a huge treat!

IMG_1933

I finally had a chance to check out a new-to-me farmers’ market on Sunday – LOTSA fresh fruit and veggies for cheap. I will be back!

IMG_1905

Check out this fun tank I found at Old Navy. Yes, it is now mine ;) I have gym hair allll the time and I definitely don’t care!

IMG_1936

I also picked up some new shoes for Dean at Old Navy… I couldn’t resist, look at that cuteness. The kid gets treats more than I do!

IMG_1939

How did you treat yourself over the past week? Any fun treats to report?

Weekending

I’m having a total case of the Mondays today! Thankfully, I fit my workout in this morning (kicking and screaming…) and am feeling much better about the rest of the day ;)

Let’s chat the weekend though!

We had a chill night on Friday night – I hung Dean’s birthday sign (a few weeks early, LOL) and Kyle grilled turkey burgers. Dean enjoyed his dinner as well!

I’m glad Friday was a relaxing night because on Saturday, Dean decided he wanted to play starting at 5:45am! That called for lotsa Spark for mama, an early morning Target run, cleaning the entire house, the farmer’s market, lunch out on 5th Avenue, some fun in the pool, and trying on new shoes!

I also made some tasty (and healthy!) treats and we watched a gorgeous sunset on the beach. Best sunset we’ve seen here so far!

Sunday was another early morning – check out that bedhead.

I went on a nice run and then we enjoyed a walk on the beach, some time at the park (Dean’s first time swinging), and grilling.

Whew! We did A LOT the past 2 days. I’m looking forward to Friday – I took the day off of work and am heading to a friend’s bachelorette party in Florida. I CANNOT wait!!

How was your weekend? Was it productive? Fun? Did you do anything exciting?

Friday Favs

Is it Friday? Are we sure? I’ve had all of my days this week confused – I thought Monday was Tuesday and Wednesday was Tuesday… Phew. Thankfully, today IS Friday!

IMG_0994

We don’t have any major plans for the weekend and it will be nice to relax after being on the go last weekend. Kyle and I are both still feeling “blah” with colds and you know how it goes when the hubs is sick… ;) #endoftheworld HEHEHEHE.

Anyways, let’s chat some favs from the past week!

My pink nails – I haven’t gotten a gel manicure in FOREVER. And by forever I mean at least 2 years. I love how long they last… I may need to get another one this coming week for a bachelorette party I have next weekend. I’m thinking white nails this time… Yay? Nay?

IMG_0966

Target. Okay, this is alwayssss a favorite! But I have recently realized that I typically now only shop for Dean rather than spend my fun Target money on myself. Go figure. This week I found a couple of new beach hats (adorable!) and a birthday shirt. Totally unnecessary but totally cute.

IMG_1122 (1)

I’m FINALLY starting to feel better. UGH. I’ve had this cold/cough/congestion crap for over a week now and I finally feel like I’m on the mend. Kid germs are no joke!! I’m hoping Kyle’s version doesn’t last as long as mine did and that we will all be healthy for the next few weeks.

Chatting with my internet friends. Messaging and texting and emailing my blogging/internet friends always makes my day! I love chatting with fitness lovers and mamas – It is important to have a good group of friends even if you’ve never met in real life ;)

A HUGE goodie box from prAna last night! I participated in their #pranaspringstyle event with Fit Approach and as a thank you, they sent me everything from spring jackets to a swim suit to a new duffel bag to pants to shorts! I love it all – Thank you, prAna!

Linking up with Katie and Heather for Friday Favorites!

What are a few of your favorites from the past week? Are you doing anything fun this weekend?

Weekending – Cyclones, limeade, and sangria!

This weekend flew by! We had almost no plans going into the weekend so it was nice to relax and catch up over the past few days.

A few things from the weekend…

Chipotle – It will always and forever have my heart.

A new ‘do. The same but shorter. I’m so boring in the hair department ;)

Cheering on the Cyclones! Sweet 16!

New kicks from Target.

The Easter bunny made me buy them ;)

The BEST Spark flavor EVER. I hope Advo makes limeade permanent because I love it more than fruit punch… and that’s sayin’ a lot!  Kyle and I opened a bottle of rose on Friday and didn’t care for it too much. You know what happens to “bad” wine? It turns into sangria! Yum, yum, yum!

Sunday lunch.

Finally put together Dean’s water table his Aunt Laura gifted him for Christmas.

Checking out the Naples Art Festival on 5th Avenue.

I found Dean’s Easter outfit.

Andddd the Easter basket is done and done… Mostly by the grandma’s ;) I – I mean the Easter bunny – contributed the pacis and snacks.

How was your weekend? What are your plans for Easter?

