Younique!

I am really excited to share that – after months (no joke!) of consideration, I’ve decided to sign up as a Younique Presenter! Younique came out with a new Presenter Kit at the beginning of this year and it sold me. A few of the items in the new kit have been on my to-try list and since I was going to spend almost $99 purchasing them, I figured I might as well get the discount too!

Younique Presenter Kit

I am what you call a “kitnapper” ;-) This means that I purchased the Presenter Kit for $99 (it includes almost $300 worth of makeup!!) and plan on using my presenter-status solely for the discount on makeup. That being said, I AM keeping an open mind and doing my best to take the time to learn about the business opportunity as well. I want to make sure I’m informed about EVERYTHING Younique in case I need to answer a question. And well, I signed up as a distributor with AdvoCare with the very same intentions and it grew into a nice little side hustle for me that is paying off my student loans. Yay!

Now, let’s be real, I am totally not a makeup guru and the thought of me doing a makeup “how-to” video is comical… So definitely don’t expect me to be posting videos with makeup tips and tricks anytime soon ;-) What I do know is that I love every item of Younique that I’ve ever tried and not only am I excited to finally have a discount on my favorite beauty goodies, I’m excited to share them with all of you!

My current top 3 favorites include:

  • Moodstruck Precision Liquid Eyeliner <– I was SO scared to try this that I waited almost 2 months after my initial order to test it out. Ummm… Love at first application! Not only is it incredibly easy to apply (I am no makeup artist, haha…), it doesn’t move from your eyelids AT ALL. No more eyeliner below my eye and no running down my face during a workout. YASSSSSS!
  • Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes+ – This mascara was very recently reformulated and the new formula was included in the presenter kit I received. I LOVED the old formula and this one is even better!! My lashes look longer and fuller and it even seems a bit easier/faster to apply. I have blonde eyelashes so even though they’re fairly long, you can’t seem ’em without mascara. SUPER annoying. I haven’t tested this out during a workout yet but I will let you ASAP if it holds up during a sweat session.
  • Lucrative Lip Gloss – I confess. I am a lip gloss junkie! I love trying any and all brands of lip gloss but I am not too brave when it comes to bright/bold colors ;-) I love that the Lucrative Lip Gloss is affordable so I can try multiple colors and that it isn’t sticky. At all! There is almost nothing I hate more than sticky lip gloss, LOL. #firstworldproblems

Now for Younique products that I am super excited to try!

  • Moodstruck Lip Exfoliator – I don’t know about you, but my lips are ALWAYS dry. Can’t wait to give this a try and have my gloss go on nice and smooth. (FYI – This is included in the presenter kit so I will be trying it within the next week!)
  • Lip Bonbons Tinted Lip Balm – Along the same dry lips line… The Bonbons are supposed to be super  nourishing and I can’t wait to try it out!
  • Touch Mineral Liquid Foundation – I’m not a huge foundation girl but EVERYONE raves about this product so it is most definitely on my list. Once baby comes I know my skin is going to be looking “blah” due to hormonal changes and I’m hoping this can help a mama out!
  • BB Flawless Complexion Enhancer – I’ve always been intrigued by BB creams so naturally I’m intrigued by this product too. Moisturizer and foundation in one means fewer steps while I’m trying to get ready with a toddler clinging to my leg, haha!
  • Moodstruck Minerals Concealer – I’m a mom. ‘Nuff said.
  • Royalty Moisture Boosting Gentle Cleanser – I’ve been searching for a new cleanser for a while now. Fingers crossed I love this one!
  • Royalty Detoxifying Mask – OMG AM I SO EXCITED TO TRY THIS!!!!! My friend always posts photos of herself on Facebook with this (charcoal-based) mask and it looks like a great product. I received a few samples in my presenter kit so be on the lookout for a scary charcoal-mask selfie, haha!

I have A LOT to learn and a lot of new beauty products to try. If you have any tips or tricks or any favorite Younique products, give me a shout out in the comments. I’m super excited to FINALLY get into makeup at the age of {almost} 32 :-)

Why I love MLMs

I was thinking over the weekend. I was thinking about the types of products and businesses I love and support when I realized that I LOVE and SUPPORT many companies that are considered to be “MLMs” – Multi-level marketing, direct sales business model, network marketing… Whatever your preferred terminology may be.