#101 Treat Yourself Tuesday

It’s been a busy few days for me so let’s jump right into the treats, shall we?

Treat Yourself Tuesday Badge

I had a lot of fun at Target this week and by fun, I mean I spent a lot of money there ;) It IS the $100 store right? Can’t walk out without spending at least $100, haha!

IMG_4315

New rugs for the house! I decided we needed some rugs to make it feel cozier. One is for our living room and the other is for the office I’m currently working on. Previously I’ve avoided rugs because Mitchell gets hair ALL over them and it drives me crazy. BUT after applying a few coupons, these were only $60 a piece so if I need to toss them each year and get new ones, we’re not out a ton of cash. Sweet! I saw these in store but ordered them online because hauling 2 large area rugs with a baby seemed like a supreme source of torture ;) They should be here next week and I can’t wait!

IMG_4245

New shorts. Again, thanks to Tar-jay! These were on sale and I’ve been looking for a casual pair to wear during the week. Hey, anything to get me outta my workout gear, right? LOL. I’ve worn them 3x already so they were more than worth the $18.

New logo

Signing up for Le Tote. (<– Referral link, it will save you 50% off your first tote!) I have seen a few reviews floating around the web and was intrigued so I decided to try it for myself. When I received the email that my tote has been styled, I was pumped!! And then I saw my tote and hated it. Go figure! Naturally, I freaked out but then I realized you have the ability to change each of the 5 items in your tote as many times as you like over 24 hours before you hit “finalize.” PHEW! I switched things up based on what I liked and now I’m even more excited to try this service. I just wanted to throw that little tidbit out there in case any of y’all decide to try it out and have a mini panic attack like I did ;)

Registering for a MOPS group in Naples. This mom’s group meets two Thursday mornings each month at a local church that is less than a 10 minute drive from our house. I spoke with the leader (a mom in the group) last week and she was super welcoming, even inviting me to her Mom’s Night Out next Tuesday to celebrate the kids going back to school for the year. (Besides my Chicago trip, this was another incentive to get me signed up for Le Tote… I wanted something fun to wear when I meet new friends.) I’m excited for the meetings to begin next month.

Sending Dean to the YMCA child watch for the first time. I am actually typing this up a few hours before he will be attending, so I am naturally worrying. I agreed to sub BODYPUMP last minute for an instructor who isn’t feeling well at 5:30 and since Kyle won’t be home at 5, I needed to finally bite the bullet. It’ll be good for both him and myself – plus, I can’t wait to get back to the gym on a regular basis! I signed him up yesterday morning and then proceeded to ask the women in the center 502 questions, LOL. They were all super sweet and I feel 100% confident leaving him there. I’m sure he’ll make BFF’s with the staff ASAP!

IMG_4310

Last but not least, Chipotle. This is almost a given on every TYT now ;)

Your turn – What are a few of your treats from the past week? New outfits? Great dinners out?

Friday Favs

Did this week seem like a long one or was it just me? My days were thrown off for some reason (maybe because of the holiday weekend?) but I know it is Fri-yay today – Wahoo!

Even though I had no clue whether it was Tuesday or Thursday, I still had some favorites from the past few days.

1. I received a surprise gift from Blue Diamond! I was obsessed with the Sriracha almonds they sent me a few weeks ago and was so happy to receive a goodie box in the mail full of everything Sriracha! Love it – Thank you, Blue Diamond!

IMG_3245

2. I’m lovin’ all of the surveys currently floating around the blogosphere. I’ve shared two with y’all and plan on doing one more next week. Who doesn’t love a good survey?

Here are the two I posted over the past week:

3. Dean had his first “real” (aka – non-family) babysitter last night! I was subbing a 5:30pm BODYPUMP class and Kyle is rarely home by 5pm so a friend of mine took over for a few hours :) Of course I was super nervous, but my friend also teaches at both gyms I teach, is a nurse, AND she has twin, one-year old girls with two more on the way (she will have FOUR kiddos under the age of two in the spring – holy moly!). So, duh, she was wayyyy overqualified for the job, haha! Dean loved it and left with two girlfriends ;) #ladiesman

4. We finally received Dean’s canvas prints in the mail and I LOVE them! They’re great quality and the fact that I got both of them for $49.99 is a steal. Now to figure out where to hang them…

IMG_3227

5. Target’s current baby sale! I mentioned this on Insta yesterday afternoon, but I stocked up on some baby essentials and received $80 worth of gift cards. Wahoo! We should be set on diapers for at least a month now ;)

IMG_3229

6. Finally, I’m participating in a fun, Insta photo-a-day challenge for the month of July. It’s all about fitness, setting goals and having fun with it. I’ve been using my fitness Insta account and am lovin’ everyone’s #julyfitphotos hashtag! My three July goals are – 1) Workout 5x/week, 2) Eat less processed foods, 3) Increase my BODYPUMP weights. #3 has been easy peasy and I’m still working on the first two ;)

Thanks to Katie, Heather, and Clare for the Friday link-up fun!

Whatcha up to this weekend? Any fun plans to share? So far, our schedule is wide open! After a few weekends in a row with visitors, I’m looking forward to just relaxing with my boys.

Friday Favs

Friday, Friday, Friday! This week has been a lot of “work” and I am happy we’re approaching the weekend and got plenty of things checked off our to-do list.

I’m linking up with Katie, Heather, and Clare again today to share some of my favorites from the week.

1. The movers come today. THE MOVERS COME TODAY!!!! If I have to sleep on an air mattress for one more evening, my back is going to go into revolt mode. I was practicing BP yesterday and my back felt all wonky during the squat track… I’m contributing it to sleeping on a crappy mattress for almost 2 weeks. I’m also excited to stop rotating the same 3 dresses that I have in my closet ;)

2. This meme. Most of my salads are delicious, but every once in a while I’ll come across one that makes me think like this cat, LOL.

cat salad

3. I’m so happy that Mitchell loves his new place. I’m thankful that he’s a very adaptable pup (I calculated that he’s lived in 9 different places since I got  him 8 years ago while in college…) and is always happy when he’s with his people… mainly Kyle ;) Anyways, he loves our new steps and the patio… The heat not so much but we’re heading into “winter” so that should help him with the adjustment.

mitchell patio 2

4. Checking a TON of things off of our to-do list. Yesterday was probably the most expensive day of our marriage next to purchasing our condo in Minneapolis. We purchased a car, a new mattress (king size, baby!), patio furniture, and a dining room table. Phew! We both agreed that we’re eating only Target brand Cheerios for the next month to save some money ;)

new car

5. Speaking of Target, have I mentioned that there is a Super Target within a 5-minute walk of our apartment?! Holy dangerousness! I’m both excited and nervous for this discovery ;) At least if I walk I can’t buy as much, right? Haha!

I hope y’all have a great weekend!

What are you up to this weekend?

#54 Treat Yourself Tuesday

Before I jump into Treat Yourself Tuesday, I need to have a little shout out for two of my favorite blends :) Carly’s birthday was yesterday and it was an important one – Happy birthday girly! And Katie’s is tomorrow – I wish I was in Napa celebrating with you! Make sure to jump on over to their blogs and wish them a happy birthday!

This is the last TYT I’ll host while living in Chicago. That’s crazy talk! By this time next week, we’ll be settling into (and by settling in, I mean digging our way through mountains of boxes…) our new apartment in Naples.

Treat Yourself Tuesday Badge

If you’re new to TYT, head over here to read about why I am a supporter and advocate for treating ourselves – even in the smallest of ways – everyday! I promise you will fall in love with the idea and once you do, please link up below :)

First treat of the week was our movers! Thank goodness for movers… They seriously did everything from the packing to the moving to the truck. And, since we still had a ton of stuff at Kyle’s dad’s house, they even drove out there and picked up our belongings. I tried to avoid the chaos but I did enter to bring everyone Jimmy Johns for lunch… The boxes were enough to drive anyone crazy so I quickly snapped a photo and left!

photo 1

I also treated myself to a new book this week – Divergent! After I saw Ashley post a photo on Instagram about the movie, I remembered that I have been wanting to read the book forever. I found a 10% coupon on Target’s Cartwheel app and took advantage of it :) I also saw this at Target but didn’t buy it – That’s self control if I’ve ever seen it!

photo

Remember how I posted about SYS last week? Well, the eye cream JUST became available so you better believe I ordered some! Apparently Advo wasn’t 100% happy with the bottle dispensers so they sent me TWO for the price of one. Pretty sweet, right? I plan on doing a before/after comparison for y’all but my before photo is awfullllll so no judging when I post it in a month ;)

photo 4

While I’m on the topic of Advo, I also treated myself to a couple more Advo tanks! (The pink and the black… obviously!) I figure I’ll be wearing tank tops a lot more frequently in Florida. I had these shipped to our new address too – crazy!

Advocare burnout tank racerback

Finally, I treated myself to a visit to my favorite Whole Foods in the entire world :) The only thing I purchased was lunch at the salad bar… and it was so good!

How did you treat yourself this week? What is the best book you’ve read recently? I’m looking for some ideas so I can hit up the library once we get to Naples!