My last post professed my love for Rodan + Fields. I obviously am obsessed with all things AdvoCare (#sparkhead4life). I recently held an Usborne Books party. I use Younique cosmetics. My house smells of delicious Scentsy scents. I diffuse my Young Living oils weekly. I show off my Stella & Dot jewelry when Kyle and I go on a date night.

And the list goes on.

I wasn’t lying when I said I LOVE MLMs ;)

Since direct sales tends to get a bad rap, I thought I would share the reasons why I choose to support my favorite companies that just so happen to be part of the direct sales business model.

  1. The products ROCK. I do my research before I buy anything (I like to know what I’m putting in/on my body, where my products are made, if the organization supports any charities, etc.) and direct sales companies – at least most of them – offer high quality products!
  2. I like – and honestly prefer to – support my friends when I am spending money. If I know I am going to receive quality products AND I can financially support a friend in the process, why wouldn’t I want to purchase from an MLM?
  3. They offer great opportunities to make a “Plan B” income. Sure, some people “make it big” (or whatever you want to say) with direct sales but from my observations, most people involved just want to make a few extra bucks per month to pay off student loans (ahem, me!), save for their child’s education, build up a vacation or emergency fund, or have some extra spending money. It’s not an easy business model, but if you put in the work, the extra $100, $500, $1,500 per month can really help you move toward a debt-free life… or whatever your financial goal may be.
  4. They allow their members to make some fabulous friends along the way. Sure, you could say this about any organization or club or workplace, but – again from my own observations, the friends that are made in this business model are lifelong! I’ve met more individuals that hold similar beliefs, goals, and aspirations to mine since I’ve been involved with AdvoCare than I have in any other organization I have been a part of in my life.
  5. They’re fun and they help people. Life isn’t fun if you take yourself too seriously, right? For me, direct sales isn’t about bringing in a big fat check or earning a vacation or earning a promotion… Not at all – If it were, I think I would be setting myself up for disappointment, LOL. For me, direct sales (specifically AdvoCare because that is where I have my experience) is about helping others. I like helping people on my team. I like helping people looking to improve their personal health – whether it is for weight loss, fitness performance, or energy. I like receiving text messages about how AdvoCare allowed a friend to push herself harder in last weekend’s marathon or how a new mom now has the energy to care for her newborn AND her active toddler or how the income a friend earned last month allowed her to finally pay off her car loan. I get the happy feels. I just like helping people!

While all of the above are reasons I absolutely believe in the direct sales business model, I’ll be the first to admit that some direct sales “marketing techniques” are more than annoying. I’m not going to go into specific details, but honestly, I think the techniques that annoy us all say more about individual distributor than the company as a whole. Maybe it is just me, but the last thing I would ever want to do is pester and annoy my friends until they no longer want to be my friends ;)

I am personally quite thankful for the opportunity I’ve found within direct sales and will PROUDLY support all of the companies (and in turn, my friends!) I listed above.

Incredible products, fantastic people, and an amazing opportunity… what’s not to love?!

Tell me your thoughts on direct sales – I’m curious to what y’all think!

#69 Treat Yourself Tuesday

I decided to treat myself to a little BODYPUMP class this morning! Whooooweee 92 is awesomely difficult. How ’bout that lunge track?! Let’s get onto the treats!

Treat Yourself Tuesday Badge

If you’re new to TYT, head over here to read about why I am a supporter and advocate for treating ourselves – even in the smallest of ways – everyday! I promise you will fall in love with the idea and once you do, please link up below :) **Also, just a quick call out, please make sure your linked up post is about treating yourself. There have been a few random link ups lately and while it doesn’t bother me too much, that’s not the point! The point is to write about how you have been kind and loving yourself so you can be the best that you can be. Mmmkay? :) **

Now, onto the treats!

First treat, releasing BP 92 on Sunday morning! It is a killer release and I think everyone loved it… in an “OMG my legs hurt so bad I want to cry” kind of way ;) If you have a Les Mills gym near you, check in to see when they’re releasing – you won’t regret it!