No-makeup weekend

Happy Mother’s Day to my mom and to all of my mommy friends and family out there! I hope you’re enjoying your day and that you’re kiddos are behaving ;)

Mom – I promise I was good today… Even though I may have spent too much money during my Target trip and online shopping here. Like mother, like daughter… hehehehe!

Now, onto my weekend fun. It’s been a great one so far, especially since I haven’t worn makeup since Friday. My skin most definitely appreciates the break every once in a while!

photo 1 (2)

Friday afternoon kicked off with an impromptu happy hour with two of my girlfriends at work. We sat in Millenium Park and enjoyed a brewski. They were needed after the week and were super refreshing.

The evening was spent watching hockey with friends – although I honestly didn’t watch the game and couldn’t tell you who won. I was so engulfed in conversation that I also forgot to take photos. It was a good night!

photo 2 (2)

Even though Friday night was a late one, I woke up bright and early on Saturday and took Mitchell to the park. He enjoyed his time with the tennis ball.

Brunch Collage

Next up was brunch! We decided to try a new-to-us place, Yolk.

photo 5 (2)

Egg-white vegetarian omelet with fruit for her. A meat-y, potato-y skillet for him.

photo 1 (3)

Next up was a 2+ hour walk around the beautiful city of Chicago. We saw the Buckingham Fountain.

photo 2 (3)

And The Bean.

photo 3 (3)

And after our feet were tired, we decided it was time to relax with some Wine That’s Fun vino on our pool deck. Ahhh… the life.

Then it was time for Kyle to leave for the airport :( He’s in The Netherlands this week, so it’s Mitchell and I holding down the fort.

photo 4 (3)

After he took off, I went out on a warm, color-filled 6-miler. O2 Gold surprises me every. single. time. with how much energy and endurance it gives me!

photo 5 (3)

Since my feet had taken a beating throughout the day (36k steps!!), I treated myself to an at-home pedicure. My toes look much better now :)

And…. I just gave you three foot shots in a row – moving on…

photo 1 (4)

The rest of the evening involved sushi for dinner.

Mitchell Collage

And hanging out with Mitchell. He was super needy after Kyle left and curled up on his side of the bed <3

Since I was asleep by the late hour of 9pm on Saturday, I woke up at 5am this morning! I know, I’m so strange, but mornings are my favorite part of the day and I hate to miss them.

photo 1 (5)

Mitchell and I headed out for a long walk in the gorgeous weather.

photo 5 (4)

Breakfast was a new-to-me pancake, ProCakes – They were awesome!

photo 3 (5)

Next up was body pump – My gym just purchased new weights and they’re in pounds instead of kilograms and I’m so confused as to what I should put on my bar! I definitely need to go heavier next time.

photo 2 (5)

I spent the rest of the afternoon doing laundry, making some Spark Variety Packs and hitting up Target.

photo

It was a great one but alas, tomorrow’s Monday.

What did you do this weekend? How did you celebrate Mother’s Day?

It’s Friday, it’s Friday!

Yes, it’s FINALLY Friday!

But it’s not any Friday… Today some of my favorites are coming to visit! So, in honor of Friday Favorites, I’m listing off some of my current favs from the week :)

1. These lovely ladies! As you’re reading this, they’re on their way to Chicago (or already here!!) and we have a fun weekend planned. Make sure you follow us on Instagram and Twitter with the hashtag #blendsdochicago (<– OF COURSE we have a hashtag!) to see us in action.

hls roomies walk

2. After much contemplation, I finally have my own AdvoCare site! www.ChiAdvoCare.com

I almost went with www.AdvoCareWino.com but figured that wasn’t business appropriate ;) Although it does give me ideas for a new blog…

advosite

3. These brownie bars delectable pieces of heaven that I can’t wait to share with you next week! They’re amazing and – by some miracle, I managed to save part of the pan for my lovely ladies (and Kyle!)… This recipe does not disappoint, although I wouldn’t expect anything less from my favorite combination.

picstitch

And thankfully, everyone visiting isn’t afraid of dog germs because Mitchell helped me bake last night ;)

photo (1)

4. A “family” tequila dinner at Adobo Grill last night! Mexican food paired with tequila drinks?! Yes, please! I had a fun night with Kyle and his family and can’t wait to share it all with you next week.

photo (2)

5. This maxi dress from Target. I got it in the “black” color which is an odd description considering the top is striped and the bottom is a flow-y floral. Either way, the price was right and now it just needs to warm up so I can wear it!

6. The AdvoBar snack bars have been lifesavers for me this week! I’ve been running around like a crazy person and these give me staying power (hello 10g protein!) plus they taste like a candy bar for only 140 calories. A healthy candy? No complaints from me!

AdvoBar® Snack

I’m linking up with Katie and Clare for this week’s Friday celebration :)