Sunday Pump

Keeping with the fitness theme, I treated myself to three new sports bras yesterday – wahoo! When you are pregnant, your ribs (and other parts, LOL) expand so mine were getting a little tight. Target is having an awesome sale right now… these were $10 a piece and there was a $5 C9 coupon in the paper on Sunday. Sweet!

C9 Sports Bras

Apparently babies can start tasting the food you eat around Week 21. I’m training Mitchel Junior to have impeccable taste buds at birth with this jar of Nutella.

In case you missed it, I’m holding a Younique party via my friend Jess! I’ve been wanting to try their mascara for basically forever and figured a party is a bit more fun than shopping alone ;) Plus, I need some recommendations on lip gloss colors – I’m thinking Ladylike, Lethal, and Lovesick – What do you think?!

Magnify and enhance your OWN lashes!

Another treat was receiving my sweaters in the mail from White Plum! It is still too warm to wear these here in Naples (I think it’ll always be too warm for sweaters here!), but I got them for our trip back to Iowa in February. I doubt any of my shirts will fit by that point and I will need something to keep me warm.

The Naples YMCA is opening their brand new gym next week! It’s going to be freakin’ awesome – a grass rooftop for training drills, on-demand BODYPUMP that is open 24 hours, a huge weight room and cardio room, and a yoga room with wooden floors imported from Europe (apparently they were donated from a member!) – I’m super pumped! Anyways, their open house is next Wednesday (locals, it’s at 12noon if you want to swing by!) and they are holding a healthy living giveaway. I was feeling generous and decided to treat one lucky member to an ALL-IN challenge. I can’t wait to see who wins – Spark is going to rock their socks!

Advo All-In

Finally, I’m treating y’all to a baby name tomorrow :) We’ve had it picked for a while, I just haven’t gotten around to sharing. Stay tuned!

How did you treat yourself over the New Year’s week? What lip gloss colors should I get?

Party with me!

The new year has come and gone and it’s time to get crackin’ on those resolutions or goals, if you prefer. While I didn’t remember to list it as one of my goals for 2015, one of my focuses this year is to “get pretty” at least twice per week.

Are you confused? Let me explain…

Since I work at either the gym or at home, there is basically no need for me to change out of my Lululemon, do my hair (aka shower) or wear makeup… ever. Like ever EVER. Yes, I know, it sounds like a dream, but sometimes a girl just wants to play dress-up and look pretty. This is especially true when her house is going to be full of even more testosterone in just a few months… and there is nothing wrong with spending a few extra minutes beautifying yourself a few times per week! That is definitely one of the perks of being a woman :)

I’ve wanted to try Younique products for basically forever and a day. Their mascara looks magical! While I was scrolling through Facebook a few days ago, I saw that Jess – a high school friend of mine, was a new Younique presenter. It was my sign to finally give that mascara a try.

I know many of you are like me… lulu is your fav but it’s nice to get dolled up every once in a while so I thought I’d open up a Younique party for everyone. The more, the merrier, right? The best thing about this party is that you can do it from the comfort of your living room… in your lulu, rocking that 2-day pony, with wine in hand. Now THAT is my kind of party.

You can check out my party here!

Below are a few of the items that are on my wishlist…

Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes – The magical mascara I was talking about. This product looks incredible (I mean, check out the with and without photo below!) and it’s definitely going in my basket!

Magnify and enhance your OWN lashes!

Lucrative Lip Gloss – Confession, I’m a lip gloss junkie. I guess I could have a worse habit ;) While I haven’t tried this myself, I’ve heard that it is super moisturizing and not sticky <– that’s key in my book! Now my only decision is which color to choose…

Lucrative Lip Gloss

Singular Sensation Collection – This collection has totally caught my eye. It includes six of the products plus a cute makeup bag… Totally the excuse to get dolled up if you ask me!

Singular Sensation Collection

I’d love it if you joined my party! Once we all stock up on mascara and lip gloss, maybe we can do an online lash and lip photo contest… I know I’ll be sharing my photos with y’all.

Have you tried Younique before? I haven’t and I’m so pumped to finally get some in my makeup bag!

Also, I just realized one additional benefit of adding a boy to the house… No one will ever steal my mascara ;) Bring on the makeup!
